We are planning to release sky lanterns at our wedding also. Does anyone know of regulations by country that would not allow these? Haven't looked into it yet, just thinking ahead. I love the idea of making a wish as they're released ( or maybe sending good wishes to the bride and groom). They look so whimsical!

A huge thank you to all who inspired me! I never thought I would create my own Save-the-Dates, but they were SO much fun!! I created the design myself in Microsoft Powerpoint (didn't know there were templates out there at the time ). My design was inspired by a few very creative BDW brides: vlynnw (starfish punch & ticket jacket), anaderoux (the brackets that really make it look like a boarding pass), cessyboston (barcode and a few other details). skp1, It sounds like you already have the outfit put together. Maybe the groom could have a bigger or different boutonniere than the groomsmen? A few other ideas I've seen: 1. As you mentioned, groom wears jacket (I don't love this idea either) 2. Groomsmen wear colored shirt to match bridesmaid dresses 3. I'm having groomsmen wear a coffee colored linen pant with a white linen popover. Groom is wearing white on white (white linen pant with white popover). I've seen this white on white combo in a few pictures and like the look.

Old Navy's linen pants are on sale for $19 right now, originally $34. I bought them for the groom and groomsmen with a 20% off coupon for $15.60/pair. Can't beat that! The quality of these pants is impressive for Old Navy. They look like they're from Banana Republic.

daisymable, I wouldn't say they are the most comfortable pair in my closet, but they're better than I expected for how high they are. I'm getting them mostly for pictures. We're doing a barefoot ceremony on the beach and I'm considering finding a dressy pair of flat sandals as well in case they start hurting during the reception.

First of all, I think you look fabulous in all three dresses. It seems like you are most excited about the third dress, so i would go with that one. Like you said, it's what you wanted, and a simple change of the neckline would make it perfect for you. Let us know which you choose!

Our ceremony is at 4pm, and we are doing pictures before. I was very open to either option. After our photographer explained the "First Glance" photoshoot, I fell in love with the idea. There is something so special about capturing those special moments with just the two of you (and the photog). Plus, you can talk through some of those pre-ceremony jitters.

My FSIL has a fake engagement ring/wedding band that she always wears when she travels. Not a bad idea if you're concerned about it.

Santa just confirmed our wedding date this morning. We will be getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro on March 17, 2012 @ 4pm. We put in our request in November, but the judge was dragging his feet and is just now making his 2012 schedule. My parents went on a site visit last month since they were already in Punta Cana on vacation. They absolutely loved the resort and said that Santa was wonderful. Santa did tell them that the judge may not do Saturdays in 2012 (March 17th is a Saturday next year). In addition, she mentioned he usually won't do a wedding later than 3pm on a Saturday. We were WAY ahead of the game (since we requested this date in November and are still 11 months out), so maybe that had something to do with his leniency on day of week and time. Can't wait to check out everyone's planning threads!

I ditto what Royal Bride said. We also went through this. Mostly from my FI's fam. "Your grandparents won't be able to go, how can you expect ppl to pay that much to see you get married". This is YOUR wedding. It is about the two of you. We almost changed our minds because of all of the negative feedback. In the end, how sad would I be looking back and knowing we didn't do what we truly wanted to. Everyone will have an opinion on how they could better plan your wedding. No matter what, you can't make everyone happy. Remember that this is about you marrying the love of your life. Do what will make you two happy.
