  1. I think you just need to determine if going over budget on your dream dress is feasible and worth it. My dress luckily was under budget, but I was prepared to go a bit over budget if my dream dress was a bit more money. Is there anywhere else you could cut to cover the extra budget. I had considered ordering a dress online but personally know a few people who have and in the end they went and just spent the money on the real dress after receiving their online dress. They didn't compare. However, there are brides on here who have ordered online and had luck. I guess you just need to determine if you love it that much and if its worth paying a bit extra for it.
  2. Oops, didn't post my response. Wow, sounds like this are coming along nicely! I'm so excited to register! So far there is 14 plus my FI and I booked right now. Only 8 more months to go!

  4. Not quite sure why it won't let me post my comments with a quote, anyways.... I found this thread helpful in making the ceremony more personal. We used some ideas from here and are slowly starting to piece it together. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/21660/share-your-ceremony-script Hope this helps!
  5. Quote:Originally Posted by BusyBee123 Thanks so much for all of your kind words! I really appreciate it! I was just so appalled that someone would have the nerve to say that to my face, that I had to vent to someone! So thanks again ladies! This forum is a god send! Overnight, I took some time to think about it again, and you know what, it is our day!! All of our close friends and family have booked, even those who are financially strapped right now! And the more and more I think about it, the happier I am that I'm not having a huge 200+ person wedding here and having to invite acquaintances such as those who made that awful comment yesterday. Part of the reason for us wanting a destination wedding (apart from the beautiful scenery) was to keep the group small and intimate! And at the end of the day, we couldn't be happier with our decision! Lsmith - thanks for posting the ceremony script! I really appreciate it! We're doing a non-religious ceremony, so I'm going to email Chandlyn and see if she can send me that one as well. Perhaps I'll start looking around online to check out what some others have used in their ceremony to make it more personal! If anyone has any fabulous resources, I'd love to see them! Thanks again ladies and have a great weekend!
  6. I think it depends how heavy the flower is and your hair type. I know for me I have extremely fine hair and nothing seems to stay in my hair. Maybe check with the hair salon on how they would attach it to your hair.
  7. Quote:Originally Posted by JQLong I honestly think it looks beautiful as is. Your hair, makeup & flowers will pull it together very nice. Other than adding a colored sash or rhinestones (not even sure where..) the dress needs very little additions. Hope that helps!
  8. These have been so helpful in trying to write our ceremony script. We are doing a legal ceremony and just curious about when we do the signing of the marriage certificate?
  9. Didn't mean to just post your quote! I accidentally deleted my response, oops! Anyways... I'm sorry you are having a frustrating day! I know how you feel. We had some people at first who didn't understand our decision to have a destination wedding and thought we were being selfish to ask everyone to travel to Jamaica to celebrate our wedding. At first this upset me but then I thought that its our special day and we are going to have the wedding we want to have if that means doing it in Jamaica! I think a lot of the time people don't understand a destination wedding and don't realize that you are not paying for their wedding. I just tell them it will be free whether they show up or not! Just remember its your wedding and you should do what you want! Not what everyone else wants you to do. In regards to the ceremony, im pretty sure past brides have written their own ceremony. Otherwise a standard ceremony script is used.

She seemed really surprised, then asked if anyone was actually going to show up! I was explaining to her that we had 18 booked so far....then she had the nerve to say: "i think destination weddings are just a way of getting your guests to pay for your wedding". I was shocked!!! I definitely am not asking my guests to pay for my wedding by any means!!!! I'm busy working away on OOT bags and planning an excursion for my guests to thank them for traveling all this way to our wedding. I was shocked that someone could think that, let alone say that!!! Am I the only one who has ever heard this? I was appalled!! I think I'm still in shock! Then following that she actually said something about the ceremony that made me think... For those who have already done this, did you have a chance to talk to either the minister or the wedding coordinators about what you actually want said at your ceremony? Did you have to write your own vows? Did you prepare readings, or did they have a standard ceremony prepared? I was planning to bring something for them to read for the sand ceremony, but hadn't thought about it beyond that! Also, was there a microphone so that your guests could hear what you were saying, or is it close enough that you don't have to worry about that? Any ceremony tips would be much appreciated! In the rush of things to do, it sounds like I managed to forget about what's most important...the ceremony itself!
  11. We are also flying Transat so this is good to know!
  12. I was wondering the same thing! I will definately try the washer.
