  1. Hi Selina, How long has it been since you sent the email? It took a few days before anyone got back to me too, but from what I understand the wedding department is really busy and there are only a few of them working.
  2. Oriental Trading Company also has luggage tage holders, but they come in quanties of 6, great for those who have smaller groups. http://www.orientaltrading.com/design-your-own-luggage-tags-a2-65_65712-12-1.fltr?Ntt=luggage+tag+holder
  3. Yippee, just heard back from the WC, our wedding has been confirmed for April 24, 2012!!
  4. This Canadian girl thanks you for the great website!
  5. I'm getting married there in 2012 and haven't seen much in the terms of wedding pics on here either. I stayed at the resort in 2009 so if I can answer any questions let me know.
  6. I been to Mexico 6 times, all in April (early to mid) and if anything it becomes more humid at night. I don't think you will find it chilly unless you are sunburnt. Depending on your wedding location its hard to say whether or not your guests will find it too hot. If its on the beach there will be a nice breeze to keep them comfortable. If its more inland away from the water you might want to provide fans.
  7. There is a Walmart in Playa, I would think they would carry some in their party section.
  8. Congratulations, I love the Maya Riviera and have stayed at the following: Gran Bahia Principe Coba, Grand Sirenis (getting married there in April 2012), Ocean Turquesa, Grand Xcaret & Grand Sunset Princess. All resorts had their pros and cons but I would NOT stay at the Grand Xcaret again. If you haven't been to the Riviera you should really go, its completely different then Punta Cana. It has been quite a few years since I was in Punta Cana, but I didn't find there was much to do off the resort - not a problem in Mexico. Let me know if you have any questions about the resorts I have been too, I'm more than happy to answer any questions.
  9. I thought I could do it all myself as I have booked my own vacations for years, but then my aunt who is a TA offered and I'm so glad I let her! Allowing her to take care of the group blocks has taken a lot of stress of me, plus TA are professionals and can answer the questions my guests may have.
  10. Just saw these sparklers on this website: http://www.beau-coup.com/nautical_themed_favors.htm
  11. Hello, I just confirmed my room block with Sunquest Vacations. With that particular company once they provide you with a quote it is good for two weeks. My aunt is a travel agent and has been a huge help to me. She managed to get us a great deal to a 5 star resort and since we only had 2 weeks to make the decision we decided to put everyone's deposit on my credit card and then they will pay me by June 15. Our guests have until Dec. 1 to make their final payment. If payment is made by Dec. 1 they are also eligble for a one time price reduction if the group rate goes down. For those who can't make the Dec. 1 payment but want to pay the final amount 45 days prior to departure (April 20, 2012) then they are taking the gamble that the rates may increase and there will be no chance of a price reduction. With our deal we have had enough people say yes that our room will be free, we just pay the taxes ($190 each). I haven't been in contact with the wedding coordinator yet, but so far things have been pretty easy. I think you need to find a TA that you are comfortable working with and let them do all the difficult work to take the stress off you.
  12. Your invites turned out great!! Thanks for all the tips, being a Canadian girl myself I was finding it hard to find the websites I needed to get my supplies but thanks to you I don't need to search any longer!
  13. Both sides are the same and you can use all the facilities on the resort with the exception of the Platinum section. The resort is beautiful, very large so be prepared to do some walking. Overall we had a great trip there this year.
  14. Vancity Bride: I was at the Grand Sunset Princess from April 2 - 9 both sides are the same and both sides have access to all the pools, restaurants & bars. The only thing that is different is which lobby you check into too. The resort is beautiful and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. Although I didn't get to see any of the weddings taking place I saw numerous brides throughout the week.
  15. Suemun Thanks for your review. I am currently planning my wedding at the Grand Sirenis in April 2012. I have received the wedding packages from the WC, but the prices are in pesos. If you don't mind I was wondering if you could share what the presidential pkg cost in USD
  16. I just received some info from the WC at the Grand Sirenis today. The prices are quoted in pesos, but this is what I have: Silver Ceremony $21, 188 pesos Gold Ceremony $35, 150 pesos Platinum Ceremony $56, 557 pesos Presidential Ceremony $61, 347 pesos There is also a Free wedding package if you have 30 double rooms booked for a min of 2 nights.
  17. kileelaine, Don't panic, after you check out of your room you are still a guest of the resort until you actually get on the bus for the airport. You can eat, drink, etc right up to departure time. The Grand Sirenis has a very nice locker room type set up with showers for you to freshen up before leaving. Also the bell boys will take your luggage and keep it locked up until you are ready to go.
  18. Just returned from the Grand Sunset Princess this past Saturday - loved it!! This has been the best trip out of our 6 trips to the Riviera area. If there are any questions I can answer just let me know.
