  1. Congrats on your engagement. I can relate to how you are feeling. When we first decided we wanted a DW we had lots of people say they couldnt afford to come and our parents were pushing for us to get married in Canada rather then going away. I finally realized that it my FI and I special day and we need to do what we want. I wanted a DW and that meant making some sacrifices for sure. Ultimately you need to decided what you want to do , and people will support your decision no matter what. I feel that in the long run a DW is definetly the cheaper way to go. And August 2012 is do able!
  2. Welcome, I am not getting married at Moon Palace. For my wedding we chose to contact the resort directly for the wedding planning details, such as confirming a date and time and all the other wedding related details. However, for our travel we chose to work with a Travel agent as it ended up being less headaches. Here in Canada, to all inclusive destinations you get package deals, where everything (travel, flights, airport transfers, hotel rooms) are all included in one price. It was just easier to go through a travel agent to deal with all that. Good luck with your planning!!
  3. The only options we have been given were the Grill or Dolce Vita. And when we enquired about a buffet they said no, its a plated dinner with one menu for all. Are you paying to rent it out?
  4. That could make for some really beautiful pictures!! As much as I hate to admit it, im really excited for snow, because that means its that much closer to my wedding!
  5. Thanks so much! Its beautiful! Everytime I look at your pictures it makes me that much more excited for my wedding!!
  6. Everything looks great! Where did you get your bracelet from? I have been looking for something similar!
  7. I'm quite worried about my hair and my bangs with the humidity as well. My best friend, who happens to be a hairdresser, (who won't be with me in Jamaica when I get married-shes having a baby!) suggested a few products for my hair that I will be taking with me to the spa when I get married and asking them to use them. Try finding some humidty products you can take with you and ask them to use them. They may have something similar as well, but better to be safe then sorry! and p.s.- I like #1!
  8. This is one are we are struggling with. We are trying to decide how much to give to them and how to go about it. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!
  9. Our inital budget was $10 000 but we are now down to about $7000.
  10. I always order directly from the apple online store. http://www.apple.com/ca/ipod/
  11. We are going to be sending out a pre travel brochure, probably mid november to beat the Christmas mail rush! I have made them on Vistaprint but just waiting for a good sale to order them.
  12. I love the dresses and the color!! I don't think it will be to green! Good luck with the move to Edmonton, it really is a beautiful city!
  13. I'm sorry to hear this. When we were first booking our wedding we got quotes from a few companies including sunquest, air canada, and transat. Sunquest was definetly the cheapest but my TA had worked with them before and had nothing good to say about them. She said they had cancelled a brides flight the week before her wedding for no apparent reason and she had to scramble to find other flights for that wedding group. We decided we would pay an extra hundred dollars to not work with sunquest, and in the end transat ended up matching sunquests price. Its just so darn frustrating!
  14. Welcome!! Congrats on your engagement, sounds like it was perfect! We are getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica, and like you we fell in love with the resorts after staying at the one in the Mayan. Good luck with your planning!
  15. Welcome! For us choosing the location was by far the hardest part of everything. We did tons of research on tons of resorts. We also made a list of what we wanted ina resort (size, location, amenities, cost, wedding packages offered ect.) From there we were able to make our decision. Good luck!
  16. Welcome! And congrats on being newly engaged!! Good luck with your planning!
  17. Another bride gave me this link, but I thought I would pass it on. For anyone looking for steel drum wedding music, this is a great site. I purchased the mp3 for $6 dollars and was emailed the link within an hour to download them all. We had looked into a steel drum band for our wedding in Jamaica, but for $400/hr it wasn't worth the money to us. Here is the site: http://www.steeldrummusic.net/buycds.html
