  1. We are getting married at 3pm and dinner starts at 6pm. At first we had booked 4pm but didn't think that would be enough time in between. At the resort we are marrying at right after the ceremony you do a champagne toasts and then the cake cutting and first dance. Between all that and pictures we wanted to ensure we had enough time. Also, the time of year we are getting married the sun sets around 550pm so we wanted to ensure enough day light to get adequate pictures.
  2. We first went directly through the resort to confirm our wedding date. Once we had a confirmed wedding date we then found a Travel Agent which we wanted to work with, shes a family friend, and had her make a group proposal. Once we received the quotes for our group proposal we emailed all our potential guests all the information and told them to get in contact with her to book their travel. I know in Canada mostly everything is all inclusive vacation packages with flight and hotel together so it was easier for us to just tell everyone to contact the travel agent and book that part through her. We did end up having to change our wedding date as the flight dates out of Calgary changed but we just called the resort and changed the date directly with them. Hope that helps!
  3. We were going to do two different colors but decided on just one in the end! I think either way it looks great!
  4. I ordered mine from http://www.weddingstar.com/product/paper-parasol-with-bamboo-boning As I live in the city where the warehouse is I received it the next day!
  5. I bought mine already but FI hasnt bought his yet. We decided to buy mine as I knew exactly what I wanted and found it on 50% sale at the store, we had the money and thought might as well buy it now then wait till its not on sale. We saved ourselves over $400 dollars. FI knows what he wants but we are just waiting until hopefully it will go on sale soon! I don't think there is a set time to buy it.
  6. Thats aweful customer service! Thanks so much for the warning about this company!
  7. I really like that dress! I think the torso may be just a bit to long and its making you look boxy and really super short. Can the seamstress sew in some bra cups so then you wont have to wear a bra? Then that way you wont have to worry about not having a panel in the back.
  8. I was torn between two dresses. The first one was one that I really loved but it was a ballgown and made of taffeta which will be pretty hot. The second was a lighter more flowy dress. I eventually decided on the first dress as it was the one I loved and I figured Ill be hot in anything anyways!
  9. Wow, this is something I would have never thought of bringing! And I love the idea of putting them in the OOT bag!
  10. They are great. If only there was a Christmas Tree Store nearby!
  11. I'm sure no matter what you chose to do it will always be special to you, and Hawaii is truly a beautiful place! Good luck with everything!
  12. At first our ceremony was scheduled to close to the sunset time so we wouldn't have been able to do many pictures, but we did change out ceremony time so we will have lots of time to do pictures after, which I really didn't want to see FI until the wedding, but I guess it all depends on how you feel about it:)
  13. Hi and welcome! We are getting married the week before you are wanting to get married. We will be there January 9-16, 2012. When I booked my date I found it easier to just call down there and ask what dates were available and times on certain dates and then that way it wasn't back and forth emails and waiting for those emails. We chose to get married at 3pm as sun sets about 550pm. We were originally going to get married at 4pm but pushed it to 3pm as we thought then that way we wouldn't be to rushed with everything. We are flying out of Calgary at the rate we booked with is $1830pp tax included so the rate you got is pretty similar. Our TA told us it was a really good price, especially for January as thats considered high season. What company is that quote for? We are going with Transat and we also chose them as every 16th person goes free.
  14. Everything looks great! Thanks so much for sharing all your ideas!
  15. Congrats on setting a date and a location! Try searching to see if there are other brides for SE Asia! Happy planning:)
