Wow, our wedding dates are close! Plans are going good so far, just got engaged on halloween so its been a whirlwind, waiting for my dress to come in so I can try it on and hopefully still love it! What about your plans? Are you having a lot of people join you or a small group?

ok, so this post is making me nervous, I try to avoid tripadvisor because frankly most people only take time to post negative things but, I feel responsible that my guests will be styaing at the resort I picked, so if it isn't up to par I will be dissapointed. On the same note I stayed at the Riu Palace in Aruba last January, before we went I was looking on trip advisor and they had awful reviews, when we got there the resort was amazing! It actually was the reason we picked the ROR, hope it doesnt dissapoint

Here is my AHR dress, although we really arent having a "reception" it will be more like a party, we are having it at a County Park, but will have the standard alcohol, food, DJ, Cake, along with sports (that I wont be particpating in wiht my dress...I willl be more dressed up then everyone else but, I'm the bride, right.

I'm getting married at ROR in May, can you elaborate on any mishaps in service you had thta would help us plan ahead or what to watch out for, because now I'm getting nervous that I have all these people going to a resort I picked, and to have it unsatisfactory makes me extremely uneasy.

We were not there for a wedding just vacation however we saw three different ones while we were there.  We actually choose to get married at the Riu Ochos Rios because we loved our visit to the Riu Palace so much

I spent a week at Riu Palace in Aruba last January...Actually exactly one year....would highly recomend!

First off Congrats on your engagement! Secondly relax, honestly, I just got engaged on Halloween 2010, we are getting married May 13 2011 so I understand how the time crunch can make things maddening, take it one step at a time, I went by what was most important to me and my FI, resort...photographer...dinner/party reception..invites...flowers..now little things like decorations/welcomebags/favors...Hawaii is amazing you won't need much as far as decorations go be thankful for that! This forum is super helpful with planning process check out the wedding planning journals...lastly I also completely understand the missing best friend thing...I have two best friends one from high school one from college...my friend from college told me she WANTS to get pregnant (not is but wants to) sp she doesnt watn to commit to our wedding, we have spoken since that just nothing about weddings, she asks nothing, so I say nothing, Ironically my BFF from highschool WILL be 7 month pregnant at our wedding adn is so helpful! So I take from these situations, that peoples true colors really show, glad it happened sooner than later I know who to call when I need someone and who not to...anyway hope all goes well with your planning, PM me if you need

I think there are hidden costs with every resort, It is definitely frustaring especially when people say "destination wedding, thats the cheaper way to go" or something on those lines, good luck with all the planning
