  1. Ladies after receiving my Allure knockoff from babyonline (pics posted a few pages back) and being super pleased I ordered another dress this morning. I plan to change out of my wedding dress after our reception so we can keep partying at the club! I didnt want to go to the club in my big dress so I got this dress to "kick it" in LOL. I will keep you all posted when I get it in. Hopefully I will be just as pleased =)
  2. Netty in my experience with the whole TA experience I will say this. Although Apple Vacations and those big companies have competitve pricing in terms of group rates they not only ask for a large amount of money as a deposit but your literally on the hook for the rooms. So if you block off 20 rooms and have only 12 rooms booked you have to pay the difference. That was too much of a liability for me to hold. We opted to sign up for free with a local TA (Liberty Travel) as there were a few benefits. The main reason was because it allows people to pay their arrangements in payment plans as they choose. They have to have the balance paid in full 45 days before your travel date but for families of more than 2 it was a huge benefit not to drop thousands at one time but to pay it off little by little. Another benefit is that although I am sure your doing your own STD they do give you personalized one with all their info and all you and your grooms info to mail out which was cute. Also if you want your wedding guests in the same vacinity of the resort they can keep everyone togethe if you so choose. Also, they communicate with the resort if you have any immediate questions. She crossed referenced her prices with the Barcelo website and other websites to ensure my guests got the cheapest rates. Of course in some situations it was still cheaper to go through an orbitz or travelocity and so some of my guests just did that. By and large I think the option is the way to go. Good luck!

  4. Ladies for those who have or plan to put Oh shit Kit's together or in other words all your medical stuff in one bag what size bags are you using. Like many our kits will have the first aid kits along with individual packets of things such as advil, pepto etc. I am however having a hard time finding bags that will fit. I assumed the zip lock bags is what most ppl are using but the small sandwich bags are too small and the freezer bags are too big. I have a template that I will use on the top of the bags but what size bags are you guys using? If you use the freezer bags do you cut off the ziploc part of it to avoid the extra bag?

  6. We have chosen I Will Always Love you by Tito Nieves...love this song! We arent the traditional slow dance kind of couple. But it does have a small intro that allows for a bit slow dance that is the more traditional aspect then it goes into a Salsa. Stand by me is a good choice too =)

  10. Nykat...right LOL. Well my wedding is in like 5 weeks so I am sure that has something to do with it. Diana: I know you brought lanterns with you for the reception space but they didnt use them all. Can you give me an idea of how many you would say they actually hung up? Also, were those the large lanterns or small and did it look right with just the few. Just thinking if its even worth bringing them or not, and if it made a difference/statement...watcha think?

  12. Ladies FYI: In regards to the kids, Kids from 2-11years old they are half price $25usd and from 12 years up counts as an adult $50usd.
  13. LOL..from what I understand they have a mic and speaker system for the ceremony that they use but they charge US to use it if we want to play music on it for the ceremony. Which is pretty lame and just another way to extort money from us. The system is there anyway you would think they would just allow us to use it? IDK its on my list of questions to ask her but since I made it to #1 on her shit list she takes a week to return my emails.
  14. Miss Jalli thats what I plan on doing. As long as its battery operated/charged you should be good. I mean we dont need to be able to entertain the whole beach right? LOL. I think that sound/volume should suffice. I would def have a list of questions for her but your weding isnt until March of next year so I am sure the prices will go up again before then.

Mis Jalli I was told the sound system was $250 however take that with a grain of salt because that was in January and I am sure it has changed as I have not reconfirmed that with her yet: Please be informed that the sound system has a additional cost $250usd ( Subject to availability). Soloparat: Honey that international DJ fee of $488 was last year now the prices is $708 and if you want the MC its $1300. I bang my head on the wall every time I talk to this chick because she changes prices on me like she changes her panties or at least I would hope she changes them that often LOL =) I did however confirm with her yesterday the following prices: the bridesmaid bouquets are still $30, the second dinner option of fish/steak is $16, the first 24 people are free if we did a rehersal dinner then anyone after that is $20pp and you MUST have it in a banquet hall with a fixed menu. Once your group is bigger than 24 they wont allow you to do it in a restaurant, any people over your alloted per person package is $50, ie: Tangerine package allowed 35 ppl, anyone after that is $50 each. Um cocktail hour is still $12 pp and for the additional hour for the recption its $15 per person and either $236 for basic DJ or $434 for the DJ/MC. Nykat: LMK what she says about the kids prices and possibly childrens food instead of what the adults are eating. Natalia was told kids are full price and Bjean was told they are 1/2 so lets see what she tells you. We are also doing a symbolic wedding and I am waiting to hear back from Susana to see if they have something scripted or if I should provide that. Just seemed easier in terms of paperwork to do the JOP here first but we want all of our guests to get the indication we are getting married for the first time there.

  19. Diana....welcome back!! You looked absolutely stunning girlie! You rocked that dress (loved it) and I cant thank you enough for the detailed review! It's so helpful to us upcoming brides! A few questions: You flew out of NY on what airline? What did you do with your dress...carry on? Did any of your guests use the resort credits, I'm still a bit confused on how this works? Would LOVE to see the video tropical pictures did when you get it? In your opinion did the MC make a big difference in the flow of the night? You said there were no hidden fees/charges...so the DJ was $1300 plus the add'tl hour, bridesmaids flowers $30, additional people for rehearsal dinner were how much? Did you play any music during your/bridal party walk down the aisle, how did that work out? Your welcome bags were awesome! Was there anything you felt really was used by your guests or not really neccessary? Anything you would do different? Did it rain at all while you were there? Thanks again for your review and taking the time out to answer all of our questions.
  20. TDawn: Did you have a symbolic wedding, if so how did the ceremony part of it work? In terms of verbiage. Did your guests feel like it was happening for the first time or was it apparent that your actual exchange of vows had already taken place? Did they have a scripted ceremomy for it?   22. Miss Jalli we are not doing escort cards or a seating chart since we are only having 45 people. I will be doing it for my ATH that is for 120 didnt find it necessary for DR since its such a small group. Not sure what past brides did but I dont recall any mention of seating chart/escort cards. I think its a matter of preference. Oh and congrats on grad school I too am in grad school and had to take 3 months prior to the wedding off because I just couldnt juggle it. Good luck!
