Congratulations! I'm getting married on the same day! I'm not using a travel agent but I think you should put up a book by date as a suggestion. I don't think it's pressuring them to suggest a date that they should keep in mind; it's helpful for them as well as for you - peace of mind and assurance. Maybe you can put something like "It is recommended that you book by October 1st, 2011". And you can explain that 11/11/11 is a popular date (as I have found out) and so you really would like them to be booked ahead of time so that they don't miss out on rooms in the hotel being sold out. I will probably ask that people make sure they make their lodging reservations by the end of September at the latest. I guess I'm a bit anal like that.

My fiance loves the Beatles too so we'll end up playing quite a few of their songs throughout our wedding. Our first dance song most likely will be "Do You Want to Know A Secret"; we had been thinking about a slower song called "Por Ti" by La Tribu del Sol but I think I want our first dance to be a bit more fun rather than slow.

Congratulations Crystal! I totally understand because I'm getting married outside a resort as well. But you've given yourself plenty of time to plan, which is good!! I started with a lot of researching - on the internet and looking through this forum. There's a lot of information here and a lot of reviews for resorts as well as individual vendors.
