Has anyone set up a Honeymoon Registry through Dreams? My fiance and I have lived together for a while now, and a year ago we bought a house. Needless to say, we have pretty much everything we need, but my MOH and FMIL insist that we have to register (they're throwing me a shower later on this year- they also say that people are going to buy us gifts regardless, so it's better to pick out what we want). Of course, there's a few things we could always use, but I don't want people to A) think we're greedy and are requesting gifts on top of them paying for their trip if we register or get us a bunch of household things we don't need if we don't register. Sooo, ideally what we could use the most, of couse, is money towards our trip/wedding. Since you can't ask for cash, lol, the next best thing is the honeymoon registry. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience or feedback on this. Does anyone actually donate? Or have you heard anyone say that its tacky? We would register somewhere else too for few things, so this wouldn't be our guest's only option (if someone didn't want to use the Dreams registry). If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I'd love to hear...

I agree, I've heard Azul Beach is awesome...I looked into it too but decided on DRC for 2 reasons...1) AB was a bit more expensive than DRC, and I really wanted to make it as affordable for our guests as possible. & 2) Exactly what Carbaholic said...we have a bunch of procrastinators in our group too, lol, and I was afraid the resort would be booked. It's a much smaller resort. That's another thing I like about Dreams, it seems that as far as resorts are concerned, its considered mid sized- 486 rooms I believe- so you can still get around comfortably from point a to point b, without needing a shuttle or a pair of running shoes. It's funny that you mention the TA thing...I went to a bridal expo last month and was talking to one of the TAs there...she was REALLY pushing the Azul brand as well. They must getting some mighty fine kickbacks

I know, I remember reading about him too... Fernado something? I'm probably totally wrong, lol. I wonder how expensive he is...one of the nice things is that him and his team come to your room to do your hair/makeup as opposed to going to the spa. Not a big deal at all, but one less thing to worry about. I've read that it can take forever at the spa since they really try to please you, so I would make the appt a little bit earlier just to be safe. A few brides on here have commented that their appts ran late.

I fell in love with this dress too, lol. I first saw it in my Knot magazine (Spring 2011) a few weeks ago and ran to the computer to look up Liz Fields. I'm thinking of ordering it for my bridesmaids too as their gifts, but one of them is pregnant right now. She's due in April, so I'll have to wait a little while to order them (my wedding's in Dec). They say you should order them all together so they're from the same dye lot. Sooo..they better NOT get discontinued, lol. Love the ring, btw!

We're doing a symbolic wedding in Mexico too, and also arriving just 2 days before (getting there Thurs, wedding on Sat). I've heard from too many brides on here that if you get there too early, you spend most of your days stressing before the wedding. I'd rather get married and then chillax the rest of the week : ) (Unless you HAVE to get there early for a legal ceremony, which is a different story... )

Thank you for posting this Lindsay! I'm gonna try not to stress and just let things flow...my wedding isn't until Dec anyway so hopefully they get their ish together by then, lol. I agree 100% about the DJ making/breaking the party- imo, the entertainment is a HUGE part of what people remember from your wedding-I really hope the resort works this out. Did you request Anel through Ana (she's my wc too) or did you contact Adventure Photos directly? She did send me their price list, but I'm not sure what to do from here. Also, did you pay anything up front or do you pay for the packages when you get there? Thanks, I'm a little lost on how the vendors work...

Show us your wedding dress!

Congrats on finding your dream dress! Its gorgeous-I've always liked the Maggie Sottero Reese dress (same t-back style) but a friend already wore that as her reception dress last year (actually, she just got back from St. Lucia for their 1 yr anniversary & loved it). Good luck! Your daughter's adorable btw! -

I LOVE this dress! Congrats on a great find! Quote: Originally Posted by carrierae I got super lucky with my dress last weekend. My fiance and I were browsing websites for the perfect dress. There were a few that I loved, but the ones I did were not right for my Jamaican wedding. I came across a new David Tutera dress....this was the first dress I showed my fiance that he was like "oooh...I like it". I showed my mom, sister, and grandparents....they all loved it as well. I looked up stores online...there was only 1 store that sold David Tutera in the state of South Carolina! When I called, they said they had a few David Tutera dresses, but not the "Molly" dress I requested! They did say they would be able to get a loaner and it would cost $30-40. After speaking with the company, they said it would cost $100 (to rush the loaner) but that would go towards my dress if I chose to purchase it (or any bridal gown in the store). That made me nervous....I tried on a few dresses that looked pretty, but I didn't love anything...or come close. Even my fiance joked that I better walk away with SOME kind of bridal gown from that store after I paid that! I didn't know if I wanted to take such a large gamble flying in my dress and it not working! After debating with my mom and fiance, I decided to go ahead and get the loaner. Luckily, the owner said she pulled some strings and got the model's dress from the runway (so it would fit better)....she warned me not to wear makeup that day! My mom drove 12 hours to see me in my dress. When we got to the store there was almost NO bridal dresses...just a 2-3 racks. It was clear they catered to the prom crowd. I was nervous because if this didn't work, I would have thrown away $100 and probably couldn't find anything else in that store! When I finally tried it on, it fit me perfectly....length and waist. There was absolutely no alternations needed for the dress....and everyone loved it. It seemed like it was made for me! I can't wait to wear it on my wedding!!! -
Honestly!! Can you imagine all the money they make from all our weddings? The least they could do is be accomodating to the people that are bringing them a ton of business! If I had read all this before I booked, I would have seriously considered going with a different resort...ugh...I chose a DW to be less stressed, lol! What about DJ Mannia...do we know if he's on the approved list? Or has anyone used or heard anything about their "approved" in house DJ? -Lily

Thank you for the advice Mocha! I was actually thinking about that as I read through all these threads (just came across it about 2 weeks ago). I'm STRONGLY considering getting a dress made- we're on a tight budget (who isn't, lol) and honestly I'm not really that picky- my main concern is that it looks good/fits right. The dress doesn't have to look identical to the original. I'm going to look at dresses probably next week so I can get an idea of what I like, and take it from there. I haven't tried on any gowns yet, so we'll see! I do know that "what you like" vs "what looks good on you" can be two totally different things! Silly question- where do you go to get measured- do you just make an appointment with a seamstress? Is it expensive?

Hi, I have a question for the girls that have received their dresses. Did you have to pay some sort of a customs fee besides shipping charges? I came accross this on DHGate and was wondering how much of a fee they're talking about. If there is, how/when is it payed? This is what it reads: "Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer`s responsibility. Please check with your country`s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying" It also states that "you would have to pay that to the courier upon receipt of the package(s) from China". I'm assuming the package would be delivered to my door-how would I pay the UPS guy-in cash?! Or would I have to go pick it up at UPS or FedEx? I'm sorry if these are dumb questions, lol- I have no idea how this process works...would someone mind explaining? Thank you!

Catamaran tours
TigerLily replied to Emily11386's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I agree, I've looked at a few companies and they seem to have the best prices/reviews. From what I've seen, most places charge a fee per person, where as Paradise charges a base price based on # of guests/length of tour (its worked out cheaper this way every time I've calculated it) The owner seems really nice and they responded to my questions very quickly too. I really want to do the sunset sailing as a "thank you" to our guests the night after our wedding, but I'll have to see how many people are going and if we can budget it in. Here's their website: http://www.paradisecatamarans.com/ -
I just emailed him for prices. His website is http://www.manniacancun.com.mx/Site/Index.html and I emailed him at [email protected]. Good luck! Does anyone have the email for DJ Mania? Thanks!!
