We were originally going to go with Playacar Palace and after going decided on the Aventura Cove, but the rules are the same, they dont have an issue with you bringing anything you like, but they do have a "nominal" charge for setup, the charge with their product is 6.00 per person cocktail and 12 per table dinner, and then they tack on the extra to use your linen, this is not something the advertise and it is over an above the cost for the cocktails and reception itself, you will get the 1500 credit and can use that towards the experience but I found the extra charge to be a bit more than " nominal" and was really annoyed by the surprise.

After reading all these comments and suggestions, I sat there thinking about it and said "baby, we need to make an early trip to Mexico to drop off stuff before the wedding" suffice it to say we are haulin it all with us too, lol but I love your idea of leaving stuff for the next bride, I wonder how that would work? -
I completely agree with you. The photographs are the way to revisit a time that will fly by so fast. I have budgeted more than half my wedding for photos, and we looked at the work from I am fairly certain everyone out there. High end photography will run from 3000-10000 depending on exactly what you want from the photographer. Keep in mind that this is a form of art, and you are not only paying for a skill, talent and vision but also the entire editing team. That being said, contact the photographers, they all have photos of the things you want to see. For our purposed we are choosing Del Sol for exactly the reasons you bring up, I want the pictures of the moments that matter, things that will be part of our memories, the preparation, the laughter the tears and the joy, all around. I have seen the coverage of roughly 80 of their clients and also took the time to read their blogs and take note of their personalities. I think that is very important because if you are a tongue in cheek bride who was a twisted sense of humor you will have a very different idea of what is important from a very stoic ocd personality, At the end of the day, your level of comfort with the person taking your photographs is going to be what makes or breaks those photos. These are a very personal thing and when the wedding is over you want something tangible to hang on to that doesnt make you feel like you are seeing something that wasnt real. One thing I'm noticing when looking through galleries and blogs is that I'm able to get a very clear idea of someone's style and ability where the ceremonies are concerned, but there are far fewer reception pictures to look through. I realize a lot of photographers are only there for so many hours, so it makes sense, but I really want to get a good look at what these photographers can do in low light before I narrow down my choices and start contacting them. Several photographers have my attention with their beach ceremony pictures, but looking through the few reception pictures I can find, I feel a lot of them are far too grainy, or much too dull, or simply do not live up to my expectations. Judging from the amazing pictures these same photographers are able to take in the day time, I realize I'm going to have to be very critical of the reception work, if I ever hope to narrow down my choices. I'd love to hear, especially from brides who've been around this forum long enough to have seen countless wedding albums, which photographers consistently produce glowing, magazine-quality images at receptions, where lighting is often very dim? Would love to see examples!

I have been scrapbooking our history and adding info about the planning, the trip to see the resort, the invites etc, and I came up with the idea to scrap the guestbook pages, this seemed like a fabulous idea until I realized what a time consuming project this was going to be, so I took some time and figured out how to make a digital scrapbook page, I used a program called printmaster mostly because it was cheap and seemed to have the most options, its not exactly user friendly, but I managed to get around it fairly well. It is a broderbund program if you are interested. Anyway I have the first of 40 layouts I will be doing and thought I would share the idea, it seemed to work fairly well and i am excited about how it will fit in with the scrapbook I am doing for the whole experience

most of mine is not a traditional brooch, I used very thin craft wire and wired the piece using any area I could for some that wire just became part of the piece, then used a thicker wire underneath to attache to a stem, then wrapped all in floral tape. Its a really long process, but it is strong as heck and wont fall apart, my concern with using a glue would be the heat and the glue and leaving a lil trail of jeweled bread crumbs to the ceremony. I wanted it to be in an orb shape to suit the design with the lily's later, but you can also wire them together in a traditional bouquet shape. Just a note, this is hard on your hands, the wire can cut and easily pierce skin, and its a finiky job so gloves to help much. I found its totally worth it but forwarned is forearmed lol

every pin and earing are either from my jewelery box or deceased now, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, great aunt, living aunt previous mother in law, new mother in law sister. Each one has a story, the butterfly on the top was actually part of a wind chime my FH gave me the first time we met, it had gotten broken in a move and I never let go of the pieces, so it all has meaning and it makes me smile, that said, my sister noted I may have to put wheels on the darn thing, its getting very very heavy

It is horrible that you are in this situation, should be a happy occasion, not a traumatic issue, honestly, its a celebration of love, not a contest of wills

sorry it took me so long, the design and the cleaning up the scan of the drawing plus putting together both the passport and the formal and I only needed 40 all told I think around 500, I was just so happy to hand the enormous project off, and as for how long, as long as you want it to take basically, Rebecca is amazing and will work to make it exactly what you want, I had a ton of stuff I was adding as we went, the reaction to them has been incredible, it was totally worth it to me, I think the invites, the gown and the photos are the only thing I would really splurge on, and honestly the photos are going to be the one big giant expense, so I find ways to save money elsewhere, lol I figured out what I thought was important and went with it...lol -
Post your Hair and makeup ideas
noelles replied to EDYTA's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Well I have an idea for my hair and I would love your opinions. When I met my FH I had braids in so I have been thinking it may be cool to do the braids for the wedding, pull some of the front pieces back and weave flowers in them as a veil, its alil different but the braids are awesome and if they are tight enough its like getting a facelift, but it is sort of unusual but I would like some opinions, let me know ladies -
I totally understand, and its funny I am normally a fairly blunt person, but there are some situations, and circumstance where I just feel my hands are tied, then its up to passive aggressive behavior, strait out, its your day, but conflict may not be your thing, and the letter or face to face could only complicate your life more, I get that, she has suggested she wont wear an expensive gown, simply indicate you have chosen an uber expensive designer absolutely not designed for her figure dress for her to wear, and if she is willing to purchase it and attend, well, at least she counts to the discounts at the resort and wearing a horrid 1000 dress she is a bit of a floor show, but my bet is she starts backpedalling and is somehow 'busy' that day. I hope for you the best, my pain in the but is family and honestly I cant ditch her much as I would like to

I have done something a little different for the guys, my FH is a huge guitar junkie, I have 18 and counting in my house, and yup he plays them all, but his favorite is a very expensive Taylor guitar, I contacted the company and they sent me a miniature version, FOR FREE, they loved this idea, I used the miniature with a guitar pick fan around the back as his bout, our son is the best man and he is a call of duty nutbar, so I have used a keychain ps3 controller and laminated scans made wee of the game for his bout, my dad is all about the coors beer so he has a beer bottle bout, future father in law is a retired police officer and so on, I wanted to really personalize things, I havent gotten the pics done yet but will post them as an album when I can

I started mine as well, but have decided to tap the family members for brooches, I have brooches from all of the women in our family and grandmothers, great grandmothers etc, I have amassed almost 200 family brooches and have them wired, I am using a foam form in the middle to create a globe presentation, on the wedding day I plan to ring it with lilies, and wrap it with the ribbon I am using throughout the wedding. I wanted to create something that would be an heirloom and the idea started with my late mom and grandmas jewelery, I loved the idea of including them I will post photos as soon as I have it finished

I found the dress that made me cry!
noelles replied to noelles's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
it was bad, I put on almost 100 pounds from steroid treatments during cancer treatments, and I am still puffy along with it, and some of the dresses and stores made me want to cry, left one actually in tears, and not the good ones, but even my 14 year old son said whoa when I came out in this one, best part it weighs less than my purse lol I am so exicted about it -
I finally found my dress, I found it hard, I am a big girl now and I felt just overwhelmed with nothing that fit or looked good, it made me uncomfortable, but oh yes I found it It just is exactly what I wanted its a demetrios gown and now what I expected I would get but there it is, and I really hope that its just as perfect the next time I see it
