  1. Hey I actually saw a reception located in the Sunset Grill. I wasn't able to look inside but I saw colorful flashing lights through the glass doors and people dressed up. It looked fun!
  2. LeahZ, we tried the seafood salad and spinach souffle as the first course. Spinach souffle seemed slightly bland and since it's a souffle, the consistency is different. Seafood salad was good, sauce was dark but tasty and nicely presented. For entrees we tried the beef and red snapper. Beef is good, medium cooked which should be better for guests overall but not for our tastes. Red snapper was amazing! Tasted like butter. Both were very well presented. Dessert was canneloni and fruit filled chocolate shell. Both were good but the shell seemed like it had more to offer. Hope this helps.
  3. Hey Jennifer, Not sure if your WC told you but Sunset Grill is outside facing the lagoon/hotel zone streets with the Kids' Splashpark/pool right next to it. What time is your wedding? Maria's is inside, ambience seems more formal than the rest of the resort and more intimate. Hope this helps!
  4. Hi lovely ladies! Fiance and I made it to Cancun today! We've only been here for 3 hours, waiting for our room to be ready and decided to check out the 2 resorts. Met Diana at the Wedding center in the Royal. She seems awesome. Our taste testing/site visit is with her tomorrow. Any questions/concerns, let me know by then and I'll try to get an answer for you! So excited. Loving it so far. Ps, anyone know what to tip WC during site visits/the actual wedding? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for all the reviews. I haven't posted any replies but I follow this thread everytime there's a new post! My fiance and I are going for our site visit next weekend. I'll take as much picture as possible with my Canon PowerShot! Unfortunately it looks likes it'll be raining down there! I chose February thinking it's one of the drier months to get married. Oh well. Anything's better than this snow/ice/rain mix we're getting in the NorthEast coast. Anyways, I've been emailing FunEver Photos regarding samples of their work and they've been responsive with my questions and requests. For a sample of their videography, they emailed me this link to check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/encuadrevideodigital And for samples of their pictures, PM me your email and I'll forward you what they emailed me back. Thanks ladies for all your help. I feel like I'm part of a secret group here! Haha. Also, PM me any questions you'd like me to address to the on-site wedding coordinator we're meeting with (Diana, whom I've heard is great! Is there a way I can request NOT to have Flora? She's been getting bad reviews from a couple of brides). My one concern is the menu. Ana, my WC right now is telling me I can only choose ONE menu for all of my guests. Unfortunately with the Royal Catholic Wedding package, the main course has 2 entrees with shellfish and some of my family members have shellfish allergies. And the other entree, the beef, includes mushrooms and my Fiance's mom doesn't like mushrooms. Maybe if I get enough guests I'll opt for a buffet style? I'd really rather not. Oh well. We'll see. Happy planning bride to be's and congrats to the newlyweds!!! You ladies are awesome.
  6. Simba, thanks for the advice. Did you say your day-of wedding coordinator was Diana? We're meeting her next week for our site visit. I hope she's good because there were other wedding coordinators that seem consistently not up to par with their jobs.
  7. Hi Ladies. Congrats! My fiance and I are going there in February for a site visit and taste testing of their menu for the reception. If you have any questions you'd like me to inquire about, let me know. Ps, I have pictures from other people and from the resort's designated photographer, Funever photos if you'd like me to share them with you. Good luck!
  8. Thanks everyone for the reply! My WC told me I can only choose ONE menu item for everyone. And my only other option I see is a buffet, which requires a minimum of 50 people and $40 extra for Real guests not included in my package ($70 for non-real guests). What are you all planning for the reception menu?
  9. Simba, thank YOU for answering my questions! I greatly appreciate all of your help. Another question, what time was your ceremony at the chapel? Your pictures look great and I am afraid that since I am having mine at 4p, the lighting might not be as great since I believe the average sunset in February in Cancun is around 5:30p. Thanks again. I'll definitely check out the aisle runner too!
  10. Natalie, how were you able to align your cover with your boarding pass? And did you use a home printer to print everything?
  11. Daphne, Thanks again for writing such a detailed review. For the menu, my WC tells me I can only choose ONE menu for All of my guests, although this is close to impossible because we all have different tastes. There's the option of the buffet, but it will cost more and I would need at least 50 guests to have the buffet. How were you able to have two menu options? Also, I thought of ordering silk flowers and arrangeing them myself to bring with us. Did the hotel give you a hard time when you met with the florist down the street? $150 sounds like a great deal as opposed to how much GCR us chargng for flowers. And do they decorate for you using the decorations you brought with you? How was the Villa Terrace decorated? When Funever photography sent me their work from GCR, there were pictures of the Villas Terrace with sheer sashes covering the terrace as a roof? Do you mind me asking what time you had your reception? My ceremony will begin at 4p in the chapel and I am afraid my reception may be too dark by the time it begins? I definitely want the same DJ you had especially with their fireworks. Thanks again for your review and sorry for so many questions. lol.
  12. I love the magnet idea! What better way to remind everyone of your special day than on the refrigerator. hahaha. Plus, your magnet idea is the reason why I've decided to do it myself since I haven't seen any STD boarding passes online with magnets. And THANK YOU SO MUCH for sending me your template. I'm going to try and play with it because our colors will be tiffany blue and cranberry red. Happy planning and best wishes!
  13. You're pictures are beautiful! Did you create a program for the Catholic ceremony? And was it difficult to take pictures in the chapel due to the location in the resort? I love the dress and color!
  14. The pictures are beautiful! Thanks for posting them. Is this the rooftop terrace in the afternoon? I reserved the Villas Terrace for a private reception following the Catholic ceremony at 4p. And is anyone making their own centerpieces or does GCR provide generic centerpieces included in the package? And bridesmaids bouquets by GCR seem expensive. Anyone making their own too? Love BDW.com because everyone here is so helpful! I hope I could be of some use too! My fiance and I just booked our site inspection for this February! I'll try and take a lot of pictures. We also plan on having our engagement photos taken by GCR's photography, FunEver photos, the ones who'll be doing our weddings as well. Hope I'm not disappointed.
  15. Mel, how was your site inspection? My Fiance and I are going this February for the site inspection and are book for February 2012. I'll also be having a Catholic Ceremony. Thank you for your help and suggestions.
  16. Congrats Mayra! I'll be getting married there February 2012 and we just booked our site visit for February 2011. Good luck and happy planning!
  17. Really? Why so? I live in NJ and just went to the Liberty Travel across the street from me. The agent I spoke to is named Francine.. thanks for your help! I'll PM you my email.
