First of all, Welcome!! And congrats on deciding on a destination wedding!! I don't have much information about the specific resorts you are looking at, however, for us choosing the resort was the hardest part of everything so far. What we did was make a list of what was and was not important for us. For example, resort size, location vs airport, restraunt options, proximety of excursions ect. From there we narrowed it down to about 3 resorts. We then went to a travel agent who was able to provide us with approximate prices for each resort, and that ultimately helped us make our decision. We were concious of the price as we knew our guests would be paying to come, but at the same time we wanted to go with a resort we loved even if it was a few hundred dollars more. As to the planning your wedding in 4 months, I beleive it can be done. However, I know the dates you are looking at are really busy for destination weddings. What you could do is contact three or four resorts you are considering and find out if those dates are even available, that might help guide you to a specific resort as well! Good luck with your planning!
  2. Welcome! Congrats on your engagement in December, I was also engaged in December! And congrats on deciding on a destionation wedding!! We chose Jamaica because it is a truly beautiful country!! We are getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. We ultimately chose this resort for a few reasons: They offer a variety of wedding packages, even a free one, they offer lots of variety of restraunts, and the location of the resort is pretty good compared to the air port. Also, it was the cheapest out of any resort, even though it is 5star. We chose to get married in early January. We chose this because its cheaper then February, March and April. My parents own a RV business so their summer months are busiest so we knew we would have to get married in a winter month. I graduate in December from University so thought January would be a great time! Good luck with your decisions!
  3. Thanks for this link for parasols. Its exactly what I have been looking for. I just ordered two turquoise ones and can't wait for them to come!!
  4. Certain places restrict you from bringing sand from the beach out of the country so make sure you check before you do, or you might have trouble bringing it back with you from your destination.
  5. For those of you who have been married at this resort I was just wondering if we have to supply our own cake cutting stuff, or if its provided?
  6. Have you tried emailing them? That is how we finalized our wedding date with the wedding coordinators. The email is: [email protected] The email for the assistant planner is: [email protected] Make sure you put the subject as Urgent or something along that line. Good luck!
  7. You must be getting super excited!! I am thinking about doing parasols too and would love to hear how it went with them!! Enjoy your special day and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
  8. Your ring is gorgeous, would love to see it on your finger!
  9. Wow, everything looks great!! I love your invites! And the pandora bracelet is a great idea!
  10. I'm trying to find a TTD dress and I will have to check Davids Bridal out, thanks so much!
  11. What a great idea, I will keep my eye out for them!
  12. I'm not married but we are doing a sand ceremony. We feel that if we were having a traditional wedding at home we would be doing a unity candle, and this is just a beachy way of doing it on the beach. I have been to a few weddings where it was done and I just love the meaning behind it. We are using vases, a set from Michaels, which comes with everything needed. It has a lid thing for the top of the vase so we are going to do that. Also, we are going to pack down the sand good, then melt a candle on top of it so the sand wont move. And I figure that if it really looks aweful when we get home we will redo it maybe for our one year anniversary.
  13. This has been super helpful! I'm still undecided if I'm going to do one, but I'm strongly considering it. I am body concious and don't want the entire world to see the book so I might use the idea of giving it to him the night before we leave. That way no one else will see it!!
  14. Your ring is beautiful!! I to have a solitaire ering and I had a hard time finding a wedding band that I liked. I too wanted something thin with small diamonds but still went went with my ering. I tried on a ton of wedding bands and didn't like many of them with my ering either because there was a huge gap, or they didn't look cohesive together. I ended up purchasing a 0.25 carat channel set diamond band. Here is a picture of it (I don't have a picture of it with my ering, and my ering is currently getting fixed:( )
  15. I'm really glad you came to a comprimise about things and that you are still going to have a blessing in Jamaica. You will get your dream beach pictures and it will be so special with just the two of you. If I could go back now I would probablly just do the two of us anyways! You will have an amazing time in Jamaica!
  16. Thanks so much for sharing!! Congrats on your wedding!!
