  1. Great ideas! I also got buri fans for the guests during the ceremony, and the welcome bags I got for about .55 cents each at Oriental Trading. We're also purchasing little compact mirrors as favors from littlethingsfavors.com. Buri fans sell out from time to time, so if you can't find them on beforetheidos.com, try Oriental Trading. They're about the same price
  2. I'm not getting married at NOW Larimar, but we've decided to book HDC as our photographers. Great prices, and awesome reviews. I believe they're rated #1 on the board. Only thing is, is that since they're an outside photographer, we're being charged a fee of $300.
  3. Do you have any Liberty Travel agencies in your area? They are great at what they do.
  4. I may be biased because I'll be having my wedding there but I really recommend the Majestic Elegance. Great value, one of the newer resorts, and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Also, if some guests can't stay at the Elegance, its sister resort the Colonial is right next door. You can go on facebook and look up the group Majestic Colonial brides and there's tons and tons of pictures and info on both of the resorts.
  5. These lo ok Grest! Never thought to include them in my bags.
  6. Britney these look FANTASTIC!!! I was planning on printing my own table numbers and such with my printer and I chickened out. These look so great I wish I had tried a little harder to do these! Great job girl
  7. Are you asking for hotel room rates? Or for wedding pricing? I say this because I asked my coordinator a similar question but in reference to the reception pricing. I wanted to know if they charged children as adults for the private reception dinner which is $70 per person. Her reply was that kids from ages 1-4 were free, ages 5-12 were half price at $35 and 12 and up were considered adults and would be charged $70. If you're not having a private reception and are asking for hotel pricing, then I think they start charging children after 1 year old. I say this because every where I've tried, they have told me ages 2 and up are charged. Hope this helps (if it makes any sense)
  8. I just got my fans in the mail and boy what a HUGE box they came in! I'm very happy with them, I just wasnt prepare for how big some of them actually are. I actually prefer the smaller ones. So glad I followed your advice and ordered early. One less thing I have to worry about. My next purchase is going to be some preserved roses from Save-on-Crafts.com. I'm planning to use them as decoration for the cake. Ill end up paying $24 for 12 roses
  9. I was just wondering, do we have to pay for the cake? Or is it included in the package? I just realized I never asked my coordinator this.
  10. I asked my wedding coordinator this, and for any type of decoration that we wouldn't want to have our guests do she referred me to the decoration setup pricing they have. I've also heard brides say they had a few touches added at no cost. I guess it depends on how extensive the decorating is. If its a lot, I think they'll charge you per the pricing they have, if its a few things they probably won't. I wanted to have paper lanterns hung in the ballroom, I'm guessing they'll charge me according to the pricing since it would seem to be a little more work than just placing some extra items on the tables. When I think about it though, the pricing is way too high just to place sashes on chairs. Your best be would be to ask the coordinator specifically, "I just want my own sashes placed on the chairs, would there be a cost to do only that?" I've learned you have to be really specific with them when asking them any pricing questions
  11. When I was there I only saw one wedding at a time, maybe I wasn't paying closer attention or maybe they had wedding times spread wide apart to avoid any interference between them? It sucks that she can't have your wedding moved but maybe you'll get some great shots of the sunset if it does go down while you're taking pics. Who did you book for photography?
  12. We booked HDC, their prices are great, and have gotten nothing but great reviews. They're also very quick to respond and can customize packages to what you would like to purchase. The resort does charge a $300 fee for them though.
  13. We just sent ours, which would be about a year ahead. We plan to send the invitations out late October early November so that people can start booking their flights/hotels with enough time.
  14. I'm so glad I ordered mine when I did then. I just checked the site, and the fans don't even come up anymore. I read a few reviews that say the sizes do vary but are they really really noticeable?
  15. Sorry about all of the typos! I'm typing from my iPhone and autocorrect is killing me lol.
  16. Thanks so much for the info! I actually went ahead and ordered 5 dozens last night because you're right. They're always sold out and to see on that sight available is rare lol. I tried looking other places but they were too expensive. I can't wait to see them! Where are you storing them? I'm afraid they'll catch heat or humidity (it's so hot here lately) and they'll start to fold and bend. Where are you storing them?
  17. Also, just so you girls know, if you're having a private reception, and pay per person, kids under 3 are free, and kids from 4-12 are half price $35. I was wondering how they would quote children who obviously wouldn't be eaten an adult plate and that's what my coordinator emailed me
  18. I also forgot to mention that they may have explained it a bit wrong with the non private reception options. You can choose where to have it, but it's up to them to decide the availability of the restaurant and how many people can be there. So if you were to ask for a specific restaurant, they'd first see if its available and if it can accommodate your number of guests. I think this is because certain restaurants are closed on certain days for everyone. Including regular guests. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is after reading my pricing list. If anything, I'd ask for a specific restaurant again, give an approximate guest count and see what they tell you
  19. Hi Evelyn! Good to see another NYC Bride! I'll gladly answer your questions. We were at the hotel for 7 days and only saw one wedding each day as far as I can remember. Never did I see more than one. My friend's wedding there was the only one we saw that day as well. I didn't hear about any price changes either. The new pricing that came up is for 2012-2013 and the prices are pretty much the same. All they did was include the tax, instead of giving a price with 26% tax next to it. Also, they lowered the bridesmaids dress by $10. They're not $45 instead of $55. I did fall in love with this resort and I'll tell you why. First, this resort is on the Caribbean side of the island ( I also happen to be Dominican so it helps to know my country ) since its on the carribean side, the water is calmer, bluer and more carribean looking. The other resorts happen to be on the Atlantic side ( like Dreams Punta Cana) and the water resembles that of Jones Beach if you know what I mean. I also fell in love with this resort because it's more modern, in both the rooms and dining areas compared to the other resorts. Another reason is because it's right next door to its sister resort Majestic Colonial. In case people can't stay in the Elegance, they're right next door and not too far away. Also, their packages are more straightforward with less hidden fees and cheaper than the other ones I looked into. Hope this answers your questions, if you have anymore let me know
  20. I LOVEEE your fans! My fiance actually peeked over my shoulder and said "Wow those look professional!" I hope mine come out just as nice. Where did you buy your fans at? Did you get them at OrientalTrading.com? I haven't bought them waiting on a definite head count, but if a deal like yours comes up, I'd definitly order. I'm so happy you like the compact mirrors! They have other designs for even cheaper, but I really liked the rhinestones on these. I don't have a HobbyLobby around me which sucks but I have a Christmas Tree Shop around and plan to go there for my OOT bags. Where did you get your ribbon for the fans? What type did you pick and how much did you have to buy? Seeing yours has inspired me to start working on them!
  21. Thanks bridetobe23! Congrats to you too! I know you must be super excited, its all I talk about lately lol. Where in NYC are you from? I'm from Queens. I see you're using Liberty Travel, we stopped in to see their rates and are considering using them too. I hope your planning is going smooth as well, any questions let me know. I actually attended a friend's wedding at the Majestic Elegance and have some idea of how things go on there. So happy to see a fellow NYC bride!
  22. I know exactly which bags you are talking about because I work at Old Navy! Do they have a flower petal design in white on them? The welcome bags I bought look like small white gift bags that have Welcome to Our Wedding printed on them with a cream and black flower design on them. I don't mind the colors because they're very neutral and so I thought to just put some purple and lavender gift paper to add my colors to it. I found them on OrientalTrading.com and literally paid $33 dollars shipping included for 70 of them. They're 6.25 per dozen so they literally cost me about 52 cents each! I found a coupon for 3.99 shipping also. You should visit the website and check them out. The item number for them is IN-3/3808. I found my favors at Littlethingsfavors.com. They're little zebra print compact mirrors that come pre packaged in clear boxes with a tag that reads Thank you. I looked all over and compared the prices and while other websites have them for almost 1.99-3.50 each, this website sells them for $1.00 each if you buy more than 18 (which I most likely will) They offer customized tags so you can replace the thank you one for an additional .35 cents each. Ill also look around for an online coupon since they always have and apply it to that. I didn't want to get anything beachy or star fishy because I don't want to over do the whole tropical wedding theme, and thought women are usually the ones who go for the favors. The mirrors will be practical, stylish, and will be used more than once. If I order about 50 of them my total will be $61.00 shipping included. The item number for them is LFC-5941 if you want to take a look at them. I thought of just having the welcome bags as favors but I really wanted them to sit down at the reception and have a little something to take back to their rooms after the party. My goal is to buy everything I need with a coupon, or discounted. So far I was able to use $99 worth of coupons on my save the dates, and wedding invites from weddingpaperdivas.com, I got my table number frames at Marshalls for $5 clearance when originally they were $20 each, I found the welcome bags at the cheapest price online (they're literally about 3.00 EACH on other sites) and I found the favors at the cheapest price as well My next purchase will be the Buri fans that i'll place on the chairs for the guests to fan themselves with. I found them the cheapest at OrientalTrading.com. You can just type in Natural Fans and they'll pop up. Other sites have them for about .99-1.50 each, I found them here for .88 cents! They sell out fast, but they always restock in case you check and they don't pop up. A lot of people also buy the buri fans to double as favors as well. Sorry for such the long post but I'm so excited about my finds!
  23. My coordinator quoted me $300 dollars for having my outside photographer, and $90 per person for an outside DJ. I asked my DJ how many people usually show up and he said 2 people from his crew so I'm expecting to pay $480 in fees to have both of them at my wedding.
