  1. one more question - there's free internet access in the rooms? This is according to Julie's recent review.
  2. Anyone who has been to the Suites - what kind of mirrors are provided in the bathroom, and how is the lighting? I'm considering doing my own makeup, so this is super important. At my cousin's DW, the bathroom was like a dungeon, and it was terrible trying to get ready.
  3. Has anyone managed to book a wedding date at the Beach since the last WC left? I'm trying to switch my date from the Suites to the Beach, but I'm not hearing back form them.
  4. I think your question got missed so I'll answer - I believe it's a Mikaella.
  5. SweetLe - Wow, that looks like a very packed schedule! In our 3-hour window, we're only looking for pictures of the ceremony, the cake and champagne afterwards, group pictures, and then pictures of us on the beach and around the resort. I don't really *need* pictures of us getting ready, or reception pictures - we can do with non-professional ones for those. I think we should add a 4th hour, but I'll do it later on. Thanks everyone for the input!
  6. @chan_porty - You made it! Congrats, and can't wait to hear all about it. You pictures are absolutely stunning!!! That last one belongs in a perfume ad or something, it's just magical. Can't wait for your review.
  7. So we're really on a budget, and I absolutely fell in love with a particular photographer's work. I bargained down the price of her cheapest package by a few hundred dollars, but it's for just 3 hours. It's her and an assistant. We only need coverage of the ceremony, cake/champagne immediately afterwards, and then pictures on the beach and around the resort for us and the bridal party. No reception pics needed. Can we do all this in 3 hours? I'm really stressed about it. The other photographer I was going to book was about the same price, but no time limit! It seems crazy in comparison, but I love the work of the more expensive photographer (and with good reason I guess, lol). Can any past brides comment on the timing of photography?

If you stay at the Beach and have your wedding there, any guests staying at the Suites can come without charge. My guests are staying 6 nights at the Suites and the consensus per person has been about $1400-1500 with airfare taking up about $400-500 of that number. I don't think that's the case at all. I'm pretty sure that you can stay at the Suites and have the wedding at the Beach. We've reserved our date at the Suites, but now it looks like most of our guests may be staying at the Beach. I'm considering changing the wedding to the Beach, but I haven't heard back regarding availability of our date. I guess there's a backlog, now that their WC has left.

  10. The day passes are only $30 if staying at other Iberostar properties, and we decided early on that we would pay it for our guests who are staying at the Beach. We're looking to book packages, instead of hotel and flight separately, so nothing's done yet. I just emailed for a few more quotes, and I should visit my own TA soon. So stressful!
  11. We got engaged in December, and sent STD's in January, which is over 10 months in advance. But the prices are so high, it's really really really stressing me out. We're actually telling people to wait until summer to book, and we'll get some more group quotes later. I'm afraid that people are looking at the high prices now, and deciding not to go based on that So let's all hope and pray that they go down soon, but I think the high gas prices aren't helping. I think most of my guests will end up staying at the Beach, but our wedding is at the Suites. I'm considering moving it to the Beach, but I don't know if our date is free (it probably isn't), and since their wedding coordinator left, it must be tough to get a hold of them now. Wish me luck!
  12. Oh, wait, we can't edit posts, can we? So much for that idea. I could've sworn I saw a thread like that, with everyone's name and date listed. Maybe a mod did it?
  13. Great idea, I've been thinking of starting one too. It would be even better if the OP would be willing to update the initial post, pasting everyone's username and wedding date. it would be so helpful for those of us looking to share photographers or decorations, or just to meet up. My date is Nov 16, 2011 at the Suites. Seems so close yet so far! No one's booked yet, but the dress is ordered
  14. But I will definitely go and check out ebay for a replica, just for fun
  15. I would be more scared of losing it if I take it off at the resort. Do you plan on keeping it in the safe? Even so, I think it's safest (pardon the pun) on my finger But mine doesn't fit loosely, so I don't think it would ever come off on its own. And I figure that if I get some sand or sunscreen on it, I might just take a bit of jewelery cleaning solution with me, to sparkle it up for the big day. I think I would buy a fake one to wear on other vacations, when I can leave the real one safely at home (in the care of my mother or something).
  16. It's perfect on you, love it! I think you posted in another thread with your top 3, this being one of them - was that you? I remember this dress, it was my top choice out of the 3. Congrats
  17. Here are some pics of the balcony weddings. I'm looking forward to this thread becoming another great resource!
  18. It's beautiful, and totally unique! I'd love to see it in person.

Amy Good question, I'd love to know as well. We're planning to have our welcome party on Monday as well, so it would be good to know.
  20. Ah yes, here are the digipix albums. Hope the links work. http://digipixltd.smugmug.com/WEDDINGS-IBEROSTAR-JAMAICA/WEDDINGS-IBERO-2011/Anna/16344256_spJsV#1228645770_jYVkx http://digipixltd.smugmug.com/WEDDINGS-IBEROSTAR-JAMAICA/WEDDINGS-IBERO-2011/Dominique/16344537_rST4n#1228668682_R4CnT http://digipixltd.smugmug.com/WEDDINGS-IBEROSTAR-JAMAICA/WEDDINGS-IBERO-2011/Album/16344793_k9gMY#1228692502_r4Bsh FWIW, we've decided to book Marcia. Not my absolute favourite pics, but very decent for the price.

He has never visited Jamaica, nor the Caribbean for that matter, and just needs some guidance on how/where to start. Contacting the hotel directly would be the logical way to start but they say they have emailed the hotel through their site but have not heard back from anyone and its been a few days. This of course has them a bit jittery and wondering if they should even try do it after all. I told them to rewind, hold up, soon come and all that good stuff But seriously, I want them see how beautiful my Jamaica is and have their vows renewed in paradise to replace a wedding they never had. This ceremony would be very special and romantic. It is just for the couple only, so the planning should be much simpler than for a whole group. I am Jamaican but left about 8 years ago, so Iberostar wasn't even there at that time. I also wasn't from MoBay, so at a loss there as well. They need to find out if there is a renewal of vows package, price and what it includes. If not then they would need to arrange for things like: a minister, talk to a wedding coordinator at Iberostar, plan the ceremony, arrange a floral bouquet and boutonnierre, decoration and floral centerpiece for their dining table, find out options for which restaurant or location within the resort to dine, small wedding cake, champagne, music, photography, dinner, possibly flowers and champagne to the room and estimated cost of all these. Anyone else who has planned a wedding or renewal of vows at Iberostar Rose Hall - how did you initially get directly in contact with a wedding coordinator or public relations manager? Iberostar seems to have a call center not a direct line and emails haven't been answered yet. Any help at all or advice on how to get started (wedding or renewal of vows) would be great and maybe you can help alleviate some of their planning doubts. There is a renewal of vows package, it is $1900 at the Suites. The wedding coordinators are busy, but they usually reply within a week. In the meantime, here's some info for you: “BLESSED BY THE SEA†RENEWAL OF VOWS OR BLESSING CEREMONY* *(NOT LEGAL) Cost: US$ 1,900 (incl. tax & service charge) Our wedding package is for 2 to 8 people. Groups of more than 8 people will be charged an additional fee of $18 USD per each extra guest [iberostar Rose Hall Suites Guests] (Incl. GCT and service charge). Children under the age of 12 are free of charge. Package includes: Minister’s Fees Bride’s bouquet & matching Groom’s boutonniere Floral centerpiece for the head wedding table Decoration of the wedding location Wedding Cake decorated with fresh flowers (8 people) House champagne at the ceremony for you and your guests Music for the ceremony (from CD player) Wedding dinner at one of our A La Carte Restaurants for you and your guests EXTRAS: Fruits & red wine on the room upon arrival to the hotel Complementary bottle of champagne delivered to the room on wedding day Two Honeymooners T-shirts Breakfast in bed the morning after the wedding 10% discount at the Hotel Spa & Salon for the bride & groom‡ Congrats, and can't wait to see pics! Just wondering - did they upgrade you to the Grand for free, or did you pay extra? We're planning to do the same thing, but we'll be booking 2 weeks at the Suites. After the wedding, we will probably pay extra to go to the Grand if they don't upgrade us for free. We're planing to do the ceremony on the balcony - it's one of the things that really stood out to be when I started looking at this resort. Here are some pics I found, though I'm not sure which are from the Beach vs. the Suites. Google search will give you a quick result.
  22. The first dress is pretty, but the second one is a stunner! Who's the designer? Yaay! Which one? Maybe I know already, but right now I can't think of another WToo bride here (I'm a Dulconee girl)
  23. Yaaay, another WTOO! I ordered the Dulconee. I tried on yours as well, I loved so many of the WTOO dresses. I remember that one was so delicate and comfortable.
