  1. At first I didn't want a white dress, but when I went and tried dresses on the ivory made me look terrible! The white was definately much better and the dress I ended up purchasing only came in white, which was great! I think it is a personal preference however.
  2. When I was searching for my dress I really didn't have a preference to either. I ended up buying a dress with a corset back and I really love the way it looks, also, it really helps to accent my curves when It is done up properly. Also, If I lose or gain any weight it will be good to have a corset back. I think it also depends on the dress style you decide to go with.
  3. This is a great article I came across awhile ago and saved to my favorites. Hope this helps a bit! http://www.groomgroove.com/groomville/female_groomsman.php
  4. That is why we chose not to make a website. Most of our guests coming have a computer but wouldn't regularily check our wedding site. We decided rather to send out a postcard with all the travel agent information, resort information and what not. We plan on sending out a pre travel brochure with all the other necessary information and other good things to know, such as things about the airport, what to pack ect.
  5. We actually didn't write them together. When I asked my FI if he wanted to he said he didn't want to and he didn't care. So I took it upon myself and did it myself!
  6. I believe it depends on what wedding package you chose to go with. We are just using the free package, therefore we have to pay the minister fees. I think all the other packages include the minister fees.
  7. Great planning thread!!! I am in love with your cake topper!!
  8. First of all Welcome! And congrats on your engagement! Once we narrowed down our resort we emailed (or you can call) the wedding coordinator for that specific resort and asked for a list of available dates in the certain week we wanted to be there. From there we chose our date. After we had our wedding date confirmed with the resort we sent out Save the dates(STD). On there we listed only the month, January, and year, 2012, rather then a specific week as we were unsure of flight schedules at that time. You could send out STDs as soon as you know the resort and the date. That way you will have an idea of who will be coming and who wont be. Then, closer to your wedding date, send our your formal invitations with all the details about the resort, wedding location, wedding time, ect. You can include the information for your get together after the wedding, or you could send them seperate. The group coming for our wedding are all flying together on the same flight and staying for a week. I wanted to all arrive on the same date. They will all fly home after the first week and we are staying for a second week.We arrive on a Monday, get married on the Friday, and then everyone else goes home on the Monday. Good luck with everything!!
  9. Welcome!! I too wish this summer would just hurry up!! I never thought I would say that ever!! Good luck with your planning!
  10. Wow, what a great site. Looks like they may have a few things I'm interested in, I just hope shipping to Canada is not to expensive!
  11. We were considering getting them something nice, like Tiffanys bracelets, but we decided against it and rather payed for their outfits, shoes and cheap(er!) jewelry to wear for the wedding. We just felt that they already are having to travel so far to come to our wedding and pay for their trips that this way we were able to keep costs down for them. We are going to get them just little things that are cheaper for their gifts.
  12. We are including 2 per person only because it worked out that way with the number of boxes of them we bought. I don't think it really matters how many you include, I think people will be happy to get 1 or they will be happy with more. I think they are more fun then anything!
  13. We are also including bubba mugs for our guests. They are a little bit more expensive then stadium cups but its nice because they are insulated and have lids. We only have a small group coming so I guess it would depend on how much you are willing to spend and how many people are coming.
  14. I was able to open it, I just tried. You have to go to the one posted at post #12 though. If you try to open the first one it wont work. Hope that helps!
  15. What a tough position. I would say that it is your wedding and you need to do what you want, not what will make other people happy. That being said, if you don't want her to be in your wedding as a bridesmaid then tell her that and maybe ask if she could do a different job for you, such as being in charge of tipping vendors, or something like that. That way she will still feel important and like she is contributing without feeling left out.
  16. I love the idea of having both your dads walk you down the aisle. I think you could get one to walk you halfway and the other to walk the other halfway or have them both walk you the whole way then they can both give you away. As to decesed parents, my FI father passed away when he was mcuh younger and his stepdad basically raised him but he still wants to do something to remember him. I think we are going to have an empty chair with a rose on it in honor of his father.
  17. I am not married yet, but I am getting married in Jamaica. We did write our own vows.
  18. Not sure where you live, but if you live in Canada you can purchase them from http://www.weddingfavours.ca/ or http://www.weddingstar.com/ If you are from the states you can purchase them from http://www.lunabazaar.com/
  19. We are also using him as our photographer. We chose just the basic package. It provided us with everything we wanted. I wanted to do a TTD session, my FI thought it was a stupid idea, so we are not doing a TTD
