  1. Okay, just read some posts by other people who have used their iPods and it looks like you don't have to bring down anything extra. Just tell the resort you're planning to use an iPod and they should be able to provide the right cables to hook up to their speakers. That's good news.
  2. I think it might be worth it to upgrade, particularly if you're looking to shave some $$ off your budget. A live DJ does the same sort of thing this app does but you pay more! I also saw that if you have an extensive song list, the app takes "requests"; so if you haven't put it on your playlist but you have it in your library, you can actually play it! The only thing I have a question about is how it plugs in to the bigger speaker system and if I need to bring anything extra with me, like one of those docking stations; so I'm trying to find an answer to that. I don't want to assume anything and end up with no music at all! That would make me a little to say the least. Hee hee.
  3. Great advice! I'd also add that the best advice I've received is to do as much planning up front as possible to save myself from stressing out as my wedding day approaches. Plus it enables you to find things for better prices. It's nice to have some time to not do wedding stuff and give yourself a break. And I've found that the less people you bring wedding dress shopping, the better it is for you to actually find THE dress that you love; bring only the person or people whose opinion/s you absolutely value--the rest you can bring when you go for your first fitting. Oh, and to add on to centerpieces being costly, I saw one bride on here who purchased glass vases in the city where the wedding was held, bought some bright green limes, and filled the vase with water and the limes for a simple but elegant centerpiece that was easy on the pocketbook! I thought they looked fabulous! Think outside the box. It helps make your wedding unique as well as saves you some $$. And if you're not sure about things, google it! Or search for threads here on BDW! Chances are if you have a question about something, other brides have already asked it as well, or they're willing to answer your questions if you ask. Congratulations and good luck!!
  4. I salute you and everyone who plans AHRs. I think the wedding alone is enough for me. Maybe you can google some wording suggestions. I do that when I'm stuck. Good luck with everything!
  5. So I was looking at this. It lets you make a custom entry which will enable you to input a giant list of songs so you can just get it started and then let it play for the whole ceremony. It takes a bit of fiddling around with but if you start from scratch to add your own items (i.e. pre-ceremony, groom's procession, etc.) you can just choose to add your custom playlist for the whole wedding ceremony and reception; Originally Posted by ashley1316 I am going to have to check out this app. My only thing is, i would rahter not have someone having to man it. does it just play a song then onto the next without having to click on something?
  6. That's what I said when I read about it, actually on one of the threads here I believe. So I checked it out and I think it's pretty good if you're not looking to use a DJ or get live music! We're planning on using it. Hope it's useful to you too!
  7. My pleasure. Glad to be of some help! Hope you'll share with what look you finally decide on!
  8. Good luck to you too!! I can't believe it's about 4 and a half months away!! No AHR here. Just the legal ceremony before. Are you doing an AHR?
  9. Those are beautiful photos; love the black and white! Beautiful dress too!
  10. I understand how you feel. Suits aren't exactly cheap. I don't know what your wedding colors are or what color your FI has in mind but maybe you can also ask the guys if they already have a suit and what color they are? Maybe they already have a basic black in their closet, which would be the easiest to match since there are a variety of shades of grey or navy so that would be too difficult. But for the sake of being uniform, maybe your FI is willing to compromise on the guys just purchasing a sports coat/blazer and then all wearing the same color pants? Maybe that might be cheaper. Check out Men's Wearhouse online. They're currently have a buy-one-get-one-free sale right now and if your groomsmen have to buy something, this would be a good deal so they'd spend less money. It applies to some suits and applies to a wide variety of blazers/sport coats. If your FI wants a bit of a formal look, what about this? http://photos.weddingbycolor-nocookie.com/p000017343-m151583-p-photo-393271/Purple-Groomsmen-No-jackets-for-a-beach-wedding--I-love-it-.jpg It would be cheaper for groomsmen to purchase as it wouldn't be an entire suit and it still looks pretty formal. Good luck!
  11. Amen to that mrsgreene! Everyone looks beautiful no matter what their size. Good luck on finding shoes to go with your dress!
  12. It can get overwhelming but I see that your wedding date is September of next year! It's great that you're doing all of this now because I've been told that the more you do now, the less stressed you'll be later. I think that's good advice cuz I took that advice and ran with it. Enjoy your planning and good luck with everything! I'm looking forward to seeing all your creative projects coming up. You must post and share!
  13. I guess if people (especially relatives) insist on throwing you one because they really want to do it you should oblige. Fortunately my family isn't privy to that western tradition of bridal shower so they're not going to insist on one; and I don't believe my future mother-in-law will do that either. My friends though asked me if I wanted one and I said no. I'd rather just hang out and have a bit of girl time with my friends. And most of my friends live spread out across the country so traveling is involved in any showers that might take place so it would be a heck of a thing to coordinate let alone have them feel obligated to do in addition to coming to the wedding. So we just decided that we'd try to have a bit of girl-time a few days before the wedding since people will be coming in earlier, and the guys can have some guy-time. Otherwise, my close friends and I will maybe just have a girls' weekend a few weeks before the wedding in some central location if we can work that out, since we try to hang out every so often anyway.
  14. Excellent job!! Those are so creative! I can totally understand not wanting to take out the message!
  15. I know what you mean! I got shoe-envy for a while since I like shoes (don't most of us?)! But then I had to stop myself and think about what goes with my dress as well as what really captures ME in this whole wedding. My ceremony and reception are both on the beach so I had to be practical - heels would just sink in the sand and I didn't want to do wedges. I was going to go barefoot but now my fiance wants to wear flip flops, so I bought myself some really great ones that have some sparkle. I think "formal" looking is relative to what look you want to achieve and what your personality is. Flip flops are certainly not formal enough for a wedding dress, and my dress though not quite as formal as most people's dresses, still screams "WEDDING". But I think what I bought were a perfect-fit for location, dress, and for me. Sooooo.....what I'm saying is that if those fuchsia shoes are what make you really happy, go for it! And like I said, I think they're lovely and perfect for a destination wedding!
  16. How pretty! I like the hair accessory too! Very beachy! Congratulations!
  17. I think there is. I can check it out and get back to you; but it'll take me a few days. Hope that's ok!
  18. I'm planning on doing this as well. I bought the Wedding DJ app ($4.99) and experimented with it. It transitions professionally between songs (fading out smoothly) even if you cut the song short. I'll just be asking one of my nephews to "DJ" as you have to move it along for the procession as it has slots for groom's procession, bridal party, and bride. I'm sure you could probably just make it one giant list instead of filling each one in. Then you could just keep running it. In any event, I'm excited about it because it costs much less than hiring a DJ and I'll be collecting requests for dance music for the reception from my guests so that we'll have songs playing that they will definitely dance to!
  19. Great tats! Love the tree! Looking at yours makes me want to go back and get another one. Btw, the one of the sailor kissing the nurse reminds me of the same statue in downtown Sarasota, Florida. Awesome!
  20. Thanks!! Yes indeed! The hearts, the jewels.... all perfect to wear on the beach on my wedding day!
  21. Thanks! I got them at Marshall's Shoe Store. I love Marshall's! The brand is Jellypop shoes.
  22. I was going to go barefoot as was my fiance. But now he thinks he'd like to wear flip flops because he'll be wearing a suit. Oi.... No problem though. It gave me an excuse to go buy some nice flip flops! I found these and absolutely love them!
