  1. Congrats on deciding on a dress!!!
  2. Yeah they were! I didn't know that until I called my parents to tell them the date changed. And whats even weirder is my FI and I were engaged December 14 and thats the very same day my grandparents were engaged and we didn't know that either!
  3. Maybe that day wont be so bad. It turns out my grandparents were married on a friday the 13th and they have been married for over 55 years, so maybe it will be good luck! I have never had any bad luck either. Although, when I told my dad we had to change the date he was kind of upset, but he will get over it haha. Yeah its a bummer but at least I know with 10 months to go then a few months before and have to change everything. We will probably run into you!! We will be leaving the resort on the 16th to go to a different one for our honeymoon! Welcome! I hope you found tons of useful information in the past 119 pages!! That must have taken a bit of time!
  4. I am having a mini meltdown today! We had booked our wedding date, a Tuesday, awhile back after our travel agent told us that Transat flys to Jamaica on Fridays out of Calgary. Well she just called us and told us Transat is changing their flights to Mondays out of Calgarys and now I have been forced to change my wedding date! I just called down there and the only day I could change it to is Friday the 13th. Maybe I'm being crazy but I don't really want to get married that day! My FI says 'its just another day'. Our only other option is to go with a different vacation company but then we will lose our group rate which was really good! Ugh, I just want to cry!! On a happier note, I bought my dress a few days ago!!!
  5. Everything looks great! I especially love that cake topper!!
  6. Wow everything looks spectacular!! Thanks so much for sharing all your great ideas!
  7. I bought my dress last week! I thought it was super early to, but according to the lady not that early. Its going to take 6 months to get my dress in and then I will have to do some alterations (hemming for sure) and she also said that because we are getting married in January you have to consider the time most places take off over Christmas and New Years. Happy shopping! I found a dress I loved and its not what I had in mind. Its not really beachy but more formal but I fell in love. I wanted the cheaper, lighter, flowier dresses to work, but I just didn't feel as pretty in them! I think you need to just buy what you feel right in! Good luck!
  8. Just consider all the time you have to plan!! Time will go by so quickly! We will be engaged for a little over a year when we get married, and already time has flown by so quickly! Enjoy the time you have! Happy planning!
  9. We just don't have the money for this as we are paying for this wedding ourselves and we are both students. Thanks for the opinion though.
  10. Those flip flops are so pretty! I may have to look on etsy ( I have been desperately trying to stay away haha, I always find a million things I love!)
  11. My girls will be wearing a similar blue to yours and they are doing silver flip flops.
  12. Wow, thanks so much for all the ideas! I was kind of stalled with the planning and not to sure of what to do next but you have given me some great ideas of what I can be working on now until we get a final guest count!
  13. I had all intention of paying for my own dress. I found the perfect dress and took my mom to show here and while I went to the washroom she payed for my dress! She told me she had been saving for awhile so she could suprise me and pay for my dress for me!
  14. I'd go with it too. We are each having two people stand up for us, and we are calling both my girls MOHs and his boys best men! You can really do whatever you want to!
  15. I'm so glad your FI parents are excited about a DW. For us, I had always told my parents I was going to go away and get married and they were absolutely thrilled with the idea. My older brother was engaged and were planning their wedding in our hometown. It was ridiculously expensive and about two months before the wedding my brothers FI decided she didn't want to marry my brother. There was lots of money that was lost because of this. Also, my FI older brother was married in Mexico so his parents were excited about the idea as well! We had some family members who were not to happy we had decided on a DW. I am the first grandchild on one side of my family to get married and I know most of that side of my family was disappointed as many of them won't be coming. We didn't care though, we knew we wanted our immediate family and that's all that mattered to us, anyone else is extra!
  16. Can anyone answer this question: We are planning on just using our ipod for our ceremony music. Seeing as the cake cutting and champagne toast are right after the ceremony, do they usually continue to play your music at that time as well? We are just curious to figure out how much music we need to plan on having. Also, how long does the champagne toast, cake cutting and stuff after the ceremony usually take?
