  1. At first my parents were wondering why we would have to pay for a wedding dinner when we were at an All inclusive resort. However, after explaining to them that it was basically a surcharge for extra staff needed to accomodate a larger group they understood. I think every resort is different but most seem to have some kind of a charge.
  2. I meant after your ceremony, not reception, sorry for any confusion!
  3. In the book of packages she sent us it says the champagne ceremony after the reception is not included, but you can pay I think 15 or 20 dollars per person to have it. You still get to do your cake cutting and first dance after your reception, you just dont get the champagne, at least thats what Beverly told us?! I'm confused now!
  4. The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea is really nice!
  5. Valentines day! How awesome. You should never forget your anniversary!! We are having a very small wedding, just immediate family and a few close friends, so we really didn't want to go way overboard with things. We know that we want to have a sand ceremony so we will definitely be doing that. Happy Planning:)
  6. Congrats on your engagement! If you do a search you should be able to find some threads where you can find information. Happy planning:)
  7. Congrats and welcome! It can be a little overwhelming at first, but I found that once we booked the date the fun really begins (dress shopping ect!) You will be able to find tons of useful information on this site! Happy planning:)
  8. Congrats on your engagment and welcome to the forum:) I could spend hours on here!! And vista print is my new favorite web site!!! I hope you find tons of useful information on here. Happy planning!
  9. Thats good that you got a hold of her. She is usually pretty quick to reply to my emails, usually less then a few weeks. You have to only be in Jamaica for a minimum of 24 hours, but the resort requires 48. Beverly sent us a package with all the wedding packages, legal requirements, and any extras you can add on, see if you can get that from her. We are using the free package therefore don't have anything to put a deposit on, but Beverly said we would have to put a deposit three months before the wedding date if we decided to use any of the other packages but couldnt put one down until we had our travel and accomodations booked. Hope that helps! What date did you pick??
  10. Hi girls! We have booked our wedding date! Its super exciting. One year from tomorrow! Anyways my FI and I were discussing wedding music and we thought maybe we would want to hire the steel drum band. We are going with the free wedding package, so we don't have the champagne after the ceremony. When you book, you must book the band for at least one hour, which is $400. We don't know if it would be worth it to book the band as it would just be for our wedding ceremony, which I don't imagine would be longer then about a half hour. It just seems like a lot of money for a few minutes worth of music! If you used the steel drum band would you recommend it or do you think it would be worth the money?
  11. Welcome to this forum! TripAdvisor can be helpful, but at the same time just remember some people are super picky about certain things. Some people have really high expectations going to a resort while others don't. Some people like to find anything negative to pick apart. You can not rely on TripAdvisor only as you might drive yourself crazy going over the negative reviews. There is never going to be a place where everyone is 100% happy. I think if you already scheduled a vacation there then you must have thought it would be a great place to go! We are using a TA for a few reasons (she is a family friend). Because we are a small group we could have probably not used one but I thought it would be easier on myself knowing that our guests can go to her about any travel questions such as pricing and whatnot. As well, this way we will all be on the same flights, and she can get us a group discount. We are also giving people the option of booking their own travel packages as well so they don't feel obligated to use our TA, but then they will not qualify for the group discount.
  12. This is the one listed on their website: [email protected]
  13. I haven't heard of it either. Try searching here or google, even trip advisor might help.
  14. I also am having this dilemma. I fell in love with a dress in a store. It is just under my budget for a dress, but I was hoping to find something a bit cheaper. I have found some dresses online on Davids Bridal that I love (I live in Canada and nearest store is 8 hours away, and styles I love are online only). They are anywhere between 600-700 dollars cheaper then the one I found in a store. I'm just nervous about ordering online and what If I don't like it, or they don't fit right?!
  15. Wow, both are absolutely stunning on you. I like them both for different reasons. I feel that you need to do what feels right for you. If you can't stop thinking about dress 1 then maybe thats the right one for you! I think either will work, but its your wedding and your special day and you need to chose whats best for you!
  16. So my FI talked with his mother and she apologized to me and said that she shouldn't have done that and she told the people she invited that they were not allowed to come! I'm glad we now have that sorted out! Thanks everyone for your advice!
