good thread, good info. seriously, mods, you guys do an amazing job of keeping this place supportive and drama-free. i have never found a website where flaming and rediculousness isn't running rampant, and it is so refreshing. i used to be a mod on a car-enthusiast website, and you take a lot of abuse for doing your job. i was so hated by so many people who had never met me, it was insane. anyway, thanks for keeping this place going! i think a lot of us would be pretty lost in planning without it!

they loved them!! all three girls called me yesterday when they got them (they're scattered all over) and yelled "I DOOOOOO!" LOL they're too much.

cool idea about the pics. my good friend (not a BM) will be 31 on our wedding day. i talked to her early in the process about how she felt about that and she's cool with it (she's kind of a high strung person and I wanted her to feel included and heard). I hope we can take some time that night to sing to her and celebrate. since we're doing a lunch wedding & reception, maybe we can do singing and cake for her at dinner back on the ship.

Instead of Christmas cards, we sent our STDs this year. We're pretty early with these, but we really want to give people plenty of notice to save and plan. At the recommendation of another cruise bride, I got these from www.agiftfulheart.com. They have some really cute designs, and they were great to work with and fast with design and shipping. The magnets are about 3"x3" and nice quality. The attachment cards are shimmery and really pretty, nicer than I even expected. We got the return address labels free from VistaPrint. I love these, and I'm really glad they turned out okay!

i only have one that would show if i end up with a sweetheart or v-neck dress, but i do plan on covering it up. i'd love to know about make-up. there are too many choices out there and i'm not sure which ones will actually work!

I love St. Thomas! I was there a few years ago on a cruise and fell in love with it! I used seller SDezigns for the cards, and she has a bunch of different designs and can customize all the wording, colors, fonts. Also, you can do a search for "will you be my bridesmaid" there are some really cool ideas! happy hunting :-)

Finding this out the hard way myself. Well not finding out, but having it confirmed. MrsDow, I'm so sorry this is happening in your family. You and your FI shouldn't have to feel bad for the way you chose to do your wedding. My troubles are with "friends" not family, which makes it a little easier to have it roll off my back. Sometimes.

I just sent my three bridesmaids their cards and little gift to ask them to stand up at my wedding. I got the cards from Etsy seller SDezigns (I think I saw someone on here who had these same cards), and she was really easy to work with and quick. She also offered some discounts on future orders. I got the necklaces from Overstock Silver for $20/ea, printed up a little card with the meaning of the starfish, and voila! :-)

I just ordered this from seller YourCharmedWedding to pin to my bouquet. The charm is really tiny (less than 1" on both sides). The seller was great and it was very quick, especially considering she worked on it over Thanksgiving also. My dad passed away a few years ago, so it's really important to me to have him with me in different ways on the wedding day. Both pictures are from family weddings that he attended and read or sang for the bride and groom.

i meant to add, the cruise also goes to Half Moon Cay, San Juan and Grand Turk.

we're on Carnival, leaving Miami on March 31, 2012. We'll get married in St. Thomas at Lime Tree Beach on April 3! We also ended up going with an on-island coordinator instead of going through the cruise line wedding department. So excited :-)

thanks everyone! we've decided to go with a cruise wedding. we're still getting married in St. Thomas, but at Lime Tree Beach instead of at the Marriott. The Marriott is such a gorgeous location and I knew a girl who was married there a few years ago and had a great experience, but my FI really had his heart set on a cruise wedding, and I know it'll be an awesome time!

we are booked with Carnival! so excited to move forward with planning! STD magnets are on their way

There are a couple highly-recommended coordinators in St. Thomas. My top three were Island Bliss Weddings (Janelle), Weddings the Island Way (Angela), and Perfect Weddings of St. Thomas (Leslie). We are going with Janelle and she has been great so far (I have like 3million questions for her and she's very patient with me). They all have great reviews here and other sites. I don't know if the Ritz allows outside vendors or whatnot, but these three ladies all responded to my original quote within one day and had a lot of info to help narrow down my ideas. Needless to say the original plan has now evolved into something completely different!

Best 30 bucks I've spent on the wedding so far!!
