  1. We aren't sure where our reception will be, i like all the options but for different reasons of course! I got the list of extras about a month ago but I haven't heard back yet on any of the specifics I asked for. We are expecting between 25-30 so I guess that may just rule out the terrace. Have you gotten any prices for linens? In the list I have it says that depending on what you want the costs range, but I figure I can decorate over plain tables if they isn't an extra fee for basic white.
  2. I was actually trying to figure the lighting out too. When Luis sent me a list of "extras" I didn't understand why lighting was so expensive. Eadon, can you elaborate on where you are holding your reception as well as what type of lighting you believe to be getting for $500??
  3. I have had the same issue with a bridesmaid backing out after saying yes months prior and wanting to book early to save $$. She told me it was because her and her husband couldn't afford it yet I found out recently that they are planning to either have a baby the same month of my wedding (I'm a little over a year out) or purchase a home. I guess I didn't expect people to be so quick to say yes and then months later back out after. I also agree that if people would be honest in the first place it would be easier to accept. In my case I know my friend so well that I knew when she told me it was because of finances I wasn't getting the whole story.
  4. This is one of my guilty pleasures, too! The cast appears to be the same except it looks like there may be a new girl who happens to be a friend of Alexis, and I also dont remember seeing Lynn. Maybe shes gone for good too, at least as a full time member.
  5. We are paying for the dresses for our bridesmaids and the suits for our groomsmen (we are purchasing suits rather than renting because we will ask our bridal party to wear their wedding clothes to our AHR as well). Aside from that we will pay for the reception an entertainment. We are throwing around the idea of paying for airport transfers as well, but I'm sure we will determine that at a later date depending on flight schedules etc.
  6. Congratulations!! From what I understand Allibe works with Luis so hopefully we are all getting similar information! I believe I got the same "extras" list that you did Dayna, it includes things like fireworks, flowers, etc. Are you and you fiance getting legally married in MX or at home before you go?
  7. So happy to see another May 2012 bride!! It seems soo far away yet so close all at the same time. Samantha & Jeff Hacienda Tres Rios May 13, 2012
  8. Congratulations!!! The photographer that my fiance and I just booked, Photos In Cancun, is listed as a vendor on BDW and has pictures from a recent Indian wedding that he did in the Riviera Maya in case your interested! Happy planning!!!
  9. Congratulations! I can't wait to hear how everything turns out for you!
  10. That does help, thanks! I asked Luis about hiring the specific DJ I was looking at and he told me that the DJ wasn't allowed to work at the hotel but he didn't give me a back story. I would definitely be interested in knowing who you booked as your DJ as well as you florist that gave you lower prices if your willing to share! You can PM me too!! Thanks again!
  11. I will be 24 and my fiance will be 23 when we get married. We will have been together for a little over 7yrs when we get married and I can't agree more with some of the other posts on here....age and maturity are not the same thing!
  12. We are also using Photos In Cancun for our May 2012 wedding and have been very impressed with their quick responses and professionalism. The main photographer and owner, Derek, is Canadian so he speaks great English, which I found to be extremely helpful!!
  13. We just booked our venue for our AHR and hope to keep the total costs around $5500. It will be a formal sit-down dinner reception because in our area sit down meals are less expensive than buffet and we will also have a dance because our DW will be very intimate so the majority of our relatives and friends will attend the AHR. Our AHR will be 3 weeks after our DW, I would have preferred for it to be later but my fiance wanted it shortly after and I will be studying to take the bar exam within a couple weeks of our DW so rather than wait over 3 months to have an AHR, we decided to do it right away. I will be wearing my wedding dress again, I figure if i get more than 1 use out of it I can justify spending a little more! I will be making our invitations and STDs, we are sending STDs for the AHR in order to hopefully avoid some people being upset that they are not invited to the DW. We have hired a professional photographer who is just starting her business and was willing to give us a great deal because we didn't need the "typical" wedding coverage. We have already purchased the decorations for the AHR, which will be similar to a typical wedding reception centerpieces. I plan to show some of the pictures from our DW either on a slide show or framed around the room, I haven't quite figured out the logistics of that yet!
  14. Hi Ladies, I am working on hiring outside vendors and have already booked a photographer but before I book a DJ I was wondering if any of you had any issues booking outside vendors without going directly through Luis?
  15. I also like the second one, it looks like it just "fits" with your e-ring.
  16. kimbos: If you find out the answer to your question about post-dating your certificate let us know! I have been wanting to do a symbolic ceremony as well just to avoid the extra cost, blood test, etc. but then I wasn't sure which date would be "our date"? I also have a friend who had such tried to do a legal ceremony in Costa Rica but it got so complicated when she got home they had to get re-married by the justice of the peace in the U.S. Seems like maybe doing it at home first might just be the way to go.
  17. I purchased a 2nd dress for my TTD session mainly because I intend to wear my actual wedding dress for my AHR but also because I can't imagine ruining it! The dress I did purchase has the same basic shape as my wedding dress so once wet, I can't imagine them looking much different anyway!
  18. Hi Ladies!! I am getting married May 13, 2012 at Hacienda Tres Rios near Playa del Carmen, Mexico!! We are also planning to send out our save the dates close to a year in advance.
  19. Hello Ladies, I found this site a couple months ago when I first became engaged, but now I have my date confirmed!!! My fiance and I will be getting married at HTR on May 13, 2012 and we are very excited!!! I have spoken with Luis a few times and he seems to be helpful even though he is slow to reply. My parents are owners at HTR so if anyone has any advice or experience in contracting with the resort for the ceremony/reception, etc. without including a room block it would be greatly appreciated!!
