  1. Welcome! I have never been to palace resorts so I can't help you with that, however, my future sister and brother in law were married in Mexico and had a mariachi band and they were fantastic. Definetly made it feel really Mexican!!
  2. I had never even heard about Etsy until recently and love love love that site! So many great, creative things! Thanks for all the ideas.
  3. Our TA said that prices go lower closer to departure dates, so for example, its Jan 11 now if you were going in March 11 prices would be slightly lower, with that being said, often you can get early booking discounts that ofter are better then waiting for these cheaper prices. Our TA told us you can also get something so if prices drop you get the lower price, I think she said its about 50 dollars per persons (not sure who all offers this though). Hope this helps.
  4. I have never been to that resort, but I do go on trip advisor alot! I have found that some people complain about the littlest things. Some people complain about the resort being to big, or to small. You will get some negative resorts even at the top rated resorts. Don't get discouraged!
  5. So exciting!! Four more days and I can say the same!!
  6. Don't give up!! I have never been to the Dominican so I can't help you there. Do lots of google searches, I found some weddings at my resort that way.
  7. Congrats! Yours pictures are beautiful and your dress is stunning!
  8. I love your OOT bags! Even thought they were tedious they turned out great!
  9. Hi everyone! I'm not from Calgary (from Medicine Hat) but will be coming to Calgary to go dress shopping. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions of places to go to? I don't know any of the bridal stores in Calgary! Thanks so much!
  10. Congrats on your engagment! We are not getting married at the Royal so I can't help you with that! We went to a travel agent, who is a family friend, and she gave us some numbers for prices and what not and then kind of gave us an outline. As we arent getting married until 2012, pricing and flight itinerary isnt available (in Canada at least). But once those are available we will go back to her and find all the little details out. After that we are planning on sending out her information with our invitations so our guests can chose to contact her or make their own travel arrangements. Hope this helps!
  11. Congrats on your engagement:) At first things can seem super overwhelming, but try to stay positive. We made a list of what is super important to us and we are going to try to stick to it and the things at the top of the list need to be done and things at the bottom will only be done if we have time/money. Sit down and make a list of everything you can think of and then organize them to what is important, that will help you! Try not to get to overwhelmed! You still have time! Good luck and hope you can find lots of useful information here:)
  12. Congrats....It's always nice to have it narrowed down, now just to pick one! I swear once we picked a location and confirmed a date all my stress (related to the wedding at least, Im a full time student as well!) went away! Let us know your choice:)
  13. Congrats on your engagment:) I am not indian, nor have planning an indian wedding but im sure you will find tons of useful information on this site!! Happy planning:)
  14. I also find facebook (if you are signed up) usually has pages for resorts and you can see other people's pictures (which give you a different persective, then just resort page pictures) and also talk with people who have been there.
  15. Thanks for all the advice. My FMIL only has two sons, and the other was married in Mexico about two years ago. There wedding was only immediate family and close friends as well and ever since that wedding she feels that she should be able to invite who ever she wants to be there. We have tried to explain to her the cost of everything (they are only giving us 2000 to begin with for the wedding) and she doesn't seem to understand. I think im going to have to get my FI to sit down with her and tell her that it's only immediate family and our close friends, not hers! If she wants to go on vacation with them , well then plan another time!
  16. Welcome! And congrats:) I have heard Playacar Palace in the Mayan is beautiful!!
  17. So my FI and I are planning our dream destination wedding. The first thing we did was sit down and decide on a guest list. We wanted to only have immediate family and a few close friends for a few reasons, to keep cost down, and because we both have huge families. The problem is now my FMIL has started informally inviting all of her friends telling them they can come, even after we have both expressed that we have chosen our guest list. How do we go about 'uninviting' these people?? And a few had said well if we show up there is nothing you can do about it?! (like seriously, I would never do that) and how do you deal with these people. I'm starting to get extremely frustrated!!! Please help!
