  1. Beautiful dress. I don't think i would have been brave enough to order a dress without trying it on. I hope it works out for you!
  2. What an amazing reminder to live each day! Thank you so much for sharing this.
  3. I would send one invitation to each of your siblings. My two brothers live together, but I still sent them their own invitations so they received one. That way they are getting the invitation and not just second hand information. And whether or not to include the plus one, I basically told my brothers (whom neither were in a serious relationship at the time) that if they wanted to bring someone they could, but in the end neither of them did.
  4. I hope you have a great wedding!! Don't worry about the weather. It said the for the week we were there in January and it rained pretty much every day but usually only for a few minutes, and mostly in the morning or early afternoon. And it dries up just as quick due to the warm sun!!
  5. They had it on file when we arrived. We were in the same section as the rest of the group but they put us up a few floors higher.

  7. I will definetly add you back to the list! Glad you guys worked things out! So your travel dates would be from Dec 10-23/12?? And where do you live again?
  8. As far as I understand the room upgrade just means to a higher floor. All the rooms are the same layout so I dont think it would be a bigger room. We were upgraded to a room higher up with better ocean views. My group was all in the 23000 block, which is the farthest end, the new part, and it was pretty far away from mostly everything. If you want to be central don't ask for rooms there.
  9. We paid for the wedding costs on credit card. They won't charge it to your room, you pay when you meet with them. I have heard in the past the requested cash from some brides for minister fees but I beleive they have just started including this in the credit card transaction. You have to pay for everything on the day you meet with the wedding planners, which is usually 2 or 3 days before your wedding. However, anything done at the spa gets charged to your room, they dont accept any cash or credit card payment there.
  10. I had my hair done at the spa and I was really happy with it. My hair never holds curls normally so I was very worried that with the humidity it wouldnt hold at all. I had my hair half up half down and they curled it and used this amazing spray which they call Jamaican cement. My hair fell a little bit by supper but stayed really well. I was considering doing my hair all up, but Im very glad I didn't. I also took pictures with me from a hair trial I had with my hairdresser before I left, and they pretty much replicated it exactly.
  11. I'm not sure where you are from but I was able to use it to change my name on everything (I live in Alberta, Canada). It is a really funny shape, really long and skinny so everyone I gave it to just assumed it was my official marriage license as most people have never seen a Jamaican marriage certificate and would not have a clue what the official mariage license looks like.
  12. Choosing a photographer for us was a really tough decision as photos are really important to us. We went back and forth between a few different ones before finally deciding on Merrick Cousley. I am so happy we used him, our pictures turned out amazing and he was really easy and fun to work with! Plus he is really reasonably priced. I would highly recommend him to you.
  13. Congrats!!! Your photos are great. Makes me want to go back there, I really miss it!!
  14. If you are getting legally married in Jamaica then you need a Jamaican marriage certificate. The only way you would need one from Iowa is if you are getting legally married before you go to Jamaica, and even in that case you wouldn't need to take it with you. On the day of our wedding we got a little peice of paper from the register we signed that I was able to use to change my name and things. Then about 2 months later they sent us our actual wedding certificate.
  15. We got them a card and brought some nice body lotion/wash with us and gave that to them instead of money.
  16. Is there any way you could call the store and ask. That might be the easiest.
  17. We flew Transat and I was able to carry on my dress. They didnt have any closet to hang it up, however they reserved an overhead bin specifically just for my dress so that things wouldnt be put on top of it. It only had a few small wrinkles that a steam for the shower fixed.
  18. I love the look of short dresses. I guess if your friends are thinking its more of a party dress maybe you could dress it up with a blinged out belt or something. I almost wish I would have gotten a short dress, it would have been so much more cooler!!
  19. I bought my dress locally at a store in the city I live in. I don't think you are crazy at all for going to NYC to find your wedding dress. I dont think its really any different then people flying to their destinations to do site visits before deciding on a destination or resort.
  20. His pants almost look blueish grey. You might have luck finding a grey pair of pants with blue undertones that look like this. I think it would look great with the red.
  21. I think that is kind of the point of the STDs, to get an idea of who would like to come and who wouldn't. As to how many people you invite just know that not all of them will come, but some may suprise you and decide to come when you thought they wouldn't. I say you need to sit down and write a list of who you will invite while knowing how many people you are willing to have at your wedding.
  22. I absolutely agree with jello. It doesnt have to cost them extra money at all. We paid for our bridals partys attire and my MOH did her own makeup and hair. It should have to cost to much more if anything at all more then just coming to your wedding.
