HELP: Kicked BM out of Bridal Party...
JayKay replied to Aphrodite's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Wow, I just can't believe the things some people do. I think its definately in your best interest to not have them included in your wedding. Yes it does suck because they were friends, but in the long run it will probably be better. It will surely make your day less stressful and awkward. You dont want to look back in 5 years and regret having them in your pictures and memories of your special day. It is your wedding and there is no reason why she should be treating you this way! You made the right decision to get rid of her! -
What is a near-sighted bride to do?
JayKay replied to GreekFood's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I love first look photos. I think they are stunning and so meaningful! You can definately ask him to stand with his back to you until you can see him and then he can turn around. My future sister and brother in law did that at their wedding in Mexico, because like you, she didn't want to wear her glasses and can't wear contacts. She wanted to be able to see him, so she could see his expression! I don't think its weird at all! -
Thats so exciting! You must show us pictures!!

show us your rings!
JayKay replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I absolutely love that ring, and I think it looks amazing with your e-ring! I think because of the curves it looks like it belongs together, whereas a traditional one might feel like it doesn't fit as well. I also think it looks great on its own! The sapphires don't perfectly match but I think they are close enough in color that it won't seem like they are non matching. -
I am using Tai Flora for my flowers. They have been great to work with so far and they have tons of options. Here is their website: http://www.taiflora.com/

Like BusyBee123, my wedding day is fast approaching! Where has the time gone?! I just have a few questions and hope to find the answers here. 1. We want to do a welcome dinner. We arrive at the resort on a Monday and get married the Friday. What day would be appropriate for the welcome dinner? We were thinking either the Wednesday or the Thursday. Would it be weird to have it the day before the wedding? 2. If any past brides did have a welcome dinner, did you go to an A La Cart or the buffet? We are only a group of 16. If we do have it in an A La Cart do we have to pay for it? And does it count for the number of A La Cart you can use in the week? Also, how did you go about arranging it with the resort? 3. The more I look at the free bouquts, the more I realize I don't like any of them! I am thinking of getting some other flowers from Tai Flora. How did you go about this? Did you email the wedding planners at the resort or Tai Flora directly? How much is it costing you? 4. I need your opinion. We are only a group of 16. Between our wedding party and ourselves that leaves only 10 guests in chairs in the aisle. Do you think it would be weird to have our guests sit on the first layer of the gazebo around it, instead of on the walkway leading to the gazebo? 5. Has anyone made a CD of their own music and taken it with them? Does someone play it for you? How many songs do you need? If anyone has any answers I would really appreciate it! Thanks! -

I agree, the thing I'm not worried about is rain, but then again its just a little water. I'm going to try to not let it ruin my day! I'm going to definately come check out your wedding!! And you will have to come check out mine, if you will still be at the resort! -

Your pictures are stunning! We too have booked Merrick as our photographer and I couldn't be happier with our decision. 8 months ago when we booked him I was a little skeptical as he was fairly new to the business and wasn't that busy, plus his prices were outstanding, so I was naturally a little worried about the quality, but after seeing your pictures I know we made the right decision and I can not wait to get married!! I couldn't agree with you more. I have been spending most of my time lately writing out and drawing pictures so I can take and show exactly what I want and explain everything I want. I already have come to terms that not everything is going to go as planned and Im okay with that. I get a daily wedding tip in my email and the other day it said this " Don't worry about the little things that didn't go exactly as planned, likely, you are the only one to notice. Enjoy your day and the memories you are making" It really got me thinking that not everything can go perfectly and I feel like if I prepare myself now It will be okay!! PS I'm going to spy on your wedding!! -

Where did everyone start when picking a Hotel ?
JayKay replied to schumacher2993's topic in Newbies!!
We did tons and tons of research. There were times when I felt like my head was going to explode from all the information! What we found helpful was to write a list of what we wanted in a resort and wedding. For example, size of resort, restraunts and amenities at the resort, lenght of time from airport, and most importantly cost. From there we narrowed it down to about 5 resorts. We went to a travel agent and she was able to provide us with more information on each of the locations we were interested in. That helped us narrow down our choice even further and ultimately it came down to cost for us. We weren't able to do a site visit due to us both being in University, but if you can I think it would really be helpful. Good luck with your decision. I feel it was the most stressful part of the whole process thus far. And also took the longest. I beleive it took us over a month to finally reach a decision about our resort. Don't feel discouraged!! Good luck and happy planning! -

Need Help deciding on timing of first dance
JayKay replied to FutureMrsDawson's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I think it might be nice if you did it after your cocktail hour and then that way its done and out of the way, you can relax and enjoy your dinner and reception. Also, the guests will all be together then anyways, might be easier to just do it then. Also, if you wait till after dinner and reception to go back to the gazebo it probably would be dark outside, and that means they might make you pay for lighting ect. Something to think about! -

I got a similar email telling me I needed to fill out that form so they could create a file. I was a little shocked, thinking that I have been planning my wedding for many months just to find out I didn't already have a file. Once I clarified this with Chandlyn things were fine. Its just there way of saying things, probably not the best wording to use, as like you, it made me a little nervous! -

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall?

We are getting married in winter in January. We are getting married in Jamaica though, so our theme is a beachy theme, nothing to do with winter. -

I'm having the same dilemma right now. I really don't care to much about my flowers but after I seen the free bouqet options I'm not sure if I like any of them. I guess they would work but honestly most of them are pretty ugly and I don't want them in my pictures. I think I might just pay the extra to upgrade to a bouqet that I will like. -
I know how you feel! We send out 51 invitations and actually only had 5 people (minus our immediate family) RSVP. Most said it was to early to be able to tell us if they were coming or not, and some said they may try to get a last minute deal. I was really frustrated that no one RSVPd becaues its really not a hard thing to do! We finally just decided to take how many people have booked already and add a few more to get our rough number. Anything extra that we have left over Im hoping to be able to sell after the wedding. And if there is extra people then what we planned on well then to bad for them. Don't stress your self out about it, although its hard not too!
