  1. The resort is unbelievable!  All the rooms are super nice no matter which you book!  Our room here was a lot better than our honeymoon resort! LOL  Love resorts that are new builds!  It definitely shows!  The pool is amazing!!  Everything is absolutely beautiful!  No regrets!   Our guests were so happy we booked at GP!

  2. There were about 5 other weddings during my stay at GP (only bride on my day though!) and no1 else had a private reception like we did.  All the a la cartes are very nice and will make for a nice dinner reception for a small group.  Some have tables in a secluded area that might work out better.  FYI the Italian and Indian restaurant are on the sides of Blue Lagoon, so no A/C.  The rest are on the 2nd floor and are air conditioned.  Poseidon is also open-aired, so no A/C.  It's secluded from the resort and would be romantic.  Hope this helps!

  3. We didn't have to pay the $300 vendor fee for the photographer because they booked a room for themselves at the resort at their own cost!  Can't beat that!

For the makeup/hair artist... they were able to get access to the resort with an event pass of $70, but since they didn't stay for the wedding... it covered the cost of 2 of my guests for the ceremony/reception.  Saving us $$$$!  Same thing with our videographer, he was able to come in with an event pass as well, no vendor fee!  Wooohooo!

Thanks for all your help... As my time draws near I may bother you a time or two more ;)

  4. Thanks!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! 1. We had RS and AG from WPAJ (Sun Gold Photo associates) as our photographers. We are still waiting on the pictures, but we had a fantastic time with them! They had us do some crazy shots, can't wait to see them! 2. We had our hair and makeup down by Rashel Edwards and her hair stylist (outside vendor). Definitely recommend using them both! Was cheaper than the resort as well! Anymore questions just let me know.

BeachBridein11:  Congrats on your recent nuptuals!  I am getting married there January 7th!  I have a couple questions for you.  1. What photographer did you use, and how did you like them? 2. Did you get your hair and make up done at the spa? How did that go?

  5. Thanks!! The wedding was absolutely everything I dreamed of!! Trip advisor... I already addressed this on another thread you posted this question on. Stop reading trip advisor! AC worked better in some rooms, but was not an issue for us or our 42 guests. I LOVED that our resort was so secluded. The resort is HUGE, prepare to walk! Lots of our guests went on excursions, plenty of options and very easy to setup. No worries!

    Hi BeachBridein11,

Congratulations on your recent wedding!  I'm also about to get married and was thinking about booking the Grand Palladium Jamaica side, but on trip advisor I noticed an awful lot of complaints about the air conditioning in the rooms was not functioning.  Did you encounter any of these issues with your guests at all?

Also, did you find the location of the resort a little secluded to do excursions around Jamaica?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. I'm not canadiangirl, but I just got married there and know much... First off, stop visiting trip advisor! Worst site ever! Someone post a 1 on their trip because they never had a wash cloth! Ridiculous! In regards to AC, some of our guest had colder rooms than others, but wasnt an issue at all. Don't worry! You can have guest stay at other resorts and come to the wedding and reception. An event pass is $70. In regards to ceremony locations, the gazebo is completely private. We got married on the beach and had no issues with other guest. The beach used for weddings isn't at the main beach, so hardly anyone is there anyway. There you go...

    Hey Canadiangirl,

I see you've done a ton of research for your wedding!  good to know that there is someone like you to help other brides!  I'm also getting married and was planning to book the Grand Palladium but on the Jamaica side for April 27-May4th, 2012 week. I got really scared when I started reading some of the recent reviews on tripadvisor in regards to the poor airconditioning in the rooms and that would be bad for my guests.

In terms of pictures of Poseidan, I did manage to find one, see the link below:

I think blue lagoon is the way to go as well.  I too didn't think it was an option to have other guests of the hotel in on the wedding reception so that means I had to strike out Iberostar cause in that hotel you need a minimum of 40 guests before you can book a private reception.

By the way, do you know if the wedding ceremonies are quite private or are there usually other hotel guests looking on?

    thanks a bunch!

  7. There are 3 buffets: Negril, Mo'Bay and Blue Lagoon.  Blue Lagoon is only breakfast and lunch.  The other two depends on the occupancy level of the resort but will do breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  A la cartes are open only for dinner.  Not sure if you can do a reception during lunch...

What is the name of the buffet restaurant? We are getting married at 12pm and want to do lunch instead of dinner.  Do you know if the restaurants are all open for lunch?

  8. Who did you book your travel through?  From the airport we went through Jamaica Tours Ltd. for shuttles (transfers were included in our package).  I believe we were on a Juta Tour bus for our return (from our honeymoon resort).  No complaints from either.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  9. Honestly, no reason to stress!!  I just had a perfect wedding there and there really isn't anything you need to do prior besides booking your date, location, reception and entertainment.  About a 1-2 months prior to your wedding, you will fill out 3 forms (menu, flowers, music) and that's all you really need.  They go over everything once you get there and ask you what you want again, so no really pre-planning with them at all.  Just know what you want when you go down.  Seriously, really easy and definitely no reason to stress!!!

I've found that i'm becomming stressed because time is flying by and i'm not sure what to do next

    she's not being helpful.

  10. My parents flew down this morning on Spirit (they took the wedding gown for me).  The gown was considered a "personal item", so no charge.  There was no closet on the plane, but they laid it on top of all the carry-ons.  Mom said everything was just fine. :)

  11. Check oyster.com for more pictures...

  12. The extra $20/pp covers the cost of champagne, larger cake, and setup.

  13. Hmmmm I love that I was able to have a multi-colored and personalized image on my bags, however the totes are the typical small, canvas tote.  I am happy with them, but I think I would have prefered an actual beach bag sized tote for everyone.  Looking back, I think I would have purchased the dollar tree bags....

  14. LOL You're welcome, but the thanks should go to snowbelt... she found out the answer! LOL

    THANK SNOWBELT!!! LOL
