  1. Banned form pintrest?!?!? how horrible! My herat sank when I read that! I'm obsessed with it. We were originally getting married at a resort (not-all inclusive) on the Island where my fioncee is from. But we are now doing it at a private estate (long story) I may divulge that story later on. It was a big upset, but this little island has lots of shops and town within walkign distance. Much diffrent than PI. Things are expensive anywhere in the Bahamas beacuse of the duty, plus you add on a resort fee.. wozers! I am soo in love with the idea of the OOT bags, I may change my mind later- but for now, I will be having two "comfort" baskets. (playing cards, sewing kits, sunscreen, snacks, aloe, pepto, ect.) one in my house were renting and one in my parents. So that in an emergency it's easily assessable. Plus the welcome drinks (ours will be Kalik beers) with the hand written welcome notes. Not sure how we will get them in their fridge just yet...
  2. It is customary to pay for the services, plus food, flight and room. Sometimes you can find a photographer who would be willing to work with you on price if they want to make a vacation out of it. A good photographer in the city is at least 3k, depending on the city. Flights from Nassau to major southern cities are relativity cheep, and you may get a great room rate a sister hotel you can put them up at. I'm flying in 2 photographers, 2 videographers and having them stay for 3 nights (only working one)- Photo and Video are very high on importance to me. I am bartering some services tho. Its a big investment for us, considering our budget, but then again so are my memories.
  3. Hi Miss Bubbles, As far as I'm aware the sky lanterns are ok to bring in the country, because they are just paper and wire. But check with your coordinator at the location. They may have a different opinion. PS- I LOVE sky lanterns <3 Ohh- and I love that idea about going to the store after getting there, some people may not even leave the resort- and won't have to! I am doing welcome drinks like this one: http://pinterest.com/pin/270427152594414422/ because I am already bringing in soo much stuff to decorate and will not have room to bring in OOT bags and goodies. Plus the area we will be there are grocery stores within walking distance.
  4. We are brining in our own Photographers and Videographers, the quality is still lacking in my opinion, for us to hire the local vendors. We know that our video and photos will be very important to us later on. Just a warning I heard of photographer who didn't get a permit, the problem is coming into the country with all that gear looks supisious. Just get the permit, you don't want the gear to be confiscated (YIKES!)
  5. Hey guys!!! I'm getting married in November in Treasure Cay Resort in Abaco. Beach ceremony and then reception at the Cocoa Bar- where we had our first date <3
  6. I was eating there a few years ago while visiting Nassau and saw them setting up a wedding. It's a nice and quite beach, and the food is outstanding!
  7. So I was reading in one of the green bride books about co-ops; when brides agree to share some of the decorations/necessities with similar locations/dates. I will be bringing a bunch of decorations, about 25 full sized lanterns, chargers and will have at least 100 candles, yards of burlap and about 30-40 mason jars brought over there. When you bring things over, you have to pay duty, so it does not make sense to bring it back over. I was wondering if any other bride in Abaco maybe would like to buy it after I'm done or join a co-op and we can share the decorations. Even if your not an Abaco bride, is anyone interested in this type of thing?
  8. I'm gonna run to my Michael's store today. I have decided not to do OOT bags for cost and travel difficulties and since I am bringing most of the wedding decor to the Island. But I will be doing an emergency basket in the wedding party's villa and one in my parent's villa with playing cards sundry items and hopefully sewing kits.
  9. What do the postcards look like? can you pm me?
  10. Thats a great idea... I am planing on having lots of lanterns and candels- but I'm not sure what to do with them once the wedding is over and if it's sucha good idea to bring them in the first place...
  11. I seriously LOVE this dress, I have been curious to see how BCBG looks at a real wedding. I love that its a no-fuss no train flowy dress, EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
  12. I'm actually trying to figure out how much decorations is a reasonable amount of decorations to bring. The island I'm going to doesnt have a whole bunch of rentals like some of the bigger islands. I also see everyone talking about OOT bags and I cant imagine taking all that stuff with me!
  13. I have it but cant seam to know how to make a pin while surfing on my ipad.
  14. Wow! There work is beautiful! I'm working with www.keymomentfilms.com who is based out of Orlando, FL and the rates are much lower even accounting travel costs, it may work for you.
  15. Seriously AWESOME idea!! We are getting married in the Bahamas, I'm American, my Fioncee Bahamain, so American to Bahamain translations may come in had.
  16. I'm planning a Bahamas wedding next November, I'm reading that many of you are doing OOT bags with water or food, and can't help but think... What can't you bring to the Bahamas? Or what you will buy for the wedding after you get there. I have heard all fireworks including sparklers are not allowed, and of corse produce, any thing else you have been told or heard about?
  17. Awesome tips! I think it's clear that communication is key. I willl deff make sure all of our gusts have an itinerary at there room.
