  1. as many others have said, Congrats Mrs. Dow! sounds like you had a wonderful time. my one question is, for the ceremony who plays the music for you? is there a specific person (dj) there to change/start/stop the music? or do we have to have someone do that for us? maybe a silly question, but just so i know.
  2. alirhgt my info filled brides, i have an important question and need as much feedback as possible. for the father daughter dance i need some help finding a particular kind of song. anyone who knows the song by paul brandt i think it is about being "half the man he didnt' have to be" i need to find a song like that but daughter related. story is the man i call my dad (really my stepdad) met my mom got married and adopted me when i was 4, and i have a sister (their daughter together) which all those other father daughter songs are more appropriate for. don't get me wrong we have a great relationship and some of those songs are alright, but just not what i'm looking for i think. so im having a really hard time trying to find a song. so if any of you can help out i would be so greatful!!
  3. thanks for all the feedback, lots to consider and look into..... just confirmed my date this week for October 25 2011!! we're having it at 1pm, so i'm pretty excited, but pretty stressed too! i've read so many of you saying not to stress don't worry it all gets worked out when you get there, but oh i'm still stressing. i feel like i have sooooo many questions to ask, but i can't get it together to think of what they actually are... i am also lookiong into merrick cousley for our photographer and his work looks so amazing and i was totally shocked at his prices!! they are so reasonable! anyways keep the info coming ladies and maybe i'll figure out the answers to the questions i can't think of by reading this!!!!
  4. i got the big email from the assistant the other day and it had all the prices for the "extras you can recieve, and in there it says you have to pay for table linens, and chair covers, is this true? i've heard some people say that they didn't have to pay but just curious on others understanding of this. as well as the renting of the gazebo for the dance from 9-11. is this $500 for the rental and the DJ?? because again the email i got said that the DJ rental for 1 hour is $400? any thoughts from all the other brides would be much appreciated! and i looked into those wedding packages from noli/transat, and there is a lot of "fine print" i found and wasn't really worth it (in my case anyways), read carefully if you are thinking of these packages!!
  5. thanks for all the great info everybody, will definitely be keeping it all in mind when planning, and looking into those other wedding packages to compare. has anyone done this yet and have an opinion on what the best route would be?! just curious.
  6. mekanabr---first off, congrats on your upcoming wedding! i can't wait to hear about the questions you asked and beverly's reply... i'm just in the beginning stages of planning with her, and so far not a great experiance but will hopfully get better, it will be nice to see some of the answers she gives you. and the birth certificate that we have to send away has to be the long form correct?? and does anyone know just how long the ceremony is?? we are getting married at 1 in the afternoon, and are just not sure what all happens?? between the ceremony itself, then you get the sparkling wine toast? cake cutting? not really sure, as i've mentioned i personally have not talked to beverly (as she does not reply) so these are questions i'm not sure of. so i'm sure someone on here might know this answer!
  7. hey, i was just wondering if anyone knows of any really good websites for getting decor and stuff with a wide range of colours?? the colour i'm going with is "pear" and luckly i've found my sister a MOH dress in that colour, but i can't seem to find anything else...be it ribbon or napkins or well anything....hoping maybe someone on here might have an idea!
  8. hey there, i've read on here that the deposit you have to give is 25% of the wedding package that you have chosen from the resort...
  9. hey there, i've read that the deposit is 25% of the wedding package that you have chosen.
  10. hey there, i've read that the deposit is 25% of the wedding package that you have chosen.
  11. well that's good to know about the 48 hours, i told my travel agent depending on that time restriction either the 24 or 25 of october (2011) and i was origionally gonna do a sunset wedding but beverly had told her that at that time of year at that time of day it sometimes rains for a bit, so i told her either 1 or 2 pm instead. and with it earlier too it'll give us lots of time for photos before supper, cause i have read a few girls say that felt really rushed when they did a sunset wedding and then had dinner so soon after, so i'm sure in the next couple days (well hopefullly today) that date and time will be all picked and we'll be ready to deal with everything else!!
  12. i've been waiting over three weeks, i even tried her assistant, and got nothing, now i just got a phone call about and hour ago from my travel agent and she said she finally got ahold of beverly, so she gave me the dates that are available now she just has to call beverly back and let her know which i'd like. another question i had was, does anyone know how long after you arrive in jamaica (how many days after) are you "allowed" to get married? and now that you have booked Tris what have you done about a deposit? has she asked for one? or how long in advance she we put one down? cause i know from what i've read on a few posts on here i'd much rather have put a bit of a deposit down to secure my date and time, so nothing gets messed up. so now that atleast my TA has heard from beverly hopefully things start to get better from here!
  13. hello everyone. i'm still not getting anywhere with beverly through email... i was just wondering if anyone had the phone number that they use to get ahold of her and could let me know what it is, so i can try her that way. starting to get quite frustrated with the whole situation. thanks so much.
  14. hey katelynn, thanks sooo much for that email, that's great. those will be very helpful... i still have no word yet from beverly (my TA hasn't either) i'm gonna try her asst. tonight, and hopefully get a response soon! thanks again, much appreciated!
  15. hey, thanks for the reply. i have been talking to my TA and she said she's been trying beverly as well and not getting anywhere, so i'll try her assistant and see if i get anywhere that way. i'll also check over the posts for some of the pricing details. etc. there are soooo many pages so hopefully it's easy to find. but i sure would appreciate the packages if you have them. my email is [email protected]. thanks so much
  16. hello to all, i'm new on here, and so very much overwhelmed. i'm in the process of booking in october 2011 with my TA and have emailed beverly on days available (no word yet, as i've read is very normal) was just wondering if anyone can give ffeedback on what sorta questions i should be asking beverly, things to consider for the wedding and if anyone has information on pricing for the "extras" that you can add on. i really have no idea where to start. any and all help would be sooooo much appreciated. thanks!
