  1. I love the sheer fabric on it, and you are most definately right, the beach is the best decoration we could ask for! But I'm wondering about a few flowers on the top for some colour...?? I've looked at the afloral.com website and they have some cute flowers to put on the top
  2. Is anyone here thinking of bringing realtouch flowers ? or any type of silk flowers ? I was thinking for the huppa only...$450 seems like alot of money on flowers for a 20 minute scene on the beach! I'm guessing they would move those flowers inside the restaurant for decoration later too
  3. Morgan7, I ordered mine in January, and they told me it should arrive sometime in July...and then the alterations after that...which could take 2 months!
  4. daisymable, I think I'm going to get a few make up lessons here before we go. I don't want to look like a clown or a stripper...and, if someone teaches me how to do it right, I can do it more often! So that's and added bonus!
  5. Starrysim, I wash my hands all day too, I'm a nurse, the last thing I need is a wedding band with many diamonds on it to get all covered in soap etc...So I'm going with a plain platinum wedding band too! I learned all about diamonds and cut and clarity after I got my ring! My FI did a lot of research!
  6. Ohaske, Wow! That is a beautiful save the date! I am going to send out invitations in August, including RSVP's because I want to know who is coming and who is not. There are a few people in the family who are undecided, and I don't want any last minute surprise guests popping up. I already know who is booked from our travel agent, but I'm thinking formal invitations with an RSVP enclosure is what we are going to do. It is a wedding afterall, and people would RSVP if we were getting married here.
  7. Starrysim, That's very similar! They both look great!! Mine is 0.9 carats, I think more than 1 carat is too big for me, I'm not all about flashy bling, and being a nurse, all I do is wash my hands all day long! What kind of band are you getting ?? I want a plain platinum band to match.
  8. The bridesmaid dresses are fabulous! Where did you get them ??
  9. Today I found paper lanterns at Dollarama. They are $1.25 each and you need to add 2 AAA batteries, but they look good! I don't know how many I will need for the steakhouse for decorations, any thoughts ??
  10. thank you! I think I will have to get a custom platinum curved band to go with it....
  11. Brenners, The shells were all white with some coral coloured accents. The conch shell was ivory, and it didn't weigh too much, I think it was about 10 dollars, I'm thinking about going back today with one of my bridesmaids and picking up some more stuff. I know its considered 'seasonal', so if we don't buy it now, we'd have to search the web for stuff
  12. I finally figured out how to post my own pics! I kept trying to attach a file like I was sending an email! My best friend got married in February, and after seeing many brides photos on here I thought a picture of the ring with the bouquet was pretty, so we did that while we were getting ready for her wedding! Here's my ring!!
  13. So I searched the 'noob' section to figure out 'insert image' !
  14. I feel like I've been posting forever, and I'm still a noob! Oh well, I just don't want to put "Hi and Welcome' 65 more times to get up to 150 post status!
  15. I went to Pier 1 Imports and bought a white starfish tea light holder, it was 6 dollars! I think I posted it earlier today but since I'm still a 'noob' I can't tell if I attatched it properly. Anyways, I did see some things of interest -- white paper lanterns with lights 3 for $18 (and quite a few other assorted colours), they had a nice bag of potporri with (what looked like) coral pieces and shells, and all kinds of teal tealights and they had a conch shell that has an LED light in it too. I'm thinking I will have to go back and pick up some stuff, since it's all seasonal items, but I'm sure it's all on their website
  16. congrats and welcome! We're getting married in Jamaica in December! I can't wait!
  17. We knew we wanted to get married in Jamaica, then we had to decide on resorts. I didn't want to go over the $1800/per person mark. We debated between the Bahia in Runaway Bay and the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Resort, and eventually booked with Air Canada for $1867 for the week. The bonus of Air Canada was an early booking bonus to pay in full by a certain date was $250, so we paid 1617. Once you pick a destination, then you have to pick the resort! Trip advisor is a great place to look at what other travellers think about the resorts.

    Howdy

Welcome to the forum! You will find alot of great info here and it makes you feel good talking to others who are planning the same thing!
  19. I bought this starfish candle holder at Pier 1 today for $5.95. It's pretty lightweight and would be easy to transport...I bought the teal coloured tealights called ocean, and you can get 30 for $10. What do you think if we put a few on the head table and then just tealights on the other tables ? ( I hope I uploaded this pic right, it's my first post with any type of attatchment!)
  20. I still don't know what kind of favors I'm having, but I want them to be edible! (or maybe we get bottles of appleton at the resort ?) Everyone likes edible favors...at least I do!
  21. congrats on booking the wedding!! Now the fun planning begins!
  22. Kristy, I have been to a wedding at the ROR in 2007 and it was very nice. It was a family wedding or we would have just gone back there to get married ourselves, but we didn't want to get married at the same place as FI's cousin. We chose the Iberostar Beach after reading many reviews on tripadvisor and asking around to anyone we knew who had been there. The suites pricing from Toronto was looking to be about 1800-2000 all inclusive for the week, so we chose the beach resort, which looks just as nice. There's quite a few good reviews on the beach resort too. I agonized about the resort for about 2 months before we made a decision! And I think we made a good one!
  23. I think I will include that we are registered on the shower invitations, but not on the formal wedding invitations.
  24. I too was having the same thoughts about registering someplace, that was until the family decided to plan a big shower for me and my work friends also want to do a bridal shower. I don't want to appear greedy, but I also don't need 5 pairs of oven mitts and a dozen tea towels.I think we're going to register at Bed Bath & Beyond for some reasonably priced items (sheets, towels, baking pans etc) My FI made a good point last week, he told me that people are paying to come to our wedding, but they also are getting a vacation out it, so don't feel guilty about registering. I think he's right, but I'm not registering for big ticket items, even though I totally want the kitchen aid stand mixer!!
