  1. Oooh, I love six-prong settings, mine's a six-prong as well, with a plain band. I'm planning on getting a wedding band with diamonds, so thanks for the inspiration. Do you happen to have a pic of them side by side on your finger? I haven't gone to try bands with my e-ring yet, so I'm not sure how it will look. I love your husband's ring too, btw. That looks great! Classy and masculine and unique all at once.
  2. Ah, I see. When you said trashed, I thought you meant really really trashed beyond repair I semi-trashed a bridesmaid dress once (the pic in my avatar actually) and it came completely clean. The only stain I couldn't get out wasn't even from the trashing, it was from when the seamstress had it with her for alterations!
  3. I love this! It's got such a pretty neckline, and I love those types of ruffles on a skirt. It will look beautiful for a destination wedding. You looked stunning, your hair and makeup were perfect! I can't believe you had the guts to really trash the dress
  4. Oh, one more thing. You may want to consider how many weddings they do per day. This can matter for getting attention from the wedding coordinator, having your choice of locations and times, and your choice of reception venue. The Iberostars only have one wedding a day, some resorts have 3.
  5. Welcome to the board! I guess everyone can come by and recommend their chosen resort to you, but that wouldn't be very helpful Nevertheless, I would recommend the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites (or Beach), and let me tell you why - you say you're put off by bad reviews. You will rarely read anything bad about the Iberostar Rose Hall resorts, so in that price range they are excellent value. Not the cheapest, but best value IMO. Their wedding package is relatively flexible and competitively priced as well. We especially liked that it's three resorts in one, so guests who are on a tighter budget can stay at the Beach, instead of the Suites. Other things to think about - how much does the resort charge for outside vendors (eg. photographer). Is the resident resort photographer good (or will you need to hire one from outside)? Do they offer private receptions for your expected group size? Adults only, or family-friendly? E-mail and get detailed cost info from everyone resort you're considering. ie. What's included, and what are the costs for extras. good luck and have fun

I'm also wondering if your centerpieces were the standard in the package for $58, or if they were extra (I'm guessing extra, lol). Did you use Tai Flora? Also, was your bouquet standard as included in the package, or extra charge? Thanks so much for letting us have a peek.

Still need to get alterations done. We had some fun at the bridal store - the pink at the bottom is the hanger lol this is what I am looking to do with my hair - complete opposite of what I was going for but I love it - I also purchased that veil becuase the beading in it was meant for my dress!! This picture of my sitting makes me laugh - almost like I should be on top of a cake You look beautiful and so happy in your dress! I love the veil, it's really a nice touch with the beading. BTW, I've been to Las Dunas and loved it. The sand is just amazing, so so soft. That's a gorgeous dress, don't listen to naysayers. I may be slightly biased, as I ended up with a WTOO as well, and I just love the line in general. *sigh* I never get tired of seeing this dress It's absolutely perfect on you.
  8. Thanks for all the replies! I guess setting up a small registry is definitely the way to go. We won't "advertise" it, but will let it spread by word of mouth if anyone asks.

Can I include fuschia in there somewhere? My cousin got married in Punta Cana, and we wore turquoise dresses. Our (silk) flowers were fuchsia, red and orange, and it looked great. Here's a pic. Congrats! It's such an exciting feeling to know your date is booked
  10. I love that dress, it was on my list to try on but I never did find it. There's a girl a few posts back who picked that one as well. Here's the pic:
  11. The Agosto looks amazing! I'd love to see it in person, if you think the picture isn't good, because it looks beautiful to me
  12. I have a cake question - if you have more guests than what's included in the basic package, do you need to pay extra to have a bigger cake? Can anyone elaborate? Thanks Jules - we wish you all the best, and can't wait til you get back, of course
  13. I love it! I don't like bands that are funny shaped, so they can't really be worn alone. Yours totally can! Make sure to show us when it's all done!
  14. Girls, I need help. I'd love to wear both a flower and a veil - please point me to some pictures for ideas.
  15. Nice! I wonder what the chances are that the Suites will do this. We sure could use it...
  16. I was open to trying anything! The most out-there dress I tried (considering I'm having a DW), was Enzoani blue Dabra. It doesn't look like much on the picture, but it was gigantic! Most of it was still sitting in the dressing room when I walked way out, it was that big. I got a chuckle from Watters Perth as well. It was about one size too small on me, and I was busting out all over the place (despite being a just a size 2, 34B, with no hips to speak of). Just be open, and remember that trying on a dress is not making a commitment! And take pictures! I cannot stress how important it is to have pictures to look at when you get home. It's a completely different perspective, and if I had gone by my feeling on the spot, I would've ended up with some ugly dresses. And have fun! I was very stressed at the time, but now I wish I could do a bit more dress shopping, in a more relaxed state of mind.

I will keep that in mind. I can't wait to try on bands with my ring!

I want a plain platinum band to match. Mine is a 0.7 ct. I have very small fingers (size 4.5 ring finger), so a small stone still looks great on me FI went for quality over size, and it really does sparkle so much nicer than many other rings I've seen that are larger. I work in a lab, so I'm constantly putting on and taking off gloves, washing hands, and working with my hands all day. Anyway.... I really want a band that has diamonds on it (because I may not wear the e-ring to work later on). I originally wanted diamonds on the e-ring band as well, but I ended up with the solitaire (FI chickened out on getting it custom made, worrying that I wouldn't like it in the end, and instead just gave me the option to change it afterwards, but I chose to keep it solitaire). So I will try to get a matching band that has channel or bead-set diamonds across the front. I can't wait to go shopping for bands, but FI thinks it too early!

If we are not exhausted by than we may continue to party at the disco for the remainder of the night I did see your first answer, but there just weren't many others We're doing a beach party for our welcome party - planning on bonfire and appetizers/ drinks on the beach. I'm not even planning on cocktails between the ceremony and reception - at my cousin's DW everyone just took that time to freshen up and change, and some people even went to the pool and stuff (it was 1:30 ceremony and 6 or 7 pm reception). I think for our wedding, I'll just leave that to be free time for the guests - they can entertain themselves I'm sure, and some people will want to change clothes anyway Here's my plan so far: Monday welcome party: Bonfire, open bar and appetizers on the beach. I will only pay for 1 hour. If people want drinks after that, I'm sure they can find their own, or waiters might be walking by anyway. Wednesday - wedding day: - Ceremony on the terrace ~ 3-3:30 pm - then cake and champagne immediately after ceremony, for ~30 min. Maybe steel pans band during this time, if budget allows (which I don't think it does. lol) - free time for guests until reception. Wedding party to take pictures until sunset - dinner & reception 6:30-10 (hopefully private at Calabash, but will depend on numbers), with DJ and dancing. Includes speeches, first dance, bouquet toss. No cake, because we're doing the cake right after the ceremony. I haven't decided on open bar yet. Does anyone know if there's a bar very close to Calabash? So, it definitely looks like the reception will be too short. I need to ask Nicole if we can stay later. I don't want to move to the Disco - for one, it won't be private, and two, when we tried to do this at my cousin's wedding, the crowd just split up and the night fizzled out. I'll ask her, and I'll report back - but I'm not promising to do it SOON
  20. LOL I disagree. I can wear short dresses anytime I want, but I know I will want to wear my wedding dress for as long as I can, because there's only ever that one chance I never even considered changing into something else for the reception.

I specifically asked for an e-ring setting that would work with a straight band, just because I wanted to avoid the curve. But yours looks great! I love your bands! Very pretty! Of course, I may be biased because it looks very similar to mine - in setting and size
  22. Hi girls! The first time I posted this it kind of got lost in the mix, so I'd love to see if anyone else has any comments: I'm just wondering what everyone is doing for dinner & reception. From the info I have, private restaurant rental is from about 6:30 -10. The disco can only be rented out privately until 10:30, so it doesn't make sense to do private dinner and then private disco. But I feel like 10 pm is pretty early to call it a night, and I would like a PRIVATE reception to go a bit later into the night, like midnight at least. I'm not sure if it makes sense to have a DJ and dancing if we have to clear out by 10 pm. Am I missing something? How is everyone else planning the reception? Is there any way to have the reception last until midnight?

So much so, that I posted me vs. model pics of my trials before I had even committed I think it's always useful to see "real" pics of dresses. Then of course I posted the one I finally ordered.
