I am selling my gorgeous Italian lace "Dalton" wedding gown by Modern Trousseau. This dress was only worn once and is in pristine condition. I searched high and low for the perfect dress to wear on our big day and, ladies, this was it! This gown was custom tailored to my standard size petite frame which roughly translate to a Size 2. With alterations, this dress could fit up to a petite medium. I am just under 5' and wore 3 3/4 inch heels, so the hem would work best for someone 5'2" or shorter depending on the type of shoe you will be wearing. The back of the gown has buttons along the zipper. The gown has a sweep train. In shades of Ivory, this dress is classic and timeless. I got married in Jamaica in this gown and loved it. Perfectly light and airy. However, it would also be appropriate for any other venue. This gown has been professionally dry-cleaned and comes in a breathable garment bag. I will also include the silk sash with handmade flower (as seen in pictures) in the purchase price, a $150+ value. Please contact me for more information and for additional pictures as the file sizes were too large to upload.

Wow. That is some serious BS!!! I got married at the MDC sister property, MDV, in July 2011 and used Rashel and her assistant Fiona (for my hair) without incurring any additional charges. I would NOT stand for that if I were you, especially if it was not included in your contract. If it's not in your contract, you aren't legally obligated to aiode by it and I would refuse to pay it. Don't talk to Kim about it- ask to speak with the owner, Randy, and threaten to write a scathing review if they do not capitulate. One of the things I liked about MDV was that unlike other resorts where there were additional fees for vendors, MDV didn't have any and you weren't forced to use their hair/make up people, a specific photographer, etc. How disappointing!!!

Being a MoonDance Villa Bride is a Lonely thing :-(
LaraJo replied to Cherina's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Hi Cherina - I got married at MDV last July and am happy to answer any questions you might have. I also have the general wedding outline which you will get from Onekia, the current MDV coordinator, when your wedding date gets closer. I can send it to you so you have an idea of what Onekia will have to work from and what type of information you'll need to give to her. I also have a load of pics - both professional and from guests if that interests you. If you are having any doubts, please don't!! It will absolutely be unique and authentically Jamaican. As dmob said, people are still talking about our MDV wedding, too!!! It really is a special place, so even if it is lonely on the forum - and I know it sure can be - I say stick it out!!! PM me if there is anything I can help you with! Although I'm not a current bride, I do get notifications and check the BDW website every so often. My slideshow: http://www.sungoldphoto.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/07/lara-lane-at-moon-dance-villas-jamaica/ Some other sites with pictures: http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/gallery/1651 http://www.megphoto.com/blog/index.cfm?postID=359 http://heatherparker.com/blog/2010/01/21/tips-for-hiring-a-destination-wedding-photographer/ -
Hi SoonCB - So sorry not to have responded. Usually I get email notifications from the site letting me know that someone replied to the thread, but I didn't this time for some reason. To answer your questions: Did you have any kids at your wedding? No, sorry, but I'll be of little help there. Did your group stay somewhere else for the rest of your stay in Jamaica? Nope, the guests were at MDV Thursday - Sunday. My husband and I arrived the Wednesday before the guests, but we all left on Sunday. Pics: I have plenty of pics posted on FB if you want to friend me. Otherwise, you can see the professional slideshow (we used Sungold) by looking at this link: http://sungoldphoto.com/slideshows/Lara-Lane/ How much did it cost you for the ceremony and reception? Because we did the all-inclusive option, the ceremony and reception were "free". However, we did have to pay for the stay and the vendors. For example, we had the mento band play for 2-3 hours the first night the guests were with us and that was an "add-on". Same thing for the reggae band we had the night before the wedding and all of the vendors we used on the wedding day: DJ: Sound Illusion Cake: Margaret Myrie Florist: Tai Flora Photographer: Sun Gold Videographer: Roxroy Gough Hair & Make up: Rashel Edwards and her colleague Fiona I can get specific pricing for the vendors if you'd like. Hope this helps!

We used Margaret Myrie for our wedding last July at Moon Dance Villas. There are pics elsewhere on the forum. It tasted FANTASTIC and was so so reasonably priced.

Hi Candy- I got married at MDV in July 2011. If you have any questions or want to see pics other than what I've posted, please feel free to email me: [email protected] You should feel 100% confident in choosing MDV even though it is sight unseen. We are SO happy that we got married at the villas!! I can give you recommendations on vendors, timing of events, etc. Best, Lara

Looking for Reggae band suggestions - please help
LaraJo replied to JamaicaSukie's topic in Jamaica Wedding Vendors
@jamaicasukie- sent you a PM with my email address. I can send you the demo songs if you shot me an email. I also have some pics from the night we had the band (they're not the greatest bc it was so dark out and we were on the beach) if you're interested. -
Jaya - I got married at Moon Dance Villas this past July and used Rashel Edwards as my makeup artist - she is a GENIUS!! We also used her hairstylist, Fiona - also brilliant at what she does. I agree with meeshamillz and think Roxroy of RG Weddings is the best videographer local to Jamaica. We used him and although it did take a bit of waiting to get the video, it was 100% worth it!! He was recommended by our photographer, Sun Gold (the best!).

CVGreene- We used Sun Gold (Paula and Damian, a husband/wife team) for our wedding which was this past July at Moon Dance Villas. I could not recommend them more and just can not say enough positive things about their work and their services. From start to finish (we just finalized our album this week since I took so long choosing the pictures I want to be in it - no fault of Sun Gold's at all), they have been delightful to work with. Aside from their beyond gorgeous work, they respond to emails and calls in a prompt manner and have been able to answer every single question that I've had. I wrote a full review of them and posted it in the Jamaica Forum under "Jamaica Wedding Vendors" but it was taken down because it is supposed to go under the general "Vendor Review" section. Lesson learned. Let me answer some of your specific questions: 1. Was the shoot was fun? YES! It was amazing! I did not plan to have a TTD, but we did an impromptu one the day after the wedding in addition to taking photos at a nature preserve in Negril. Paula and Damian also came back to the resort to take some pictures of our next day brunch. Just fantastic! 2. Did the photographer capture the best moments? YES!!!! They captured EVERYTHING...me looking nervous as the sash to my dress was being tied, looking excited and teary-eyed at the same time as I walked down the aisle, and looking elated as we danced the night away. We took pictures on the beach and in one of the villas. They captured cocktail hour, all of the toasts, dancing, etc. 3. How long did you wait to get your photos? Not long at all! We had a link to our pictures and DVDs of the images within about 2-3 months. The slide show was posted on their website in early November and we got a DVD of the slideshow immediately thereafter. 4. Was the package worth what you paid? For all that we got, I would have paid more Even all these months after the wedding, I am still working with Paula and Damian and they are just going above and beyond. They've done an amazing job with the album layout and tweaked it to exactly my liking. Sun Gold is not just a wedding photographer. It's an experience unto itself!!! So, for any bride considering Sun Gold, I have to say: Just go for it!! I'll post some of my favorite Sun Gold photos separately, but in the meantime... Here's a link to our slideshow: http://www.sungoldphoto.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/07/lara-lane-at-moon-dance-villas-jamaica/ ~Lara PS - If you have any questions that I haven't answered, just PM me.

From start to finish (we are just finalizing our album now since I took so long choosing the pictures I want to be in it - no fault of Sun Gold's at all), they have been fantastic to work with. Aside from their beyond gorgeous work, they respond to emails and calls in a prompt manner and have been able to answer every single question that I've had... from "Hey, since you spend some time in Jamaica, can you tell me a little bit about the florists my resort recommended?" to "Do you know a good videographer?" to "Who chooses the pictures for the slideshow (they do) and who pics them for the album (the couple does)" to "What is a 'flush mount album'?" Sun Gold was there for us. As for some specific questions brides might have: 1. YES!!!! They captured EVERYTHING... including a picture of one of my best girlfriends grabbing her crotch in true Michael Jackson style as one of his songs was playing. They captured me looking nervous as the sash to my dress was being tied, looking excited and teary-eyed at the same time as I walked down the aisle, and looking elated as we danced the night away. In addition to taking shots outside on the beach, they took us into one of the villas and took some shots of us looking tuckered out (even though we weren't). It was unreal!! As a testament to just how perfectly they captured "me" I can tell you that there is one picture that my mom has framed which she just can't get enough of. When I asked her why she like that particular shot so much she said "Because that shot is YOU, Lara. When I look at that picture, I see you as a little girl and I see you now." 3. How long did you wait to get your photos? Not long at all! We had a link to our pictures (they use Pictage, a photo hosting site - images are up for 90 days and you can pay to extend the time if you need it) and DVDs of the images within about 2-3 months. The slide show took a little longer to post on their website, but I'm pretty sure that was a function of me taking some time to choose the song it was set to. I didn't know it was coming, but we got a DVD of the slideshow right after it was on their website. 4. Was the package worth what you paid? For all that we got, I would have paid more Even all these months after the wedding, I am still working with Paula and Damian and they are just going above and beyond. They've done an amazing job with the album layout and tweaked it to exactly my liking. They even made some slight changes to shots I wasn't completely sold on. For example, there is one gorgeous shot of me reaching down to touch one of my shoes right after I put them on. The shot is incredible, but I just didn't like the way the parting in my hair looked. Damian was kind enough to retouch the photo so it wasn't so noticeable. Sun Gold is not just a wedding photographer. It's an experience unto itself!!! I'll post some of my favorite Sun Gold photos separately, but in the meantime... Looking for Reggae band suggestions - please help

We used the Front Page band for our rehearsal dinner. They played reggae and also covered some older songs like "My Girl". I have some of their demos and might have a set list if you're interested. -

Wedding Photographer recommendations - Montego Bay?
LaraJo replied to hackston's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I used Sun Gold for my wedding at Moon Dance Villas in Negril this past July and highly recommend them!! You can check out my slideshow at: http://www.sungoldphoto.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/07/lara-lane-at-moon-dance-villas-jamaica/ Also, if you look at some of my other posts, you'll see photos that aren't in the slideshow. We couldn't be happier with our photos and the level of service they provided before, during and even after the wedding. Just a fantastic experience with Sun Gold and I'm so glad we chose them! -
For all of you waiting for your videos from RG Weddings/Roxroy, I did want to let you know that I received a very sincere email from Roxroy yesterday apologizing for the delay in getting the video to me. After I received the video, I told him how much I liked it and thanked him for the time, energy and effort he put into it. In his email yesterday, he thanked ME for thanking him despite the long wait and said that it was never his intention to cause me or my family any anxiety over the delay. He explained that this past wedding season was one of his busiest and that that doesn't happen often for him, and, also, that he felt badly turning away brides who were desperately seeking a videographer. I think we can all relate to that and believe that we all would certainly prefer a long wait for a video to having no video at all. Roxroy said, and I believe this to be the case after seeing how he interacted with my family and friends at the wedding, how he stayed longer at no extra charge, and how he was polite with me when I was an anxious bride getting ready, that for him its not only about making a living, but about making brides, grooms and their families happy after one of the happiest days of their lives. I felt obligated to let everyone know about Roxroy's email because I'm afraid I was a little harsh in some of my earlier posts . The product is fantastic and I encourage you all to give him a chance and (try to) be patient. ~Lara

It is definitely more than a slideshow of images. It's an actual movie, artfully edited and complete with a "highlights" section. In my video, the opening shots are set to music and then you get to hear us speaking in the room as I was getting ready. We got all of the audio/video of: walking down the aisle, the entire ceremony, footage of the cocktail hour and of us taking pictures on the beach with the photographer, the toasts (maid of honor, my dad and my husband's mom and brother), the cake cutting, all of the important dances, and then when the real partying started. The highlights include some of the same and some different footage than the main video and they are set to a different song. If you book RG Weddings, you will get an email from Roxroy asking you to provide him with some of your favorite songs and he'll use those to make the video. I was originally skeptical because of the wait, but am absolutely happy with the result. My family has now seen both the Jamaica video and the one from our reception on Long Island and everyone agrees that Roxroy did a better job that the NY based videographer. Hope this helps!
