  1. I believe we decided on a destination wedding in October and booked the resort/date early November. Went extremely slow until about April. Now I can't even believe it's May!!! It's going to be here before I know it! My shower was this past weekend, so let the countdown start!!
  2. That's good, but also know this is the perfect place to vent as well!! LOL I've definitely needed to a couple of times! LOL The brides on here definitely help to calm nerves!
  3. BTW merrylee, your invitations look great! So creative!! I can't wait to see the finished product!!!!
  4. 2 weeks!!! How exciting!!! I was trying to get everything done last week, but failed. LOL Start delegating!
  5. I bought this dress at David's Bridal for my AHR, but fell in love with a different dress. Never worn! Hoping someone else can wear it for their TTD or AHR. I originally bought it with a sash and it just made the dress even better! I'm keeping the sash, but wanted to give you the idea as well. Can be worn strapless or with straps (I was planning strapless). Retails for $79 (before tax). Looking to sell for $70 (includes shipping). Here's the website info: Comfortable, flattering and versatile, this dress is a must-have for your wardrobe. Spaghetti strap bodice features bow detail to give this dress an extra twist Side pockets and stretch satin fabric make this chic style super comfortable Imported polyester. Fully lined. Back zip. Dry clean only.
  6. I believe the $20 that Nekeisha gave you was for the additional cost for the ceremony (only 8 guests are included in ceremony cost). If you have your reception at the Blue Lagoon, which might be your only option due to the size of your wedding, there is plenty of space for dancing. It's $45/pp for a reception there (on top of the $20/pp for the ceremony).
  7. Take a deep breathe and relax. I know it gets frustrating when you just have a simple question to be answered and it takes a while to get the response. Just try to remember the reason you're having a DW... a lot less stressful!!! Honestly, there isn't much you need to do until you actually get down there and meet with the WC a couple days before. They do this day in and day out with hundreds of brides to "deal" with! No Worries Mon! Besides, that's what this forum is for... ask away!!! Odds are there are many brides on this forum who can answer your questions! If you need a WC/vendor that responds right away, then perhaps change resorts/vendors or even the island! But trust me, your wedding will be perfect even though it takes 3-7 days to get a response. Relax, you're getting married in paradise to the man of your dreams!!!!!
  8. I'm curious on what you mean by hard time? Are you referring to the time it takes to receive a response on emails? Remember, island time! Responses get quicker the closer you are to your wedding date, so just be patient! There's a reason you chose to have a DW, less stress! No worries!!!
  9. 1 year for you, a month and a half for me! Also, CONGRATS to SeeFlower and QueenDiva who were married over the weekend!!! YEA!!!!!!
  10. Forgot to answer other questions... LOL Planning is going great! I finished a lot of items last week, so not much left to do! My shower was yesterday and it was perfect!!! So much fun!! I'm definitely excited! I don't know how you guys can wait over a year to get married!! LOL
  11. Hi Jessica! I'm sorry you're having family issues regarding the wedding. Hopefully everything settles down with no worries left! Thanks for sending over the information! We picked the menu from Xaymaica. We figured that we're in Jamaica, so the Xaymaica food has to be good, right? LOL
  12. I'm getting married at the GP Palladium and I ended up purchasing Real Touch Orchids to use. For $60, I have 4 boutinerres, 4 corsages, and 2 branches for my bridesmaids. They seriously look so real and turned out perfect! Only took me and my FMIL less than a hour to make them all. Great deal since the florist was going to charge $20/boutinerre and $80+ for bridesmaid bouquets/stems. I'm also bringing down my own Sand Ceremony vases. Resort was going to charge $50, got my own personalized set for $25. Otherwise I'm sticking with the resort decorations and will be paying $50 for the centerpieces (Waves of Love package as well).
  13. We did end up going with JCP. We purchased the pants for $20/ea and the jacket for $60. Cheaper than studiosuits.com and quality is a lot better! Plus, alterations are only $6!! Can't beat that!
  14. I just googled the difference... LOL Notarized is to verify a signature. Certified is an actual copy. Send her the certified since there's no signature. There's been plenty of brides in Michigan that got married in Jamaica, I'm sure she is just misusing the word...
  15. Looks like we will be there the same time. I'm getting married the day after you on Friday, the 17th. Where and when on the 16th are you getting married? I plan on sending her the docs this week. First I will scan and email them to her. If it's not accepted, I have a notary in my office and will have her notarize it and then send it to her again. I thought certified was the same as notarized. We shall see! LOL
  16. Another thing to note on pre-set, we ordered them a size larger than what they normally wear... waist were fine, but legs way tight! You would think since we ordered a size larger the whole pants in general would be big, NOPE!
  17. Be careful on the pre-set sizes as well! That's what we ordered and the legs were too tight as well. Even our chicken legged guys were too tight. My advice, order from JCPenney!
  18. Did you fax or email her the certified copy signed by the state registrar? That was still rejected? I'm really interested in finding out what she ends up accepting. I'm from Michigan as well and will need to be sending the docs to her shortly. BTW, when is your wedding date?
  19. I am getting my makeup done at the resort, along with hair, and will definitely post pics and write a review when I get back.
  20. I haven't seen the best reviews for the resort's photographer. If pictures are important to you, then spend the extra money and have an outside vendor capture your moment. If pics are not that important might as well go with the resorts photog...
  21. I puchased mine from specialistid.com. Great variety and very inexpensive! Highly recommend!
