  1. Sounds like we will be there around the same time! There is another bride getting married there around the same time too. Maybe we can all get together for drinks and some pictures!
  2. Congrats and Welcome! Moon Palace is great, but YES they have a reputation for being slow on responding. They do so many weddings that I think they just get behind. From what many others have said, once your bog day rolls around, they are on top of things and have everything worked out the way you want it! Don't sweat it. If you start getting REALLY antsy, give them a call. We ended up doing that in the end to make sure they didn't give the slot we wanted away. We got a response pretty immediately, and anytime we had a question we called and got a response by the end of the day typically. While you are waiting, check out all the slide shows of weddings at MP! I have gotten some great ideas, and love seeing the rooms/ceremony/reception/resort locations. http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=421 http://www.delsolphotography.com/vincentguihard/weddings/emily&dom/ http://www.mattadcock.com/weddings/gynnie&jude/ http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=149 http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=55 http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=115 All the ladies on both the Moon Palace 2011 Brides and Moon Palace 2012 Brides are more then willing to help you out with any questions you have. Happy Planning!
  3. YAY! Congrats! This is a great thread with lots of helpful ladies! Make sure you check out the Moon Palace 2011 Brides also! Happy Planning!
  4. I know what you mean! I couldn't stop looking at all the amazing work! Del Sol is a little pricey, but they DO have a sister company that just opened and has photographers that are also phenomenal! They are called La Luna and are a more affordable option! We decided just to go for it because they are the one thing we will have forever (plus how often do you get the chance to look like a model)! I was originally not going to do bridesmaids to keep it simple, but my sisters had a FIT, so I ended up just asking my 3 sisters to be my BMs. My FI has 3 brothers, so it kinda worked out perfectly! Keep looking at pictures, and something will inspire you! That is what this site is GREAT for!
  5. Congrats! I know how you feel! When we first decided on a DW I was SO overwhelmed by how many options there were. We ended up choosing based on cost and what location we liked the best. In the end we decided that Mexico was the most affordable for airline tickets and for all inclusive resorts. Once we decided on Mexico, it was all about the resorts! Check out the Del Sol Wiki, there are thousands of pictures of weddings in the Riviera Maya area at lots of different resorts. This really helped me! Even though the weather is not supposed to be at it's best there, it is still usually beautiful (and cheaper because of low season). Once we had our location, we wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible so they could save/request time off. We decided on Message in a Bottle save the dates. Here are ours: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/69083/my-std-message-in-a-bottle-pics It all comes down to whats important to you and your hubby to be! It is your day and all your friends and family will support you in the end. Good luck and happy planning!

Hello and Congrats!!! You have found the right place to start your planning! All the ladies on here are super sweet and helpful, and there are TONS of resources on here to make your planning easier. If you still haven't chosen a location, you should check out the Del Sol Wiki. It has LOADS of slide shows of weddings all around the Riviera Maya. You can get a good look at resorts and weddings on there. Check out the vendor section too! There are always some awesome specials going on. For instance, there is a sweet deal going on with Le Reve and Del Sol! You can check it out here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion. Hope this all helps! Happy planning!
  8. Congrats! My hubby to be and I are also doing a Catholic ceremony but at the Moon Palace Immaculate Conception Chapel! I also looked at both those places because we knew we were going to do a Catholic wedding, and we ended up picking Moon Palace because of their great deals/packages. It was a hard decision though! Our photographer has a few slide shows of weddings at each resort. Maybe this will help you pick a resort and give you some good ideas! We ended up choosing Rachel with La Luna for our wedding day. I spent DAYS (maybe even weeks!) going through pictures and I just couldn't stop looking at La Luna and Del Sol's pictures. Nothing I saw even came close to their vision and expertise...I just kept going back to them. As much as I wanted Del Sol, price was definitely something we had to consider. If I had unlimited amounts of money, I would have gone with Matt and Sol from Del Sol, but my FI said he just couldn't spend the money for that + a TTD (which I KNEW I had to have). Ultimately it came down to the 3 from La Luna. I LOVED all of them! I had such a hard time choosing one. I actually ended up sending an email to all my close friends and family and taking a poll. As a special treat we are going to do a TTD with Matt! YAY! I can honestly say that so far, working with Melissa (who is the studio manager for both Del Sol and La Luna) has been the most stress free experience I have had to date with planning. She is so sweet and gets back to you within a day or so! She has even given me great tips and suggestions for other local vendors. I know I will get my money's worth with them, and I have not heard ONE single negative thing about them while browsing through all the reviews! I can't wait to actually meet them and have our pictures taken by them...they have a gift for making people look like MODELS!!! Good Luck!!
  11. Sounds like we will be there around the same time!! DRINKS!!
  12. YAY!! We are getting married Feb 14th, 2012 at Moon Palace in Cancun! We are excited, but I also feel very underwhelmed/overwhelmed! I feel kind of stuck and not sure what to even start working on. I guess invites should be next, but I still haven't decided on what to do for them. When do you guys plan on sending yours and asking for the final RSVP? I really want to start working on OOT bags, but I still don't know how many people will be coming. There are certain things that I want to have a more exact count for, like the acrylic tumblers I want to personalize and order... not something I want to have to order again or have too many of. I'm dying to get started though! I feel like I should start doing DIY projects, but I don't know what I even want to do yet or if I could even do it and make it look good! So many things to do!!
  13. Great job! I LOVE everything! Your dress is beautiful. I really love the chair covers for your bridesmaids. Which Etsy seller did those? What a great idea! Congrats! Can't wait to see the pictures when you get back!
  14. Welcome and congrats!! Indian weddings are so incredibly beautiful! And with a backdrop of the beautiful Mexican beaches and water will make it that much more spectacular! I've seen some awesome pictures on here of an Indian wedding. Maybe this will give you some good ideas! Happy planning! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=366&title=112710-Raquel-Jay-IndianCatholic-Wedding-at-Barcelo-Photos-by-Sol-Tamargo
  15. Great job! They are amazing! I wish I knew how to even come up with something so cool! Congrats!!
  16. So COOL!! CONGRATS!! When I read your post the FIRST thing that popped into my head was a really cool slide show I saw of a Catholic/Indian wedding I saw on here! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/67467/del-sol-s-indian-catholic-wedding-pics-at-barcelo It was so unique! What do you and your FI plan on doing for your ceremony? Make sure you look at Del Sol's Wiki http:// http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya . This helped me pick a location and resort. There are thousands of beautiful pictures of weddings and resorts. You guys sound like such a cute couple and I know you will have a beautiful wedding no matter where you end up having it!
  17. Congrats and Welcome!!! You will find lots of information on here that will really help you make a decision. One of the best things that helped me decide on location and resort was the Del Sol Wiki: http:// http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya There is THOUSANDS of pictures to look at from hundreds of resorts. I was able to get a good idea of what I wanted and what was the most important to me...as well as get to see beautiful weddings! Also look at the BDW Vendor section. It is full of cool deals and incentives for BDW members. I know my photographer just teamed up with a beautiful boutique resort on here that I would have JUMPED on if we hadn't already had everything booked. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion The most important thing to remember is it is YOUR day and you and you FI should do exactly what will make you happy. All the most important people in your life will support you and your decision. Good Luck and Happy Planning!!
  18. Welcome! First off, don't worry! We have all been there at some point. The Miami office can be difficult to work with, but from what other brides have said, they really pull through and make it all beautiful on your big day. I find calling them seems to be the best method if you want a fast response. As far as expenses...well that is entirely up to you. You can make it as affordable or as expensive as you want. I personally wouldn't use the resort credit towards a package. They are all so affordable that you could probably do that on your own...especially when they have you do it in installments. Save your credit for either the fun stuff or the extras you want. They seem to have changed what exactly you can use your credit for when it comes to wedding stuff though. If I were you, I would get a travel agent that can deal with all the resort stuff and booking. We found ours through this website. She has been so great and makes sure to get us the best deals. We just opened up a room block. We just figured we would start on the low end (10 rooms) since we don't know for sure how many people there will be. That way you can always ad more but not have to pay for rooms you might not need. Check out both of the Moon Palace forums: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/56044/moon-palace-2011-brides http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/66759/moon-palace-2012-brides Everyone will be very helpful in answering your questions. Be sure to read through the threads as I'm sure most of your questions have already been discussed! Good Luck and Happy Planning!
  19. Congrats! This is the BEST website for planning a DW without a doubt. You will find the most helpful posts on just about anything you could think of as well as amazing ladies with their tips and advice. Do plenty of research and narrow it down by whats most important to you. For us it was cost. Not only for us, but for all of our friends and family. That is how we came to the decision to go to Mexico. Although there is some violence going on right now, it is pretty removed from all the places you would probably want to be. Our photographer has a Wiki on here that has thousands of pictures of weddings at a TON of resorts in the Rivera Maya. It made making a decision a little easier (and sometimes harder since they all look beautiful) and gave me lots of great ideas. You can check them all out here : http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya Happy Planning!!
  20. Congrats LindseyM!! 2012 is where its at!!! You came to the right place! Everyone on here is so helpful! I know I had a hard time getting started and picking our location. There are so many resorts its mind boggling! Make sure you check out the Del Sol Wiki: http:// http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya . There are so many slide shows of weddings in different areas on there! That might help you make your decision a little easier. I spent DAYS looking through them all just because I couldn't get enough! Also you might want to check out the BDW vendor section. There are always some awesome deals for members there. I know my photographer just started an SWEET promo with LeReve! Check it out here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion Happy Planning!
