Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

The mixed grill includes a peice of steak, chicken and pork along with roasted potatoes and vegetables. We tipped the wedding planners the next day after the wedding when we picked up all our things (chair sashes ect). We didn't give them monetary tips but rather gave them some nice lotions and bath stuff. They seemed to be really excited about it. -

We brought our own chair sashes. We brought a total of 20 and they come flat in a small package. Let me tell you they were really easy getting there, but coming back it was a pain as they were all crinkled and wouldn't fit back in the package. We used organza ones so they were really super light. I would highly suggest using the resorts chair sashes if you need a large number of them and they have the color you want. They didn't have the color I wanted so I brought my own. Maybe it was you who gave me that site! lol I can't honestly remember. I still listen to some of them every once and awhile too!! -

We used this site to purchase our steel drum music. Its really great quality and much more affordable then hiring a live steel drum band. http://www.steeldrummusic.net/buycds.html -

We tipped our photographer, Merrick Cousley. We tipped him $50 and gave it to him after our dinner right before he was leaving. We were so happy with his service so we felt it was a fair tip. -

No problem, glad I can help! You would think they would include more detail on a lot of things to avoid repeat questions from brides to be, but I guess maybe they haven't figured that out yet:)! -

If you are not big meat eaters I would probably not chose the Grill. I would try to change your dinner to the Dolce instead. -

I know they do 3 weddings per day, mostly every day, except Sundays. I don't know if they have started doing weddings on Sundays, but when I was planning my wedding they told me at that time no weddings Sundays. I know there have been a few people married on the beach instead of in the gazebo. Its a pretty big area to the right of the gazebo that they use. The sand is pretty rocky, not sure you want to go on it without shoes on. 6pm is the earliest time for dinner as thats when the restaurants open. I don't think you can have it sooner as they would have to hire chefs to come in earlier to prepare your meal. We were legally married in Jamaica and honestly it wasn't alot of work. We had to provide copies of our passports and birth certificates, thats all. It cost $200 to have our legal ceremony in Jamaica. So it is neither difficult nor expensive. -

We had our reception meal at the Grill. We had the mixed grill and it included small pieces of beef, chicken and pork and vegetables and potatoes. There was no fish or seafood on the plate at all. We also had the chicken ceaser salad, beef soup and cheesecake and it was all amazing. We actually went back the next night just so we could eat more of the soup! -

We purchased ours through our travel agent. I think it was around $100 for travel and comprehensive medical coverage for 8 days. -

If I remember correctly it was about $8-10 dollars. We brought our own music on a CD. We had 4 songs for before the wedding, I think a total of 4 songs for the wedding ceremony (one for maid of honor, one for me to walk down, one for sand ceremony and one for leaving gazebo) and then another 4 songs for after the ceremony during the champagne. I also took 2 cds just incase one didnt work. -

We had our speeches at our dinner. We didn't do anything formal and fancy, just informal little speeches. There was honestly no one sitting even close to us during our dinner so we never felt like we weren't private. I had my hair and makeup done by the spa at the resort and I was super happy with the job they did. My hair normally doesn't hold curls well at all and they used this magic spray (they call cement spray) and it held my hair nicely all day long. -

I can't help you in regards to the Unforgettable package. We used the free package. That being said we only paid for an extra bouquet, bouteneeir and two extra people for dinner, plus the minister fees. All together it was $330. We were married at 4pm. We had to meet the wedding planners at 345pm in the lobby (myself, my maid of honor, my parents who were walking me down the aisle) and they took us by golf cart to the site. Our ceremony lasted approx 20 minutes. After our ceremony they give you champagne and we just chatted with everyone and had our congrats for probably 20 minutes. After that we took our family type photos and then my husband and I went off with the photographer for photos. Everyone else either went to their room to freshen up or to the lobby bar. We were done our photos about 6pm (it was dark already) so we met with everyone at the lobby bar for about 20 minutes before going to dinner at 630. I wish we would have had our ceremony at 330 to give us an extra half hour for photos because it did get dark so soon. Our dinner lasted about 2 hours, until 830pm. We then went to the pool side bar which was open until 11pm. We were the only ones there and they had dancing music so we had our own little party. We chose to do that verse pay to rent the gazebo as there was only 18 of us. After that we went to the disco. Hope that helps! -

The beach is man made. Its pretty rocky and not the best beach. There were always lots of loungers and always some with shade. The beach overall isnt very nice. -

I purchased mine from this website http://www.weddinglinensdirect.com/chairsashes.html They were already precut to the proper length. It was worth it for us to save some money as the resort charges $2.50 per each and I beleive we paid around $0.60 per each one. -

Jenn83- I kept checking the prices and noticed that they had gone down. I mentioned it to my TA and she was able to contact Transat and they lowered our price. We just used the free package. We had a smaller group (18 in total) so it made sense for us to use that package verse paying for one. We didn't add any extras at all. We used everything provided from the resort (minus chair ties, which I brought myself) but were pleasently suprised with everything. -

That is true. At all the meals they only provide certain alcoholic drinks like wine and beer, no other drinks. I had my hair half up and half down. Yes, it was really windy at the gazebo and because of that I chose not to wear my veil but I didn't want to compromise on my hair. -

-We brought our own Cd with music on it. We had music they could play before the ceremony while everyone was being seated, our music for our ceremony, and music that they played after our ceremony while we enjoyed the champagne. I would think if you dont bring a CD they would provide some kind of music for you. -I beleive you can do a rehersal the day before. We had the option but chose not to. We rather just went with the flow and everything turned out great. -Our a la carte dinners were pre reserved so when we got there they gave us a paper with all the times and dates. We didn't ask for this so it was a nice suprise. However, that being said, all our reservations were super early, like 6pm, which kind of sucked as it would have been nice to have a few later on. I had my hair and makeup done at the spa and I was really happy with the work they did. I don't even remember the girls name that did my hair but I took her pictures and she basically did it exactly the same. As so makeup, I don't normally wear a lot of makeup so I told her something really simple and neutral and she did just that. Most travel companies have a policy that if you book early in advance and the price drops they will refund you the difference. That happened with us. The price dropped about 6 months before our wedding and we all got to take advantage of the lower price. I would say ask your guests to book as soon as they can as that way you can get a clearer idea of how many people will be there. I know for us we had to give our deposit once booking but didnt have to pay until november (we were married in January). We paid about $2000 per person for 1 week. We flew out of Calgary and chose a direct flight for a little bit more money versus saving $100 for a two stop flight. Quote: Originally Posted by Jenn83 Hi, I am new to this site. My biggest question right now is how early is too early to get our guests to book with our agent. We want them to get the best price and I am worried that if they sign on now, the price will be lower if they just wait a few more months. I have said this to my travel agent but I feel like she just wants to get as much as she can and won't tell us what the lowest price we could expect to pay per person is. Can anyone tell me what their guests paid for a 7 day stay in January? I have been told 1400-1800 per person and I have no idea if this is reasonable, cheap or expensive. I noticed some of you were married this past January, if any of you can reply with the rates you and your guests paid and what month you locked in those prices, I would really appreciate that! Thanks -

Hi there! I would say it took about 15 minutes with the sand ceremony. But then again it may have been shorter or longer, to me if just felt like it flew by really quickly -

Don't trust all the reviews on Tripadvisor. Some people always find the smallest things to complain about. 1. They have a variety of different cake flavors to choose from (chocolate, vanilla, coconut, raspberry ect). The cake comes in a standard two tier design, its pretty basic. There are a few options for the bouquet that you can choose from or you can pay extra to have it upgraded to a different bouquet. You pick these at your pre wedding meeting with the planners. The pre wedding consult is usually 1-2 days after you arrive at the resort. We had a letter in our room telling us when to meet with the planners. At that consult they had a file with all our papers that we filled out and options we had prechose. We picked the meal menu, confirmed the number of guests, and went through other details such as what photographer we were using ect. We also payed for everything at this meeting. We didn't feel rushed at all. 2. If you want a private area for dinner and speeches you have to pay the fee to have it private. Also, I would pre arrange that with the planners before you get to the resort. 3. They give you 4-5 options for each course of the meal that you can choose from. -

Yes, I was able to change everything with it. Once I changed my drivers license most places only wanted to see my name changed on my drivers license and didn't even ask for that peice of paper. Honestly, everyone from those places looked at it and then asked where I was married and they had no idea it wasn't the 'real thing'. To resvere your wedding date you can email the wedding planners or call them. Its probably faster to call them as it takes them awhile to get back via email. The do 3 weddings most days, but not everyday. Honestly, I didn't even notice there were any other weddings on my wedding day. The drive from the Montego Bay airport to the resort for us took about 1hr20mins. It really all depends on traffic and if its day time or night time -

I bought my wedding band during a Valentines sale and I got it for a great price. I saved almost $300 by buying it during that sale. I think it can work to your advantage for sure. -

Why do you need it sooner? If it is to change your name I had no problem changing my name with the piece of the signed register they give you before you leave the resort. -

We used Merrick Cousley and we were so happy with the results I believe the resort photographer changed right after my wedding in January 2012. Also, take note, the resort photography store has multiple photographers, probably 5 or so, so each one may be different in talent. I suppose if you were considering using the resort photographers you could ask for samples of each photographers work to compare them. I don't think there is a 'best' restraurant to have your dinner at, but if you are looking for meat and veg I would say the Grill. We had our supper at the Grill and the food was amazing. They are also really good accomdating food concers as my mom has a severe dairy allergy and they were able to make seperate plates for her. I beleive the suppers start at 6pm at the earliest and I'm sure if there is just the two of you you could probably do a private dinner, I would ask the planners. We booked our excursions once we got to the resort.
