So I'm guessing today you went for your second fitting. Exciting!! Hopefully everything went well! Thank you. I was, and am, very happy! This was my wedding dress: There are more pictures on this link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/77209/puccas-wedding-and-ttd-photos It was quite light and quite comfortable, although piling into the car with the whole skirt was no easy task! I think trains are fine for a beach wedding. My dress had a train, though not that long. It was bustled for the reception so I didn't have to keep dragging it around in the sand all night (my reception was also on the sand). I'm not sure if I got any sand in my train though because when you're taking photos, you're always moving and repositioning your train. In order to make sure the train wasn't all bunched up in the photos, I'd occasionally fluff it out; so whatever sand may have been there all got shaken out. I certainly don't remember tons of sand falling out of my dress at the end of the night when I took it off. So personally, I think that if you want a train, get/keep a train, and don't worry about the sand. It is, after all, a beach wedding.

This dress is absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure it is the right one for you! Plus it's perfect for a beachy wedding!! You don't want to be too weighed down by all the fabric in your dress. This looks perfect! When everything comes together on your wedding day you will know that it was the right one, especially considering you cried when you first put it on! So don't second-guess yourself! It's known to happen though, I know, because I second-guessed my non-traditional choice despite walking out of the store smiling till my face hurt when I put down the deposit (I didn't tear up; instead I smiled and laughed all the way to my car). So when I went with my friend to shop for her wedding, I tried on some more traditional ones at her suggestion so that I would know what I might look like in a more traditional wedding dress. I came away knowing that I had made the right choice and to this day, almost 7 months later, I love the choice I made and it makes me want to put the dress back on and get married all over again! It gets hard to envision how the complete picture sometimes when you wait for months for your dress. But like everyone has said, it is a beautiful dress and I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in it!

Thank you ladies. I appreciate all your kind words. And yes Taryn, I have heard all those negative comments. And yes, it's really annoying to hear them. I don't know why people have those comments but perhaps it's because they feel like they're giving us a dose of "reality". Or perhaps it is because some people married people they shouldn't have but didn't know it at the beginning, so their disenchantment is being generalized. Or, my hubby tells me it's because some people are envious and want to throw that dart our way. In any event, we have made a commitment to make every effort to keep things just as wonderful as they are now after 3 years of dating even if we know that there will be challenges thrown our way (and we've had quite a few). And I'm confident that I won't be one of those people 5 or 10 years down the road who see newlyweds and tell them those negative things. And I'm sure you ladies won't either! So just enjoy yourself and disregard any negative commentary. There's no room for that in married life!

Beautiful dress! I'd go with wedges if you're not going to do heels. If you're getting married on grass but are going to have an aisle runner, you could try heels. And definitely color! At least that's my feeling. Good luck!

I have short lashes so I wanted to wear fake eyelashes. I bought this kit from Ulta (I think it was, although I have seen some at the drug stores) which contained the individual lashes rather than the whole strip. I used the "medium" length ones for the inner half of my eyes and used some "long" ones for the outer half. I have tried the whole strip lashes and personally I felt that these individual ones were much more natural-looking. The only problem is that I had a hard time doing it myself, so one of my good friends offered her help. She practiced on me a month or so before the wedding and then did it again the day of the wedding. They looked fabulous and non-porno like. They do fall out if you rub your eyes or wash your eye make-up off, but I just used some eye make-up remover and rinsed real carefully so that I could have them on the next day. They stayed on great but I pulled them all off by the end of the 2nd day because my eyelids began to itch from having something adhered to them for 48 hours. Congratulations ladies on your 6-month anniversary, passed and coming up! I'm not sure we're doing anything specific as my mother will be visiting us. We may all go to Atlantic City to celebrate Mother's Day and our 6-month anniversary all rolled into one I guess; that's something on our agenda. We haven't really thought about our one-year anniversary yet. Life has sort of given me some whiplash currently as my father passed away at the end of March. So it has been quite a ride, combining happy newlywed life with the sorrow of losing a parent. Anyway, I wish you all continued happiness and wonderful celebrations at 6 months, 9 months, and one year as well as every month in between! And I will be checking in every now and then to see what's going on.

Have you thought about sending out a regular invitation and then setting up a website to which you can refer guests to for all the necessary information? I think if you really want these invitations, that might be the way to go. That way you can minimize the inserts, and therefore minimize the costs. Another option would be making your own invitations but I'm not sure how much time you have available to put those together. You could also use Vistaprint to get inserts for free; they have a lot of free offers where you'd only have to pay shipping and handling; just google Vistaprint and you'll see links to their website. I really like the Nine West flip flops; they're very beachy yet pretty, although the dragonfly one is really cute; I would love a pair of those just because. Ha ha. Well, I'm not sure if your difficulty comes from choosing a style or choosing a budget. I don't know what your idea of "expensive" is because there is such a range of wedding dresses out there. There's a thread on this forum that talks about how much brides spent on their wedding dresses and if you take a look at it, it varies just like the availability of dresses out there. Everyone has their own idea of what a wedding dress means to them and how much they want to spend on it. So once you've decided what your budget is, go and try on some dresses. Dresses in pictures and on the rack look very different than dresses on you so it's important that you try some on. If you are solely concerned about budget, look in non-traditional places. For instance, JCrew or Nordstroms has some beautiful dresses that are not as expensive as others can be. You can also go and look at cocktail dresses and find one that you could wear as a wedding dress since some of them could definitely double as a wedding dress -- this is something I considered. If there is a wedding dress designer that you like but you don't want to pay full price for their dress, sign yourself up for the nearest bridal salon(s) mailing list(s). They will send you emails when they have a trunk show -- these trunk shows are a good time to buy wedding dresses at a discount. You can also go online on ebay, and even here, where people are selling their dresses--new or pre-owned. If you're okay with pre-owned, you can get a beautiful dress at less than full price. Sometimes consignment stores also have a wedding dress or two if you're into vintage dresses -- my friend found a beautiful Vera Wang dress at a vintage store and I don't think it was new. But after alterations it looked like it was made for her. So there are a lot of options out there; you just have to decide what it is that you want. And remember to decide whether or not you want to include the cost of alterations in the budget for your wedding dress; I counted alterations as "extra" but ended up spending very little on it so it didn't really matter in the end. Congratulations on your engagement! I don't know about the divorce thing but I do know a lot of brides (including myself) who decided to get legally married in the U.S. to by-pass any headaches that might have come up. Getting your Mexico wedding to be the legal one entails different paperwork requirements and regulations; you should probably talk to your wedding planner at the resort if you have one decided right now, or do an internet search for the requirements. Ultimately it's up to you and what you and your fiance want. Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I'd still get legally married here and not worry about anything in Mexico. There was enough running around to do without having to add that to the list. Good luck and happy planning!
