  1. I believe if you do the legal ceremony they require a deposit. No I did not get any vaccine before my trip and neither did any of my guests.
  2. Hi and congrats!! You will love Sun Palace! Private message me and I will send you the link to my shutterfly website that has ALL my sun palace wedding pics- and feel free to ask as many questions as you need- I was married there on 11.23.12!

  4. Something Old: the bracelet my husband gave me when we started dating 8 years ago Something New: my dress Something borrowed- diamond earrings from my mom Something Blue- I had a lot as blue was one of my colors- garter, jewelry and undies!
  5. 1) The 1500 is per room. I had a room of 3 girls and they all had to split the 1500. 2) I would recommend the brazilian restaurant- I can't remember the name- they have an outdoor patio area that I bet they would use for the semi private reception. 3) You should be comp'ed for 2 nights after you return. 4) I cannot help you on this as I flew down a local photographer. It ended up being a better deal for me! 5) You could have it right after- cocktail at 3 and then dinner at 4 or you can wait- give your guests time to freshen up and for you to have pictures so start the cocktail at 5 and then the reception at 6. Let me know if you have any more questions! Shanna
  6. You can ping wifi from the resort so if a lot of your guests have iphones they can imessage each other, or you can check facebook. Otherwise when you dial 0 sometimes they will give you room numbers if you tell them you need someones room number to call them and other times they say they will transfer you but won't give you the room number so then when they pick up just ask their room number. I kept a list of everyone's numbers on my phone. We had a meeting spot on the beach where everyone went if they were trying to meet up with the group. I did not try going to the front desk to get a list of everyone's rooms as I felt like that would take hours to get accomplished. If all your guests book together (ie with your TA like mine did) everyone will be close together and everyone will be in the same sections. Hope this helps!
  7. Ours was about 2 months after our wedding- we got married the day after Thanksgiving so we wanted the holidays to pass first as everyone is busy. We thought 2 months would be good because we would have our wedding photos back and was able to display them for everyone at the Open house- we did an open house at our new house instead of an AHR.
  8. One of the groomsman made a playlist for me and we just let it run- in alphabetical order I believe.
  9. You're welcome!!! I did the maracas for my wedding reception so that wasn't an option haha. But that is a good easy idea!

    Rooms

The terraces and most of the rooms will not be affected by the construction. Some of the rooms will be affected as I think they update the rooms a few at a time and then the lobby and probably some of the pool area. If your guests want to stay in the Nizuc they will be fine, just warn them about the construction! The terraces are all near the beach and gazabos- which will not have construction so no worries!! There is a terrace on the grand side if you are worried though- the Verando Terrace- that is where my rehersal/welcome dinner were! Nice and secluded since it is in the grand section!
  11. Marisol asked me the same thing but didn't make that comment lol. I did not bring anything- who decorates for a rehersal dinner/welcome dinner when your wedding is at home? My WC actually provided lantern type decorations for centerpieces and led candles. I was fine with no decorations- I didn't want to hassle with a lot of stuff for a welcome/rehersal dinner. Here is a pic of what they provided:
  12. Awesome thank you very much!! So it sounds like paying for the extra is worth it then! I will need to decide our budget to see if we can afford the priviledge!
  13. I don't know how big the tables are but I'm pretty sure whatever the standard round table is- that's what they are as my chiar sashes fit just fine. They place 8-10 people at each table depending on the amount of people you had. We had 5 tables I think 2 had 10 people and the rest had 8.
  14. Ok gotcha lol. We just did a symbolic ceremony in Mexico as we did not want to pay all the extra fees for everything and it didn't feel different!! Hope you are all packed! Comes from the girl who finished packing the night before we left haha!
  15. Congrats! So exciting! So you are getting legally married in Mexico, then having a symbolic ceremony and then getting legally married in the US? Wow girl- sounds like a lot of weddings! haha.
  16. Always changing their minds..sounds about right. If it's important to you wait until you are 90 days out and ask your onsite wedding coordinator or maybe another bride on here has asked and has gotten a different answer! Good luck!
  17. You're welcome!! Yes they do mean cheesecake...but ask for Tres leche- it's not on the "list" of flavors, but they have it! It is amazing- at least what I ate of it- I never got an actual piece of cake but those that did said it was yummy!
  18. Are there any recent or soon to be Ocean Turquesa brides that can answer my questions above? Or anyone that has recently stayed at the resort? Thank you!!!
  19. I had my dress as my carry on plus a tote that I shoved my purse in just in case they said something but they didn't so you should be fine with a carryon, the dress and your purse!
  20. I flew frontier- I just kept my dress in the garmet bag that my dress came in. We just put it in an empty overhead compartment- no problems!
  21. Mexican apps and dinner menu!!! Yummy!!!! And then we chose the Yuctan for our rehersal dinner. I recommend all of them! When in Mexico go with the Mexican food- you can't go wrong!!
  22. Hello ladies!! My name is Shanna and I am currently planning my 1 year anniversary trip! My husband and I were married at Sun Palace in Cancun on Nov 23, 2012! I have seen this resort on here multiple times and I am considering it for our anniversary trip! Can you ladies help me out with questions about the resort itself? Is the "privilage" really worth it? Is there a section of the resort you should/ shouldn't stay at? I know we want an ocean view room! How is the food? Any restaurants that you HAVE to go to or should stay away from? How are the bars? Good alcohol and beer? Is there nightlife at all? How is the beach/ ocean? Is the seaweed a major problem? Has anyone gone off the resort to do a tour or park at all? How far away is Xel-ha or Xcaret from this resort? Thanks ladies and I hope everyone's wedding planning is going well!
