  1. We had 27 people and got the 20 person floor. If you look at my pics above, it is a small floor. We all barely fit on it and for some reason we did not get lights (probably because there was a chance of rain) but they never said anything. I saw the same size floor earlier in the week and they had lights. You will definitely need a bigger floor if you will have that many people. Hope that helps!
  2. We had our reception at Seaside and we liked it better as well. It looked like to me that Oceana didn't have as much beach area and the restaurant is very close. I also liked the mountains in the distance and the view from seaside better. Here are some pics of our wedding.
  3. i watched that ceremony from my room for a bit. it was very different. i loved how the chairs were all in a circle. i was trying to nap so the drums were a bit annoying..it was my breakdown day..lol. do you know where they had their reception? i never saw them that night.
  4. lol..they bring out the cake after your first dance etc. we cut our cake and posed for a few pictures and then it started to sprinkle rain and they took it away! so we didn't have cake but i don't think anyone really noticed since we had dessert with dinner. we found our cake 2 days later after asking fatima many times. it wasn't that good 2 days later..haha..we had cheesecake.
  5. I think there is plenty of light. We saw a wedding the night before ours and they had at least 5 poles of hanging lanterns with at least 4 lanterns on each pole and their dance floor had the techno lights. I thought it was too bright as it was a full moon when we were there and there is lighting from the resort that reflects down on the beach. Fatima told us that we didn't need any extra lighting and for some reason our dance floor didn't have any lights. I don't know why we didn't get any. The only reason I could think of is if there is any chance of rain, they don't risk putting lights and electricity out there. She didn't tell me this though and our dance floor looked like a little stage with nothing. I was the only one that noticed though and once it got dark, we got lucky because there was a fireworks show from another party. It was amazing. I agree that white lights would look better than the colored lighting on the floor. I think it looked a little cheesy. I think maybe 2 lanterns would be nice. More of an intimate setting. Also remember the sun doesn't set until at least 845-9 depending on when your wedding is. I didn't see the lounge chairs so I can't comment on that. One more strange thing..we had an ipod and there was a "dj" that was there to work the ipod. I didn't pay for that but he let me play what I wanted but at some point he did play celebration. That's funny because I hate that song and why he played that I have no idea...
  6. Congrats Sarah! That is so funny about the cake. We cut our cake for pictures and then it started to rain lightly and they took it away and we didn't find it until 2 days later. What is up with that??? We tasted it and it was ok. We had the cheesecake.
  7. We are back and had the time of our lives!! I will post my review soon! I can't even express how beautiful and amazing our wedding was and to share it with friends and family is priceless. All the future brides you have nothing to worry about. I'll answer what I can below: I agree that Las Palmas is too small for a big wedding. We had ours at Seaside beach and we loved it. I think it is better than Oceana and at this time of the year there is more sand over there. Don't worry about grading the sand, we came after Adrian and left right before Beatrix and the sand was fine. Unless there is an actual hurricane you will be fine. I wasn't happy with Fatima - She is very sweet but very new and messed up quite a few things but it all turned out fine anyway. If you are working with her make sure you have everything down and you have to remind/follow up with her constantly. I absolutely loved our photographer - Cristheel. I hope you can see our video below. I think I posted it right. She is the best and well worth it. She stayed for almost the entire reception and took over 750 photos and we didn't even tell her we would upgrade. If I can help any future brides please let me know. http://180611aimeejason.drepvphoto.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/home-11/
  8. We are leaving tomorrow! I am so excited. I want to thank all past and future brides for all your help. This forum has been invaluable!! I will let you know how it goes and will post a review when I return. Take care everyone. Cheers!
  9. I don't know what happened to what I wrote but I got this dress on ebay used but it was in great condition. My wedding is in less than 3 weeks and I wasn't that happy about my dress but I love this one the minute I put it on. No alterations needed. I can't believe I ordered it online but it was meant to be. I am so excited to wear it.
  10. congrats m1984! sounds like you have the right perspective and your day was beautiful. i was very happy with how eleane handled the switch and was looking forward to having her be my wc and i just got an email last night that fatima will now be working with me. oh well, i'm sure everything will be fine. can't wait to see pics of your day. will you post some?
  11. Sarah, They told me they start taking pics at the getting ready stage and stay until the toast and cake cutting. They also said to have an xtra photographer it would be $99 per hour. I'm not sure where the $1,000 comes from. You could hire the xtra photographer to shoot the reception at $99 per hour I would think. They never said anything to me about only having the online slideshow for a year. Hope that helps. Let me know what they say as my wedding is a week after yours!
  12. The person taking over for Esman is his supervisor Eleane Joya - Senor Wedding Coordinator. She is using Esman's email - [email protected] I expressed my concerns to Ivonne Torres, the Sales Manager who originally informed me that Esman was leaving. I asked about under staffing and she assured me that they have plenty of staff which includes Eleane, a junior wedding coordinator and a wedding assistant (minus Esman now). Doesn't seem like a lot of staff for all the weddings that they are having there. I do have to say that Eleane was very prompt and had all the details about my wedding. Hopefully they will hire a replacement for Esman that will stick around for awhile. I'll let you know how it turns out. My wedding is coming up fast. June 18th. So excited!!!
  13. I just received an email today saying Esman is moving on. Wow, I can't believe all the turnover but I can't say I am surprised. I was assured that everything will be taken care of. I am so glad I got my contract and wasn't looking forward to working with Esman anyway considering how unaccommodating he was in the planning stages. They really do need to hire more WC's. Maybe they will give us brides a free bouquet now..hahaha I'd love to see the bouquet that Esman said costs $300. also!
  14. Welcome Barbie and congrats! This thread has been so helpful. Quote: Originally Posted by BarbieBrideU Hi everyone! I'm a Dreams PV February 2012 bride! I finally got through this whole thread I'm so excited, thanks for sharing everyone!
  15. Thanks KarenM. I love your flowers. My date is June 18th. I hope it doesn't rain but if it gets moved somewhere else that is fine. I'm not sure what I will do with bonfire. My wedding is on Saturday and I think they do a fiesta night on Friday so maybe we might just all meet there instead of bonfire. It would be nice to save $300.
  16. Your bouquet is beautiful! Very mexico! You got that off his facebook page? where? My girls are wearing different shades of blue and I think those flowers would look great. I also like the gerbera daisies bouquets. I'm leaning towards something like that with smaller ones for my bridesmaids. I'll let you know what I decide. I just got my contract. Yay! Everything I asked for I got including my 3 dinner options. I had to get permission from the food and beverage manager but he said no problem. I'm so relieved. Now I can eat my poblano chili..hahaha One strange thing..Esman said he doesn't recommend a bonfire because it's June and it will be hot and possibly rainy. I confirmed the bonfire a few times and he never said anything about this until my contract. I really want to have my bonfire or just a small fire. It's what I planned to do as a welcome for my guests. Now I don't know what to do.
