Starrysim This is what Jodi from Taiflora has quoted me. I have been emailing her since June, and so far, I get weekly responses, and I have decided on a few things and I will tell you all my pricing, since I know it will be helpful! Boutonieres = Groomsmen with white orchids (make sure she gives you one free, since its included in the package) $20 Boutonieres = Dad's are single ivory rose $18 each Wrist corsages - with roses and orchids (it looked really big) was $40, so Im going with just the orchids for our moms at $30 each. Bridal bouquet. = ivory roses, orchids and a bit of light blue hydrangea. = $140. my FI saw the price of that and was grilling me! I told him I really wanted it! and it will be in all of the pictures! the bridesmaids equivalent (which they tell me is smaller) is $80 I also noticed 'cake flowers' on my order from them with no fee. She listed it as white and blue orchids. Then we went on to centerpeices. She emailed me a giant list of centerpieces, which were very nice, and the quotes were >$100 each! So I told her that my budget for centerpieces is $60. Thats where she came up with the 3 vases with submerged orchids and 4 votives. There is also a 'signing table' arrangement that they include in the package, I noticed it on my quote as 'free' and it says 'white dendrobium orchids' so Im hoping I can just move that inside to the head table when the ceremony is over. I asked about rose petals for the flower girl and she quoted me $40 for a basketful. There is also 17.5% tax added on! And add 4% if you use a credit card. (that's in the fine print on the bottom of the quote)

Ladies, I still have to get my dress fitted. I'm going to do that next week. The seamstress Im taking it to only needs 4 weeks or so, and I havent tried the dress on since I bought it in January! I bought my bridesmaids gifts, they have their dresses and shoes, and Im getting RSVP's back from people. My first bridal shower is tomorrow afternoon! Im pretty excited about that! I think Im going to do a welcome brochure and hand it out for people to read on the plane, that way they can see the map of the resort, what to do while we are there and make sure they know about the welcome dinner and when to be on the beach and sober for the wedding ! I've emailed Jodi about flowers and she responded to me twice in one day! She actually emailed me an excel spreadsheet of what I have selected so far in terms of flowers. Im going with submerged orchids, in 3 glass cylinders. I told her i didnt want to spend more than $60 dollars and that's what she came back with. One of my friends got married here in Toronto and they quoted her $140 for submerged orchids, so i think thats a good deal since they are local flowers!

Jamaica2012, I sent out STD's in February for our December wedding. Then we had a pre-Jamaica party in July and invited everyone who got a STD. I sent out our formal invitations in the middle of August and I have recieved ~%50 back already! I included the menu choice on my RSVP, after talking with Sylvia, she needs a list of guests 2 weeks before the wedding and their menu selection. There are still a few people who are 'undecided'. If I don't get an RSVP back ( I dated the response for October 15th) and they think they are going to show up, they will end up at the kiddies table in the corner! It is a wedding, and those who haven't booked need to RSVP, I mean, if we were getting married in the city, the 'undecided' ones most definately would have made their minds up by now~!

I think with 70 + guests that everyones photos will be enough. And some of you have the great idea of making a picture montage! That would be perfect!

kat2012, Trust me, you can cut a titanium ring off at an emergency department(I work in one) We have fancy tools with a blade that can cut through everything (safely, of course) to save your finger! You just have to make sure you take it to a good jeweler to get it fixed

starrysim, Im wondering if they dropped the rates and only have 20 or 30 seats to sell at that price. Our quote was$1780 and thats what we booked from Toronto and I saw it on expedia today for $1100. I feel the same way you do. Last year when I was looking to book, they wanted $1800-1900 per person during November/December for the beach resort. I know rates fluctuate, but $700-$800 difference is crazy! My group is already booked, I guess there's nothing I can do about it now.

If anyone is looking for a nice BM gift for $100, I found it! Its only available on line at www.birks.ca, and I ordered one to make sure it looks nice and I got it today. Its a venetian link sterling silver bracelet, and it's very nice and comes in the fancy Birk's box! The Tiffany equivalent is $200 +, and when you have to buy 4, the prices adds up!! It even comes with a little leathery pouch for your jewelry box!

Post your centerpieces here
Marlena replied to bethtamar's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I really like the 'canoe' idea! I bet with stores will have fancy baskets like that coming out soon for Christmas (yes. I said Christmas in September) -
This is my RSVP card. I printed it from the pre cut cardstock I ordered to match my pocketfold invitations. I bought the shell stamp and turquoise ink at Michaels and stamped each and everyone one of them! I 'borrowed' the wording from someone else someplace on my travels through this website or google....I also put small numbers on the back corner of each RSVP and kept a list of who got what number, that way if I don't get any responses, or if people forget to write their own name on the card, I can figure it out. hope this helps!

Kimberli, I've been dealing with Jodi from Tai Flora since June. So far, I have a bridal bouquet and bridesmaids organized, and I just emailed her yesterday about the centerpieces and boutonnieres. I asked about wrist corsages for our moms, and Im still waiting to hear back. It takes about a week to get a response, so it's a good think that I've started early on planning the decor! I don't want to have to bring alot of stuff down there. I'm bringing paper lanterns to hang from the ceilings, and table runners. I don't think there is much else. I'm still debating on the table favours, I don't know what to do, or if we should even bother with them

Morgan, I have been cruising this website for 6 months, trying to come up with things to make our wedding 'unique', and thankfully I found some great ideas that I 'borrowed' from other brides. I knew I wanted pocketfold invites, so I ordered all of the card stock, already cut, with the silver matte including on the invite. I came up with some very simple wording for the invites, I will find it and post it later. I used the talents of my future father in law to do the printing, since he worked for Hewlett Packard, it was perfect! Then I just put a little shell stamp on the RSVP I bought at Michaels to spruce it all up. I found the monogram on cardsandpockets.com, they actually let you design your own!! it was so easy! and I think I got 100 for 20 dollars, but I just wished it was a bit more tropical, but I ordered it in turquoise to match the invites and it seems ok. I also ordered those bands to go around them, but I didnt know how to fasten them (Im a nurse, not a graphic designer!) so I made them so you can slide them off, and stuck everything together with doublesided tape I bought at staples. I spent around $280 for 65 invites, which would have cost me at least $5-$6/invite if I had them ordered. Your's look great! I like the design on them! I was able to include a menu on my RSVP after emailing the coordinator at the resort to confirm our restaurant. I included someplace in the travel card "Please remember that a passport is required for travelling to Jamaica" just in case anyone didn't realize it!

Morgan, i ordered all of my cardstock from cardsandpockets.com and put them together myself. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be! And it saved me alot of money!

WHAT IS YOUR WEDDING FAVOR???
Marlena replied to mishele81's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I have the personalized fans for the ceremony for all of our guests, I've decided against OOT bags since we will be having 70+ people there and I don't know how to get them all down there. I just don't know what to do for the place setting...luggage tags are out (cousin did that 3 years ago, I would like to do something a littlel different) -
I don't know if my FI will go for a TTD session...Im sure I could do it with some of my bridesmaids though!
-
Just in case anyone else is planning on sending pocketfold invitations....you'd better add postage to your budget!! $2.06 to mail to Florida from Toronto and $1.26 to mail in Canada! But, they're done and sent!

I'm mailing my invitations today!!

congrats on booking! You will find so many useful tips and ideas on this website!!

Custom Linen Suits $99!
Marlena replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think ordering these suits is the way to go. I can't seem to find anything for the guys to wear, and now that summer's almost over, all of the stores are selling out of anything that looked like it might have worked -
I too got a response from JodiAnn! Maybe all of our complaints to the wedding coordinator did some good! If anyones interested, I got some quotes on boutonnieres that aren't ridiculous - $18-$22 depending on what you choose. And she quoted me $60 for 3 different sized cylinder vases with submerged orchids and 4 votives. I think I might go with that. I don't want to bring centerpieces down there, we will have enough other stuff to worry about!
