  1. YEAH!!!! Am totally thinking sunshine, and can't wait to hear all about it! Happy almost wedding day! I agree with Murmel....not many upgrades at this resort, as they don't need it to bring us brides and our large groups in...check with your travel agent and see if they are GI...if yes, you may get a few perks. You will likely be upgraded upon arrival. I was upgraded to a swim-up suite, which I loved, but it was much smaller than the regular rooms, so I had to get ready in a bridesmaid's room. I would make sure the upgraded room is just that, an upgrade from what you would have received originally.
  2. lol...I totally don't get it They look fantastic....thats all that matters, and the colors are gorgeous!!!
  3. Michelle, It is your day....make sure you do what will make you happy! I had a little drama too, but in the end, wouldn't have had in any other way! It was amazing to be away with our closest friends and family for 7 days... Good luck to you!
  4. Hey there....I did, for the groomsmen....I loved the way they looked!!!
  5. Light natural beige....it was a tad on the yellow side (vs. gray) and we really liked them. (our pics are in here, not too far down the thread as well)
  6. oh don't I know this fight.......its the worst, but my only advice is just JUMP BACK IN!!!!!!! It is the only way you are going to reach your goal and feel better (the best part is, you'll feel 1000 times better right after your first Zumba class!!!)!!!! Its the worst feeling, "the hole" thats what I call it, when you are unmotivated, and can't seem to get back into the swing of things. Also, the exercise and proper eating go hand in hand, I am sure once you start back exercising, the desserts and buffet cravings will give way to "what? if I eat that ding dong, its the equivalant of 3 Zumba classes!!!!"..... You can do it.....one Zumba Classa and one strength training session at a time!!!!!!
  7. Thank you very much! I think I just got my first order to do this on the side, my travel agent has been showing everyone my work, and a bride is interested....
  8. I used "kiss the girls" - instrumental version (the little mermaid)-this guy made a guitar arrangement that is unreal...its on UTUBE....its awesome, and left everyone saying "where do I know that song from!!!???".....lol
  9. Thanks so much!!!! 8 days!!! yeah! Wishing you all the best, enjoy, and saver every minute!!!!
  10. Ladies....I just thought I would post one before, and some after pics.......the before isn't the greatest, but I wasn't allowing cameras around me for quite some time Our wedding was great (10.24.11), I have been slow to get back to the gym, but I am still running, and have only gained 4 pounds since coming home..... Thanks for all the support, hope you are all staying motivated with the upcoming holidays (U.S. - Thanksgiving, and Christmas).... YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Before: Playing a game....I think you can tell which one I am!!! AFTER: NEVER thought I would get into a bikini ever again!!! AFTER: I got my defined shoulders I was aiming for!!!
  11. [email protected] My dress made it down no problem, I did not have to have it steamed. Mind you, my dress was silk organza, so it doesn't wrinkle easy (and they even folded it in half and put it in the overhead compartment.....wasn't too happy about that) They do offer steaming, but at an additional cost. *Note that they do not steam on Sundays so if you are getting married on a Monday, do it before hand. They leave a pressing bag in your room, so you can leave your garment in the bag and they take it for you to press. I would bring both just in-case, its not too expensive to get both markers, that way you can ensure no smudges! 7 day countdown.....oooooo, the memories! Its going to be great!!!!
  12. I would make sure that once you book, you ASK the WC to send you pics of the wedding locations and the locations to host a private event. If I wasn't on here, I wouldn't have known I had a choice in ceremony location, as she never asked...and I would have been PO'ed if someone else had our time/spot chosen due to this. I just checked out your dress on-line.....BEAUTIFUL!!! Beachy/not-beachy......when I was there, I got to see many weddings, and all us brides were wearing VERY different dresses.....from ball-gowns to more simple....it will look AWESOME on the beach!
  13. First off, congrats on finding the dress!!!! Picture? The location on the resort is technically free, as the dinner is extra. We went with the pick and choose as well, and it is plated service...we liked it! Yes, the DJ and Photographer is extra, even if you are using the resorts "people"...(the info. on their pricing should be on Lomas' site)...but if you want to use Ivan Luckie and DJ Doremixx (I used both for mine), you have to pay the resort's outside vendor fee, which I believe is now $800 per outside vendor. Thats the crappy part of AS...it does not support using outside vendors very well, and have made a list of vendors they don't allow on the resort (your WC from Miami once you have your date booked can give you a more up to date list) and obviously the price of bringing them in....If photos are really important to you, I would look into flying someone in with you. They don'tmake you pay the outside vendor fee if your photographer stays for 3 nights min.
  14. Hey there....I got mine done at VP/Ellesmere as I know the owners of the bridal store, but I didn't think the alterations were cheap...(mind you, my dress needed a lot of altering) It cost me $450!!!!! .....I didn't price shop, so truly have no idea!
  15. GIFTS... Planning thread I forgot to mention the gifts! Here are the gifts we gave out... bridesmaids $200 toward their wedding day attire MAC lipstick MAC makeup bag that doubled as a clutch on the wedding day (new bags from MAC...they are awesome for MOH that works for MAC, I bought her a different clutch... something different for her framed picture with myself and each BM/MOH...the frame had "friends" at the top...they LOVED them!!! passport holder in our wedding colors (from michaels) Groomsmen $200 toward their wedding day attire chris made each groomsmen their own box with a slide out "lid"....inside the box he had straw stuffing, a bottle of their preferred liquor, mix (ie. a small bottle of coke, gingerale etc.), and he bought flip top glass jars that he filled with lime/jalapeno cashews. the guys LOVED them! parents i gave the moms a little goody bag a week before we left for helping so much, included... a thank you card/wooden jewelery (was a big hit), a small piece of canvas art in our wedding colors that read "dream big", a candle in our colors and the passport holder in our wedding colors (different color then the MOH/BM's) Once down in Mexico, we gave the dads cash to go on a golfing excursion of their choice (so glad we did, they weren't going to bother because they thought it was too expensive) the moms a gift certificate to get a massage at the resort (so worth it, they wouldn't stop talking about it!!!), and a framed picture of chris and i with wording all over the frame that pertain to family for each (we had chris' dad, step-dad & mom, my mom+dad)
