  1. Maybe shop around other vendors? Ones who will do discounts for higher volume - Allurements by Rebecca for example has different pricing for more than 100 invitations. We also have to do 100+ invites (boarding passes) so I feel your pain!!
  2. I would like a new digital camera too to make them really great, but the one I have is fine for now. I asked FI for a camera as a wedding present LOL I should probably make sure the resolution setting is as high as possible before shooting, right?
  3. i think we might try this. we were going to just get some easy pics done by a portrait studio instead of a "on-location" photographer, but this looks like it would be a lot of fun! thanks for the inspiration! time to start shopping for a cheapie tripod :-)
  4. love the jumping one! you both look adorable and like you're having the time of your lives!
  5. Me too, I would totally wear that dress if I were doing a winter church wedding. I don't think lace sleeves will work in the Caribbean in spring, unfortunately!
  6. Adorable! What must your postman have been thinking as he delivered a box of chickens to your door?! LOL Our backyard barely fits our table and grill - too small for even little chickens. What's your set-up for housing? I suppose you don't really have to worry about winter housing in California, huh? The poor things would freeze here in the winter!
  7. First of all, I've seen your wedding on Janelle's blog and here on BDW, and wow! It was a beautiful wedding! The whole situation sucks, and I'm sorry you guys have to deal with this. Maybe they bought your gift super early, before it was discontinued? I'm an eternal optimist. Can I ask what it was? LOL
  8. good good! :-) we're all just doing out best here under so much pressure and judgment from everyone around us! crazy stuff trying to keep up with it all...
  9. I didn't mean to imply that you were rude Heidi!! So sorry :-( I just meant to make your plans and intentions for the event clear to your guests so that noone is blindsided. That happened to me at an AHR a few years ago when I was super broke in college and it was humiliating for all involved. We can't afford a full reception after so we're just doing a BBQ at our house.
  10. I wonder about this also. I'm making my brooch bouquet... We might end up driving to Miami with all the stuff we'll be bringing down and then flying back, but it would be nice to know if I'll have a problem coming home!
  11. In all honestly, I don't think its appropriate to invite people to a party and ask them to pay for their dinner, but I don't think favors are required either. I think you should frame it as a cocktail/appetizer reception, and just leave off mention of dinner, since dinner isn't included. Just my two cents! Good luck with planning!
  12. That's exactly what we're doing Llia! I think its fine, as long as everyone has a way to contact you in case they don't have Internet like older relatives maybe. But phone would work in that situation!
  13. Awesome! I'll take them. PMing you :-) thanks!!
  14. oh and how much for shipping to 60516? Thanks!
  15. hey Brandy, how many of each design do you have? I'm really interested! Thanks :-)
  16. We had to do the first week of April because my best friend is a teacher and that will be her Spring Break. The cruise rate was a bit higher than other weeks (by about $100pp) and I expect flights to be a bit expensive also unfortunately, we'll see when the rates come out next month!
  17. It's his for work, and currently getting 35 mpg! So much better than the truck's 16. Ugh we definitely made the right choice. He would have filled up twice this week and hasn't had to since we got it! Plannings going well, we have so much time left, so I'm just buying stuff when I see sales or have coupons. I am crazy and basically have everything designed for invites, pretrip packet, oot stuff, etc. But just waiting to start printing. I've been collecting brooches for my brooch bouquet also which is slow going. I will miss it when it's over, but I can see how you'd be glad to be done too! So much to think about! I looked at your planning thread- loved your flowers and the pink on your dress! Too cute!
  18. come over here and hang out with us in our hijacked thread :-) http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/69390/april-2012-bride
  19. Hi Heather, we're using Janelle from Island Bliss Weddings also, and so far, she's been wonderful! She actually got married at Oceana, from what I understand. Once you book with her and give her some direction about your wants, she'll give you a ton of reception locations and pros/cons for each. We're using Paradise Pictures, I love his style. Maybe Janelle can give you better pricing for Elisha (unless you're paying for her travel expenses since she's not local to St. Thomas). I only booked 3 hours with Paradise, it was $1400 ($600/first hour, $400/each additional hour). Check with Janelle, she might be able to help you out!
  20. Yeah it'll be cool. Basically gives an auto trans the ability to downshift and wail on it. But the cost... I swear every time I stomp the gas pedal I hear "cha-ching" :-( We got rid of the f150 this week! Fuel pump went out last week and we knew it was time. There's a brand new HHR in the driveway now! Were calling her Helga lol
  21. Etiquette is completely based on opinion, unfortunately! Also dependent on location, culture, socio-economic status, etc. We could drive ourselves insane trying to make everyone happy!! This is what I'm going to tell people LOL I"ll put it on the invitations, actually!!
  22. have you been on the Knot? they call everything tacky and then e-bully you into submission. Stay off that site!! LOL Come here instead! An AHR is not tacky. Neither is wearing your gown to said AHR. its a celebration of a wedding/marriage, wouldn't wedding clothes be appropriate? That said, there will always be someone that finds something about your wedding "tacky." People judge weddings like they change underwear. Don't worry about it, just enjoy your new husband and celebrating with the people who care about you! Hopefully the judgy, tacky-labelers will just stay home!! (I'm slightly opinionated today, apparently! )
