  1. Liz, You should be able to get quotes from an agent for pricing for January, it just make take them a week or two to get back to you. I booked in January for a December wedding, and I sent out our save the dates in February to coincide with the group travel rate we recieved from our agent. You can make any save the date you want now, then it's ready to go when you get your travel info. We sent out STD magnets and included a 5 X 7 card that provided our guests with how to book, travel dates etc. The rest was up to them and our agent! I think we will be sending wedding invitations sometime in July/August ? That's the next task....
  2. I've had my underarms done too, and its painless! Where I go, they put the gel on (just like cool ultrasound gel) and the laser has a cooling fan on it that blows onto your skin and it doesn't hurt at all! And best part is, it works! I was too scared to have my bikini done, but I should have just done it.
  3. I think that we are forgetting about swimming! The ocean, the pool, walks on the beach...that's some good ideas to keep us moving before the wedding! I'm only there for 2 days before we get married, so I just have to stay away from the bacon, eggs and sausages...breakfast is my favourite!!
  4. Hi, I'm in Ajax, I think there are quite a few of us from the GTA online! I'm still a 'noob', even though I joined in November!
  5. katelynn, I'm glad you found it! I spent about that too, and I think the earrings will look nice and my bridesmaids won't even know the price tag! I am hoping to buy them all a tiffany bracelet for standing up for me. The 4 dollar earrings are just a bonus! Even better is that she is in Ontario and the shipping is cheap too!
  6. And then I found these things too.... bobby pins, 6 for 6 dollars... and these pearl cluster earrings for 6 dollars All from Elegant Chic's Bridal Boutique
  7. David's Bridal....Target..and Marshall's are all popping up around here! I will check out Davids Bridal in a few weeks. One of my BM's is on mat leave, so we can go during the week!
  8. I just ordered these earrings in ivory pearls for my bridesmaids...they came in at a whopping 5 dollars each! You can't beat that! I will let you know how they look!
  9. Steph, thanks for the good news! Now I just have to make sure I have 5 lbs of luggage weight to save for my M&M's!
  10. I still would like to do candy. Does anyone think M&M's will melt in my luggage ?! Or maybe I put them in my carryon and hope we don't get hassled and that for some 'security' reason we can't take them on the plane...then we all will be eating M&M's in the terminal!
  11. The resort wants $350/hour for the steel band. I think they sound fantastic! I've watched a bunch of youtube videos of various bands at some of the other hotels and it just gives you the feeling of Jamaica. It will get pretty expensive if we have them from 3pm (for the ceremony) to 1030 when the restaurant closes...
  12. I just want to thank you all for giving me another addiction....etsy.com! I just registered myself and saved a bunch of things that all of you have found online! It's so very fantastic!!
  13. Don't stress. I've watched my best friends agonize over planning big princess weddings here, and having a destination wedding (so far) is a piece of cake! The coordinators have most of the planning done for you, all you have to do is decide what you want to make it unique. (ie centerpieces, flowers, decor, etc).
  14. Jacki, The site visit is a great idea! I don't think we are going to do that though, we've had some people that I work with that have been to the resort we are getting married at and say its fantastic! I hoping to go with the steel band for the day for our music!! I bet its a great relief to have all of your stuff booked!
  15. Jacki, I'm thinking about sending out my invitations in August. I think that gives everyone who didn't book by our group rate date (feb 15th) time to organize themselves to get time off work, expense etc. Hopefully, we can organize some engagement party over the summer and invite everyone who is coming to the wedding to meet everyone else. (my family lives 3 hours away from the city, so it would be nice for them all to get together before we go) and a bridal shower in september. Most people do an after party, but getting married in December...by the time we get home, it's snowing, we go back to work...we're putting up a christmas tree and then it's new years. I think a summer pre-wedding party is a good idea!
  16. LizK23, So happy you called and got your date! Don't worry, my email crashed when she tried to send me all of the contract and booking stuff too. I'm not going to worry about bridesmaids until about 6 months before. I mean, there are potential pregnancies in my bridal party, and that might leave me with only 2 of 4 girls!
  17. Vaneska, I think I read somewhere in the contract that you have to pay to use their sound system too, I'm sure if you brought your own DJ they'd find a way to make you pay for something!
  18. I will totally check it out for bridesmaids dresses! I've been searching their website for a while, it looks pretty nice for a simple beach wedding!
  19. the long distance fees for the 10 minutes you talk to her, is totally worth your sanity! trust me! you have way more planned than I do! I'm waiting to see how many of my bridesmaids get pregnant between now and then before we go shopping and I pick one of them to be my maid of honour
  20. Call them~! I called when I was booking my day to make sure that it was still available, and she told me they work 9 am to midnight! so even if the assistant answers the phone, at least you get answers and don't have to stress anymore (I'm happy I called~!)
  21. I competely understand where you are coming from. We too are in our early 30's, own our house for 2 years etc, yet people ask where we are registered. I think I'm going to have to register someplace as my aunt is having a shower for us, and my colleagues at work too. (plus an engagement party) I think I will be quite selective with the registry though. I can't stop people from buying us gifts, but I'm not registering for stuff like the kitchen aid 400 dollar stand mixer! (my cousin put a $2000 mattress set on her registry!!) I will go with simple stuff less than $100. (towels in colours I want, sheets)
  22. Princess J, thanks for the decorating tips! I can't wait to see your pictures when you post them!
  23. I like the idea of paying for an excursion for the wedding party, I think that adds a nice touch.
  24. I like the idea of paying for the bridesmaids dresses. I might do that and get them something small to go with it. Has anyone ordered a bridesmaid's dress from lightinthebox.com ? It looks very nice, and ships to your house in 3 weeks, versus ordering from a bridal salon and getting your dresses 6 months from now (and then one of your girls gets pregnant between now and then and it doesn't fit) I'm thinking about it....
