  1. We are going with short sleeved shirts. I don't want my FI to sweat to death in a long sleeved shirt. I think it will look fine in the pictures.
  2. Thanks so much for sharing! I had been hoping they would go on sale at Canadian Tire soon, but I might have to check out Wal Mart
  3. I don't think it would be a problem. Mothers day is not really a holiday that most people celebrate, more just a day to get together with your mom. For most people, its just a phone call or a card in the mail, not a big fancy turkey dinner like most other holidays. I say if thats the only weekend thats available then go for it.
  4. We are on a tight budget and we knew that flowers and decor were one area we could cut out almost completely. I really am not bringing any decor with us, and we are only have flowers for our wedding party, which really helped cut down the costs of getting flower centerpeices, arrangements, ect. Some people feel that the decor helps make their wedding special and are okay with spending money on it. It really depends what you find important to spend your money on for you.
  5. We are getting married at the Gazebo on the beach. I had really wanted to get married in a Catholic Church but it just didn't work out, for various reasons.
  6. They are really handy. They are almost like a gift card I guess.
  7. Hi Ladies, I am putting together my ceremony and I'm just not sure the order of the sand ceremony and the signing of the registar - which comes first?
  8. Thanks for the suggestions, I was totally stumped on what to use but these are all great choices!!
  9. Welcome to this site! Choosing a location was by far the hardest part of my wedding planning thus far. It look us about a month to find the perfect location that has everything we wanted and fit the budget. We started by writing down what was important to us (size of resort, family friendly, cost, location from airport, ammenities at resort, ect). From there we really researched about 5 of the resorts more closely to get more info. Then we went to a Travel agent who helped us narrow down our choices even further. Good luck with your decision. The dreams resorts are truly beautiful resorts. Our second choice, beside the resort we are getting married at in Jamaica, was Dreams Riviera Cancun!
  10. Welcome! When I was first engaged I really was set on getting married in Italy. I have travelled there in the past and absolutely fell in love with it. There were a few reasons we didn't choose that. Firstly, we decided it would be easier (for us and guests) to go the all inclusive route. All inclusive resorts are mostly only found in carribean destionations. Secondly, we were all coming from Canada, so Italy just wasn't in the budget for us, or family, and it was exteremly important to have family involved. My best advice would be to try to make a list of what you are looking for in a destionation and then go from there. Our budget was also a main factor in choosing Jamaica as it was more reasonably priced then some of the other caribbean destionations. Good luck with your decision! For us choosing the location took about a month, but in the end all our research payed off!
  11. Welcome! Try finding the threads specific to those locations. You should be able to find the information you are looking for on there!
  12. Welcome! We didn't do a wedding website as we are having a pretty small group (16 of us) and felt like no one would really look at it anyways. We did send out STDs about a year in advance and our invitations about 6 months in advance. About two months prior to our wedding we are sending out pre travel brochures with a bit more information for our guests. Happy planning!
  13. We chose a destionation wedding and partly because we knew my FI biological father would not come (He has never been apart of my FI life, until we announced our engagement and he won't get on an airplane)
  14. This is very frustrating, thankful we have a close family friend as our TA. Is there someone else you could speak with where she works? Like her boss or manager or what not? Maybe they can provide you with some answers or know what to do. I would also suggest speaking with her and stating that you are frustrated and worried and hoping things are okay. Its their job, so don't feel bad! Its your wedding and you don't need the additional stress of a bad TA!
  15. These are all great ideas! We aren't doing the traditional father/daughter dance but instead will be combinging the father/daughter dance and mother/groom dance. I am trying to find songs that would work. Does anyone have any ideas?
  16. I considered buying the flip flop playing cards from OTC, but decided against. Firstly, they are really small, almost child sized. I felt that I wanted cards that were close to normal size. Also, Im not sure if our guests would use them again because of their size. I know a friend ordered some of these for her childs birthday party for the goodie bags and they were a hit with the little girls. They aren't the best quality but not the worse either. I guess it really depends what your looking for.
  17. Thanks for sharing! I have been looking for playing cards and I will have to check out that site!
  18. This is something we really contemplated. It is tradition to give the parents and in laws gifts at weddings, same as the wedding party. For our wedding party we paid for their attire, shoes, and accessories as our gift to them. They will be getting OOT bags. The parents and in laws will be getting OOT bags as well. Rather then getting them something else before the wedding we have told them we will be making an album (either from shutterfly or a site like that) for them of all our wedding pictures, rather then spending money on something else they wont use/dont need.
