Thanks so much! I sometimes have dress envy, but too late now... -
Wind Chime Escort "Cards"

Thanks Allie! I think they'd look awesome if they were hung from the chuppa!! There are some other styles on the website depending on what you're interested in and the tops can be customized with your names and wedding date or a saying, etc. I was really impressed with the service and the packaging. Like I said, they made it to Jamaica and back without a scratch. Happy planning!!! -
Just watched the DVD again, this time with my parents and grandparents, and everyone agrees that it's fantastic. I went for the 5 hour package but am now wishing I chose the 7 hour. You absolutely will want more. In fact, my mom asked why we didn't have a videographer the whole time we were there! Not that I even knew that would have been a realistic possibility because of budgeting... So while it did take longer than I expected to get the DVD, it was 100% worth the wait and I am completely happy with my DVD from Roxroy. Now I just wish there was more to see . You are truly in good hands with Roxroy!! I kinda want to go watch it again...

Lol. The guests may have heard them, but we were totally in our own world. Actually, we just got the DVD and you can hear them. It's a nice background sound that added to the romantic feel of the beach wedding. -

Thanks!!! I felt like a million bucks in it. The bouquet was of all white cymbidium orchids. My MOH had an all pink cymbidium bouquet. The best man and groom were coordinated to match us. We kept it simple -

Woops! Must have hit submit a little early. Anyway, from start to finish, and 2 sets of alterations in between, I was 100% happy with my experience at Modern Trousseau. They are a wonderful bunch of women who cater to their brides' every need. Here are the pics: -

Love love loved my Modern Trousseau gown and can not say enough positive things about this company. April in the showroom in NY is an absolute DOLL and Callie, the designer/owner is just incredible. They even altered the flowers on my shoes for free so my toes would "peep" a little more. Just an amazing company that makes a bride feel 100% special!! -

I forgot to mention that the owners, Tom and Phyllis Roberts, were super nice to work with. Very responsive and attentive, things all brides like! You can email Tom at: [email protected]. -
Back when I was planning our wedding I googled our venue, Moon Dance Villas in Negril, Jamaica, and came across a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty where the couple was married under a tree on the beach. They hung framed photos as decor. Using this wedding as inspiration, I decided that I wanted to hang wind chimes from the tree to use as escort cards. The chimes served as decor, the escort "cards" and as one of the favors for our guests. All we had to was put the table number and name on a little paper flag we made and put a personalized sticker with our names and the wedding date on the boxes the chimes shipped in. They made it to/from Jamaica in the original shipping. The website is: http://www.theweddingdept.com/ We were pretty happy with how it all turned out. Here are some photos for anyone looking for chimes as favors:

Show off your shoes....
LaraJo replied to twinkletoes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
They're Stuart Weitzman as are the lace shoes. I ordered them from endless.com after Nordstrom sold out of the ivory in my size. They're really REALLY comfortable- I have a pair in "swamp" which is basically a kakhi color that I wore all summer long. I'm just under the 5 foot mark, so know what you mean about heels being mandatory -

Hey Tori - I got the navy heels from Nordstrom this past summer. I'm a size 4 so heels are pretty hard to come by. Let me try these pics again: Here are the navy heels with my AHR dress. They actually went really well with my MOH's dress - she wore the same to both: -

Not difficult at all because the sand was pretty densely packed. My MOH wore wedges too: We had a hard wood dance floor laid on the sand, so I was able to dance in stilettos. Hey just curious, but does anyone know why certain of my shoe images are coming up and others aren't? At least not on my end... -

Here are some pics of the shoes I wore: wedges for the ceremony and the navy and lace heels for dancing. The close up images of the navy heels from the professional photographer in Jamaica are too large to upload, so here's one where you can kind of see them and one from one of our guests of all 3 pair. -
Got the video on the 15th (2 days after I got the tracking number) and JUST watched it for the first time tonight. It was very good and completely entertaining!! Roxroy captured all of the major moments. The video starts with a shot of the steps leading up to the room where I was getting ready and my dress and then there's some footage of us getting ready. He must have split his time between my villa and my husband's because he got us both. It flows into my husband and his best man (his bro) walking to where the ceremony was held and then segways to my MOH walking down the aisle (we didn't have a wedding party- just MOH and BM). The ceremony starts about 4 minutes in to the video. I would have liked a bit more "getting ready" footage, but he didn't miss anything major in that area that I can think of. He got the entire ceremony, us signing the marriage license, some of the cocktail hour and dinner, all of the speeches (MOH, my dad, husband's mom and bro- other speeches were the night before at the rehearsal). He got the cake cutting, father-daughter dance (didn't do a mom-son dance), my dance with my grandfather and my grandfather singing to me, and our first dance as a couple and a LOT of the dancing during the reception. All in all I'm happy, although there were a couple of things I wish he'd gotten or included like me dancing to a special song with my mom and me at the bar taking a shot with my aunt who never drinks. Nothing major missing. So while it was a long wait, it was worth it. The one thing I'd recommend to future brides is to go with the high definition. I chose the 5 hour package which isn't currently offered in high-def, but I'd ask to see if he could make an accommodation. My husband and I were cracking up while we were watching, so I'm definitely happy with the video and am looking forward to sharing it with family and friends over the holidays. Fingers crossed for those who haven't gotten theirs yet. Hang in there and email Roxroy to let him know your frustrations. He seems to be pretty accommodating- just over worked.

Looks like he came through for me because I have the tracking number and confirmed it with FedEx. Estimated delivery date is 12/15 (tomorrow). I'll follow up once I've had a chance to see it. Hope it was worth the wait.

I received a text from Roxroy today saying that he has my completed video in hand and asking that I confirm my address, which I did. I asked for a FedEx tracking # but have not heard back as of yet. I'll keep updating you girls. Not holding my breath.

We got married in July and do not have the video yet. Pushing 5(!!!) months and I am not happy. I keep getting email promises as well, but no results. Extremely disappointing.

Hey Laura- I got married at Moon Dance Villas this past July and, like you, originally wanted a band for the reception because I wanted everyone to have a true Jamaican experience. However, after talking it over with the coordinator, Oneika, and meeting with one of the owners of Sound Illusion (Paul), decided to go with a DJ for the reception. It was one of the best decisions I made when planning. I don't know if your guests are big dancers or not, but ours were and I so so glad that we chose a DJ for the reception because while the band was excellent in their own right (we used The Front Page Band for the rehearsal as they are the MDV recommended vendor), the music the play is much more limited. They are a true reggae band. They did play "My Girl" at my mom's request which was really nice of them, and we had a fantastic time dancing, but they were not certain of the words etc. I imagine it would have been the same with any other requests not typically in their set list. So if you want variety and really want to get the party going, I say go with a DJ. In choosing a DJ we also considered Kevan Stewart, who I read plenty of great things about. The only concrete reason we didn't go with Kevan is because we were able to personally meet with Paul from Sound Illusion. It may seem like Kerry is pushing you toward a DJ, I know, but if she is like the MDV coordinator, she is probably just looking to make your wedding exactly as you want it. I spoke with our coordinator about the same thing and was told, basically, I should do what I prefer. But I was cautioned that she had seen weddings where brides had used a DJ for the rehearsal and a band for the wedding reception and people ended up having what seemed to be a better time partying at the rehearsal. I just throw that out there because it was what made me change my mind about having a band for the reception. I have sample songs from Front Page and can email them to you if you'd like. You can PM me with your email address. Know that whatever you choose to do, your wedding will be fabulous!

Wedding Venues in Ocho Rios??? Not at Hotel?
LaraJo replied to megsosborn's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Hey Meg- I recently got married on JA and still check the forum pretty regularly. We got married at Moon Dance Villas in Negril, but what put the idea of a destination wedding, as well as a villa wedding, on my mind was a fabulous wedding my husband and I attended a few years back on Ocho Rios at a villa called Frankfort. You can find it on the Sun Villas website. The bride, groom and some family members stayed at that villa and other guests at the neighboring villas within walking distance. The ceremony and reception were both at Frankfort. Ceremony on the small private beach and reception on the lawn with the DJ set up on the patio. Just an idea. Good luck! -
Need Live Music Suggestions! Reggae Bands?
LaraJo replied to mrsrrobinson's topic in Jamaica Wedding Vendors
Hi mrsrrobinson- I got married at Moon Dance Villas this past July and used The Front Page band for our rehearsal dinner. Although they don't have a female lead, which you are looking for, I would highly recommend them. They were fantastic and had everyone up and dancing for the 3 hours they played. The charged $1k. I have some of their demo songs if you're interested. Just PM me your email address Happy planning!! -
I found an amazing vendor on Etsy who custom makes birds to match the bride and groom. We also used her to make birds for our table numbers. Our colors were pink and navy, so the girl birds were pink with blue flowers and the boys were navy with pink bow ties. Sorry I don't have any pics of the boy birds:

Hi Girls- We used Margaret Myrie for our wedding at Moon Dance Villas this past July. The cake was 4 tiers, 3 diffeent flavors: tropical fantasy which is her specialty and is a coconut deliciousness, chocolate with chocolate mousse and vanilla with lemon filling. We went with a simple design and chose to have butter cream icing, not fondant. It came out exactly as I wanted. The cost was about $330. Here are some pics:

We got married this past July at Moon Dance Villas and used Margaret Myrie. Her cake looked just like the picture I emailed her and it tasted great too. We had 3 different flavors incorporated into the different tiers. It cost around $325.
