  1. I would suggest reading some threads on the DR and Costa Rica areas to get more information about past and future brides. Also, working with a travel agent might help you along in providing some pros and cons to each location. Happy wedding planning!
  2. Welcome! I hope you find tons of helpful information on here, I sure did when planning my wedding!!
  3. Welcome! Happy wedding planning!
  4. I think any carribean destination has the potential to be rainy. I was married in Jamaica in January and it did rain pretty much everyday, but usually for like 5 minutes and then it finished. The longest it rained was probably 15 minutes, and that was the morning or our wedding. By the afternoon all the rain had dried up from the hot sun and it was beautiful out! I think it also depends on when you go as each destination has their rainy season.
  5. I love these!! They look great! We also did STD magnets, and still, even after our wedding people still have them on their fridge!
  6. I agree with AllieH. The cost to ship them down there will be outrageous. Then you have to worry about whether or not they will get there in time, or arrive all in one piece. I would suggest finding some ideas on here if you don't want to pay the fee at the resort, and bring the supplies in your luggage to create your own once you are down there. yes it sucks because it will take up extra space in your suitcase, however, even if you brought an extra suitcase with just your centerpiece items, it will be cheaper then paying the shipping down to your destination.
  7. My husbands wedding ring is made of titanium. There are pros and cons I think to each and every material you choose. He thought he would never really wear his ring so we didn't want to spend too much money on it, and decided that if later on he would wear it we would get a better one (his only cost $30 on Overstock.com). They say that tungsten is indestructible, but that is not always true. The one downside to some rings is that they can't be resized or engraved, such as Tungsten or Titanium. I would say the best thing would be to try lots of rings on and find what feels most comfortable and will be durable.
  8. I don't think I would have had such an amazing wedding without this website. It truly is an amazing resource!!
  9. We never paid a deposit as we had the free package, but from what I understand you pay 25% of the cost of the wedding package, but none of the extras, you pay for those down there.
  10. Yes, I think it will definitely be too small of a time frame, but if anything does change I will definitely let you know!

  12. I would love to do that. The only thing that I'm worried about is the bride before you doesn't return until December 23. What day do you leave? With the holidays in there it might be tight to get it to you on time.
  13. Have an amazing time! Can't wait to hear about it when your back!
  14. Thats unfortunate, but oh well. You will still have an amazing wedding, heat an all I'm sure!!
  15. I hope you are able to book who you want. Also, the one regret from my wedding is that we didnt hire a videographer to save money. I really wish we had.
  16. I would send out your STDs anytime. The more notice the better so people have time to save up money. That being said there is a big time difference from now until your wedding so people might not be able to commit to anything until later on and their plans may change. It doesnt hurt to send them out and get a general idea of about how many people are interested in coming.
  17. There are a few starfish being passed around from bride to bride. The starfish goes in your bouquet on your wedding day. Its a nice thing to use as your something borrowed for your wedding.
