  1. We are flying with Transat Air and our travel agent confirmed with them that they may be able to hang it in a closet depending how many brides are on the same flight. If not it will have to go in the overhead bins, which I am okay with in a way cause I can keep better tabs on it. Plus, my dress is taffeta so even if it does go in the overhead bins it wont wrinkle to badly.
  2. Glad to hear you could come to a decision! I think the two colors together will be beautiful!!
  3. Great tips! We have decided not to bring many decorations to keep costs down and not have to stress about them being right!
  4. Good luck with everything! I think no matter if you decide to get married in Canada or your destionation its always a little complicated!
  5. We looked into getting legally married in Canada first before having our wedding in jamaica. I expected we could go to the courthouse or city hall and get married there. Thats not exactly true. Once you have your marriage license, in most places you must hire your own justice of the peace and either arrange to be at their house or your house or wherever you decided you want to do the ceremony.
  6. What a great tip!! I never would have thought about this!
  7. I dont think any photographers would be offended if you gave them a list. We are planning on doing that so we get all the shots we really really want and have no regrets. If anything it will help speed along the process of pictures as you arent discussing right them and there what pictures you want.
  8. I would honestly be offended if I was asked to pay for my meal at a wedding, especially a DW when I am paying that much to begin with. That being said I agree completely with clgriffi7. My FI wanted to invite anyone and everyone, and his parents wanted to invite all the aunts and uncles and cousins (FI has a HUGE family). I only wanted to invite immediate family and close friends as we are paying for the wedding ourselves and I didnt want to pay for all these people I see once every 10 years. We came to a compromise and invited around 55 people. Our of the 55 we are only having 16 guests, which really helped with our costs. I guess just be concious of how many people you are inviting.
  9. I hope you have an amazing time and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!!
  10. That happened to me when I went to book my wedding date. It was December 2010 and I was trying to book my wedding date for January 2012, and they thought I meant January 2011. It was frustrating until finally they under stood and I booked my date. You are planning really early so it should be no problem getting the date you want, so dont stress about that! You can also call them. I had to call them once and change our wedding date due to flight schedule changes. The only thing is if you call them there is a chance you may not even get a hold of them if they are not in the office. It sometimes takes a week or two to get replies back to emails, so just be patient. They wedding coordinators are extremely busy at this resort.

Welcome! I think it really depends what resort you are getting married at and how they do their weddings. I am getting married in jamaica at the gran bahia principe and for the reception you have your dinner in one of the restraunts and then after you do whatever you wish. Thats partly the reason we chose that resort as we didnt want a formal reception and just wanted it to be relaxed and carefree! Also, they provide a free wedding. I would recommending finding resorts that offer you free weddings to keep costs down if thats what you are worried about.
  12. Great advice! We first wrote a list of what we wanted in a resort and that greatly helped us to elimiate certain locations and resorts. It is personal preference but you will find your dream location for your wedding! It took us about 2 months to do this so dont get discouraged. Also, we found it helpful to use a travel agent. Good luck with your search!
  13. Welcome. Try searching for thread on that resort and you should be able to find more answers!! Happy planning!
  14. It has been awhile since I have been on here, too busy working making money in order to pay tuition to go back to schoool. Only one more week of freedom before school starts, Makes me a tad sad! In regards to planning I have accomplished a few things. Most exciting was I went today for my first dress fitting! My dress was at my parents so I couldnt look at it whenever I wanted so I was really excited to see it and put it on again! I think I fell in love with it more when I put it on! Other then that I have almost completed our OOT bags ( we have a final number now of 14 guests plus my FI and I). I completed the tags and the survival kits. I just have to now iron on transfer our logo to our bags. We purchased my FIs outfit, groomsman outfit, bridesmaid dress, and my FI ring. I just have a few projects I want to do shortly, a welcome letter and pre travel brochure to send before we leave. I'm hoping the next few months fly by, Im getting so exciting!!
  15. This is an aweful situation to be in! It was one of my greatest fears with ordering a dress. If I was you I would demand that the store call them while you are there to find out the status of your dress. Nothing worse then having to worry about where your dress is. Good luck! Let us know how things turn out!
  16. We will only have about 16 guests come with us and we wanted to give them OOT bags. That being said we didn't want to spend to much money on them and break our budget ( we are both university students at the moment). Our OOT bags cost us about $12 dollars. They would have cost us a lot more but I was able to purchase some things on here from past brides that were extras for pretty cheap!
