  1. Has anyone else bought sunglasses for their OOT bags? I'm looking for some sort of clever saying to attach to them, like the one I am attaching to the pashminas for the girls (which I obv borrowed from the many BDW brides on here "To have and to hold, in case you get cold". Sun and Fun rhyme, so this shouldn't be that hard... but my brain is fried! Any clever rhymes out there?
  2. We sent ours out 10 months in advance. Our formal invites are going out in a couple of weeks with an October deadline for putting down deposts.
  3. Great Job! I like how you had people RSVP tentatively on your website first so that you know who to send formal invites to. I wish I had thought of that!
  4. Just skimmed through the weekly flyers and bubba kegs are half price at Canadian Tire this week. FYI!
  5. I think I'm going to do that too, Ella. Did you put the location for the ceremony and reception on your invites? I'm pretty dead set on the beach gazebo for the ceremony. NOt sure about the reception yet. I should be able to book that when I confirm ceremony time, right?
  6. Thanks Sharon - Just PMd you back Darn 150 post rule!
  7. Thanks JayKay. I think I will just go ahead and book too.
  8. Ladies, Were you able to book a photog without having your wedding time confirmed? My date is booked, but I haven't been able to confirm a time with the WC at our resort. She is still waiting to confirm with the officiant. Not to mention, I;d like to get my invites out in the mail ASAP and my friend who is designing them is waiting on the time. Frustrating!
  9. If anyone is planning a trip to NYC before your wedding you have to check out this place in the wholesale district. I found out about it from another BDW bride. If you do a search you will find a thread that has the exact address (I can;t remember what it is!). The name of the company is Pioneer Group and the website is http://www.pioneergroup27.com/ My sister was visiting her BF last weekend and picked up 36 pashminas in my wedding colours (cobalt blue, lime green, scarlet red) and 48 pairs of sunglasses - mostly aviators for just under $140! I picked everything up from her this past weekend and I'm really impressed with the quality of everything. If you are going to go down there, make sure you check out the website first and write down the codes of the products you want. They have a ton of selection. I believe that the pashminas were 12 for $26 and the glasses were 12 for $13.
  10. Hi Ella, I requested 4pm when we confirmed our date, but Rocio said she still needed to wait with the officiant to confirm the time. My graphic designer is waiting for the confirmation of time for our wedding invites! So frustrating! I did finally hear back from Rocio about a week ago and she said that the officiant would be able to confirm the time within a couple of weeks... So I hope that means by the end of this week?!
  11. So frustrating! Did you fill out the date request forms and email them to her? Or are you just waiting to see if the day is even available? She was pretty quick when we were communicating about putting down my deposit, but once that was booked I haven't been able to get ahold of her. I would like to book my photog but I would like to give him/her the timeframe! When do you arrrive at the resort? I wonder if we will be there at the same time? I'm there Dec 31-Jan 7. Our flight times were just confirmed and we will be in Mexico by 10am on New Years Eve, which means we will be there for their big gala. WOO!
  12. I'm obsessed with BTR! It does take a long time to receive your merchandise, so heads up for anyone who is planning on buying from them. I;ll have to check out hautelook; haven't heard of that one.
  13. LOVE the boutonneires! Such a great idea! How did you make those? Those are our wedding colours and I was thinking about including peacock feathers. I might need to steal this idea!
  14. Have you thought about getting married over the Christmas break? That is what I am doing. I'm not sure where you are from, but usually we get two weeks off. That should help with the time crunch.
  15. Nice! I can't wait to see them. Did you use iron on transfers on them? These bags are supposed to take them pretty well apparently. I haven't decided if I'm going to use iron on transfers or just attach a tag with our monogram.
  16. Good for Canadian shipping?! Nice find girl! I'm going to probably order from them again; I need the key card holders and probably some other odds and ends. I hope I can find a free shipping code then!
  17. Tori, Here is a link to a thread where there is a pic of the same bag. A couple of girls ordered them I think. If you read the last few posts I posted a promo discount code. The bags are white with royal blue straps! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73803/updated-cute-oot-bags-on-sale-at-oriental-trading-company-20-for-a-dozen-pic-on-page-3/30#post_1621181
  18. A lot of Canadian companies like Sunquest and Transat offer free trips when you book a certain number of guests. The trip, mind you, is for airfare and accomodations, so I think it works quite differently from the states where it seems like people book those separately. Transat offered us free trips for every 21 people to book. Right now we are at two free trips and we are using one for my little sister who is still in university and one for my FI's mom who really can't afford the trip otherwise. As far as budget, i've done up an excel spreadsheet to make my estimates and keep track throughout the entire process. My estimate is $18,000. We'll see if we can do it! Part of our biggest cost is that at the resort we chose we need to pay for a private reception if more than 40 people book (which is the case for us). It's pretty pricey! We have to pay $20 a head for guests at the ceremony (12 are free), and about $60 a plate at dinner. It's adding up really quickly! All in all, the wedding ceremony + reception will probably be around $6000! We've been saving since we got engaged last summer and our goal is to have it all paid for before we go. Fingers crossed! Best of luck with the budgeting to all of you
  19. Wow! Thanks for all the great ideas, Tori! As for shipping from Oriental Trading (I think you asked in a post a few pages back... I just read through and am getting caught up!), it wasn't too bad. I ordered my OOT bags (60) and the total came to $140 with shipping/taxes/duty. Also, I ordered them during the strike and the came by purolator within a week! Tam - where is there a TBS in Ottawa?
  20. Hey ladies! I'm planning on starting the program after the holiday weekend in July. I'm a teacher and I have the summer off, so I basically have NO EXCUSE not to workout daily! I have a burnt copy of the program from a friend of mine. I don't have any of the manuals or guides. Do you think I should shell out the 50 bucks for the full program, or should I just use the burnt copies? I found a link a couple of pages back with the program. Thanks to whoever posted that!
  21. Thanks ladies! October it is
  22. Ladies getting married next year: Have you been able to book your ceremony time? I want to get on booking a photographer, but I'm waiting to hear back from Rocio to confirm my ceremony time! I emailed her originally a few weeks ago, then again last week and I haven't had a response.
