  1. I think I saw these exact fans somewhere on etsy. Also, you can go to saveoncrafts.com to purchase the submersible lights for the centerpeices as well as the crystals, cylinders and freeze dried petals seen here. I LOVE this planning thread and hope I can create something just as fabulous.
  2. I'll be messaging you since I'm considering having my wedding at the Elegance also I stayed there as a guest last year so if you have any questions about the resort itself i'll be glad to answer also.
  3. Love the idea, I'm also working to get to the 150th post. Meanwhile, I'll just browse the board in search of great ideas like this!
  4. Gorgeous! Where did you order it from and how long was the turnaround time?
  5. Wow! I just went through your entire post and I'm speechless, I wish I was that crafty, after seeing all of this you've definitely inspired me.
  6. I also hope to be a 2013 bride. We plan to wed August 2013 at Majestic Elegance. We visited last year and fell in love with the resort I'm trying my hardest to get to 150 posts so that I can be able to finally see and use the templates that are on here!
  7. If you want to rent out one of the ballrooms for the reception, is it $300 to rent or $300 per hour?
  8. I stayed at Majestic Elegance last year for a week to attend a wedding and I didn't get sick at all. There were two people from our group of about 60 who got sick, but they were up and about the next day. I think one of the ways to avoid getting sick is to avoid drinking the water(although I did brush my teeth with it and didn't get sick), avoid eating fruit that has skin on it( it contains pesticides),and avoid milky drinks like pina coladas(the dairy may not be pasteurized). I loved loved loved the Majestic Elegance and the Majestic Colonial which were right next to each other. It's one of the only two resorts I'm considering. I'm from the Dominican Republic but live in New York, and have been to a few resorts and no other compares to the Majestics
  9. Im actually an early planner as we are planning to have our wedding August 2013. We are hoping to do a site visit early next year as well as a few other resorts, Majestic Elegance, as well as Melia. I'm torn between Paradisus, and Majestic Elegance though
  10. Janet thanks so much as well as everyone else, it's so rare to find genuinely helpful people online! If we have the reception at poolside or the garden we would still be able to bring in a dj as well as dance floor? If so that's great! Has anyone seen poolside or garden reception pics? I'm getting so excited about Paradisus being a possibility after getting some answers from you girls! it's slot easier than emailing them.
  11. Thanks for the info! So basically if you choose to have it at one of the restaurants free of charge that would mean you would have to share it with hotel guests right? It would be more of a dinner and not a full reception because there would be no dancing? I'm super disappointed as I was looking forward to having a full reception with music, a dj, and dancing guess the only way to have that is to pay the extra money to have it privatized?
  12. Sorry about so many questions but if I choose to do the Chill out Chic package do I have to pay extra for the reception location? Does anyone know if there are specific locations you have to choose from for the package? Also, the package states it includes a canopy for the ceremony but I would like to have it at a gazebo, will I be charged extra or will they just substitute? I'm sure I have a zillion other questions but it'd be great if anyone could let me know. Thanks a lot for all of your answers! You guys are so helpful!
  13. Does anyone know what are the reception location options at Paradisus? Do they have private banquet halls to have receptions or are the options only restaurants?
  14. Ive been going back and forth between hotels and im considering ppc. I just have a some questions I hope someone can answer: Do you have to pay an outside photographer fee? If so, how much is it? How privatized are the reception areas included in the packages? also, ive seen a calculator here but what does it exactly do? I've tried opening it but i don't have the required amount of posts to be able to hope someone can help! Thanks in advance
  15. Congratulations! Cannot wait to read a review!
  16. I feel like I'm behind too! I'm hoping to have my wedding at Dreams August 19, 2012 but haven't asked for the date yet because I'm waiting to visit this October to see how the resort is. I had visited when it was originally called Sunscape the Beach and loved it. Hopefully it's only changed for the better. I'm also stressed that October may be too late to get my date Hopefully it's not too late!
  17. This may be a silly question, but would we have to do Pre Cana if we want a Catholic priest to be at the wedding? Or is that only when you're having the ceremony at an actual church?
  18. Thanks for the welcome! I'm planning on having my wedding at Dreams Punta Cana, all we have so far is the date we want which is August 19, 2012. We've booked a trip this October to look at the resort and finalize our decision. That's about all we have so far A friend of mine is getting married at Dreams La Romana this July and according to her the resort is gorgeous. I've been looking into DLR and DPC but decided on DPC because it's a bit bigger and traveling there is easier from New York. Here we can take direct flights to DPC where as DLR will always need connections and will therefore be a little bit more expensive. I'm from the Dominican Repbulic myself and have visited Majestic and Dreams Punta Cana when it was called Sunscape the Beach. Hopefully its as nice as I remember it! If anyone has any questions Dominican related I'd be more than happy to help
  19. They did reverse the decision and the info was posted on the Dreams Punta Cana discussion forum. Also, the daily pass fee for an outside photographer was removed so happy about this decision!!
  20. According to an email that was sent to another bride somewhere on this board under Dreams Punta Cana brides, they've also removed the daily pass fee for an outside photographer! I'm so glad they reversed that crazy rule!
  21. This is awesome! Hopefully they don't go back on the not charging an outside fee rule. This is great as it will save us some money so that we can put it to use somewhere else
  22. Photography Policy Changed Again?! YAY! Hopefully this is true but this was posted on the Discussion forum on Dreams Punta Cana! I will be so happy if this is true! Here's what was posted: We understand there has been some confusion over our wedding photography policy so we wanted to provide some information on the recent change. Similar to many other wedding venues, we recently selected a new preferred vendor for our in-house photographer. Tropical Pictures is a reputable photography company that we trust will capture beautiful images of weddings and other photo sessions at our resort. Although there has been some speculation, this change does not impact a bride and groom’s ability to select an outside vendor for their wedding photography. Both local and foreign photographers are permitted to take photos on our property if hired by a bride and groom or their family. Additionally, there is no charge to bring an outside photographer on our property for the day to take photos of a wedding. We know that photography is an important part of any wedding day and want to be sure each bride and groom feels comfortable with their decision, regardless of who they select as a photography vendor. Our wedding coordinator will be happy to guide you through the process to make sure that you are making the right choice for your wedding day. We hope this information helps our fans and future brides and grooms gain a better understanding of our policy regarding wedding photography
  23. What photographer does Dreams use? Their prices are astronomical for the amount of coverage and pics they are offering! If they want to compete with outside photographers they need to have similar packages and rates! The fact that they don't even provide much info on who they use is also ridiculous.
