  1. Thanks ChocoTaco7568! I've always loved the emerald and was blown away when I saw it!
  2. From what I've read on the makeup artist, some have said they felt the make up was a little too heavy for their taste, and some have loved it. Its pretty much a bag of mixed reviews. Maybe contacting the coordinator about the eyelashes would help, I haven't personally seen any info on this but it would be great to know.
  3. Welcome Kasey! Congrats on your engagement and your decision on going with Elegance. You won't regret it! I'm in love with this resort. There's a ton of helpful info on here as well as the Majestic Colonial Brides FB page. If you haven't already start thinking of who you'd like as a photographer and dj since these get completely booked months in advance. Happy Planning!
  4. We haven't picked out our wedding bands but here's my engagement ring. He did a great job, I love my ring!
  5. I cannot wait to try on Adorae at my dress appointment next month! Does anyone know if its heavy or not? I don't want the weight to interfere with being in the water during the trash the dress.
  6. I'm hoping on trying on either Arabella which is a fairly new dress in her collection, or Adorae. Every time I see Adorae my hearts skips a beat. All of her dresses are gorgeous.
  7. I think veils look absolutely gorgeous during destination weddings. I'm thinking of wearing a veil when walking down the aisle, then changing to just a white flower on the side for the reception and the trash the dress the next day.
  8. MissBubbles205 is right. As far as I know almost all resorts charge an outside fee for vendors. Like she said CoresFilms does videography and since they're in house they won't charge a fee. Also, if you go with their photographers which I think is Tropical Pictures, there's also no fee. Try looking up their photos so that you can get an idea of their style. I know of other resorts that charge $1000 for outside vendors like Melia Caribe. I think that from all of the resorts out their, Majestic might be one of the ones that charge the least.
  9. I think if you do a semi private reception, it is free up to 60 people. They mean semi private because you get to have a sit down dinner reception in one of their restaurants which they have a section reserved for you. You can't have dancing or music but that can be an option for you. I have heard of La Bazarca boat and I LOVE IT. The only reason why I didn't choose it is because i'm expecting too many guests (80+). There's a lot of great information and tips there.
  10. Hi there! As a native Dominican I can tell you that the place to be right now is Punta Cana. There are resorts in La Romana and Puerto Plata, but these have been around longer so they tend to be smaller and not as modern. There are two sides in Punta Cana. The Atlantic side, and the Caribbean side. Dreams Punta Cana which is popular is on the Atlantic side. I visited twice and the waters tend to be greener with more seaweed, and choppier. I decided to have my wedding at Majestic Elegance since its on the caribbean side, with clearer bluer waters. The resort is made mostly of deep mahogany wood and marble which a lot elegance to it. The prices are great, and they are known for having gorgeous weddings. I may be biased because I'm getting married there, but it truly is a beauty of a resort. The best thing is that its sister resort Majestic Colonial which is a little more family oriented and older is right next door. So if some can't stay at the Elegance, they can just stay at the Colonial. They even share a night club. Well if you have any questions feel free to ask!
  11. That sounds like an awesome idea! Also, how about a unity candle ceremony? That can also be an alternative.
  12. Majestic Elegance also accepts kids just in case you're wondering
  13. Omgoodness! I have visited RK bridal in search of bridesmaids dresses, but not for my own. It's so overwhelming with how many dresses they have. What was your method of shopping and finding it there? Please let me know any tips or advice because I would love to buy it there actually. I heard the prices are usually lower there than any of the other boutiques.
  14. Both of those dresses are absolutely gorgeous! Great choice girls
  15. Hi Bridetobe23! The fabulous fans are actually MissBubbles! She did a great job! Majestic doesn't provide the fans, but they are pretty cheap to buy and decorate yourself. I would suggest you visit Oriental Trading.com or Beforetheidos.com. They usually sell them for about 85 cents each. My friends didn't have an outdoor reception, they chose to have an indoor one in the Ballroom. We've decided to do the Ballroom too because of the AC. I haven't found my dress yet but I have made an appointment next month. I'm SUPER excited! Which gown did you decide to go with? If you're keeping it a top secret then its fine if you don't want to share
  16. Dj mannia raised his prices I think its $900 now. That's what he charged us, it might even be $950 right now. I hope he's worth the money because on top of his fee, we also have to pay a $180 fee to have them on the resort.
  17. My date is August 5th! I made an appointment for next month but I'm so anxious to start trying on dresses I wish I had made it a few weeks earlier lol. For now I've made a list of possible dresses that I want to try on when I do go. I heard I would need 8-10 months for a destination wedding though, hopefully its also not so far in advance that I get dress regret later on if new gowns are released.
  18. Has anyone gone dress shopping yet? I'm marrying August 2013 and just made an appointment to shop for dresses next month. I hope that's not too late for a destination wedding.
