  1. So you had your diamond re-set into a different setting while you were shopping for your wedding band? Quote: Originally Posted by MJB3172012 Starrysim, I also have a six-prong round solitaire. 2. yep, I could tell it was Allure from the picture. After you've looked at enough designers websites, you recognize them by the models and the style of the picture
  3. The place where my diamond was set said the same thing - they said they themselves use Mr. Clean. The ring sure was sparkly after she cleaned it for me. They also offer re-dipping for 5 yrs I think, so I'll have to get that done before the wedding for sure. We'll just see how much of the sparkle it loses after 4 days of sand and sunscreen. lol At home, I've been cleaning it with hot water and a bit of baby shampoo, and scrubbing with a soft toothbrush. I also have an ammonia-based jewelery cleaning solution, but I don't use it often because I'm afraid it will make the white gold wear or fade faster - does anyone know?
  4. I like yours much better than the Galante (which I tried on as well). Well done! On a related note - my dress came in this week!! I just got my shoes as well, but I'm worried they will be too stark white next to my ivory dress. Cross my fingers and hope for the best, because wedding shoe shopping has not been easy!
  5. It's very pretty, no wonder you miss it! I would be devastated if I had to part with mine - which is why I gave strict directions that when he got me a ring, it would have to be THE real ring, and in my correct size, so I could wear it right away. He obliged It's funny, I'm the other way - I don't like to say "fiance," so I say boyfriend most of the time. People probably wonder if I have a boyfriend on the side in addition to my fiance, since I have the ring. LOL
  6. I've seen the name of some travel agent or website that girls here have been recommending for good prices for MoBay. I can't remember the name, and can't find it through all the posts. It was a longer name, 3 words, and had Jamaica or Caribbean or some guy's name in it. LOL, not sure if that helps, but either way, can you guys recommend anything? My brother will be flying from CA.
  7. Just wondering where you saw this guy's work, since you're saying he's so good? Does he have a website, or did he send you his portfolio? I already put a $100 depoit down with someone else, but if this guy's prices are so much less, it may be worth it still. IF he's really good, that is. Can you comment? thx
  8. Beautiful dress, the ruffles will be amazing on the beach! I LOVE your maid of honor's dress - do you know the designer and style? I love the colour too, it's exactly what I want as well Congrats on the beautiful dresses.
  9. Such pretty and diverse rings, I always love peeking into this thread. I've been searching for a wedding band to go with my solitaire. I really want a very thin bands with very small diamonds, most likely half-eternity. I just can't seem to find anything that I feel "matches" my solitaire well enough. I'd like the two bands to look relatively uniform, even if one has diamonds and the other doesn't. I will probably have to get it custom made. Any suggestions for me? I would also love to see your solitaire e-rings paired with diamond wedding bands! Here's a pic of my e-ring. I originally wanted the e-ring to have pave sidestones too, but in the end my fiance got me the solitaire (was too chicken to have a setting custom made, in case I didn't like it in the end. lol, poor men). I fell in love with it just the way it is, but I still want some sparkle on my wedding band, in case I want to wear it on its own (to work and stuff).

  11. Wow, I'm loving every single one of the recent dresses posted. Makes me wish I could go dress shopping again! Here's my lovely, arriving at the beginning of August hopefully. I'm pretty sure I posed before, but here it goes again. lol
  12. You can switch over if you want, I switched from Suites to the Beach. It's not so much as "switch," you just book the other one and then cancel the first. They are different wedding coordinators, the wedding planning isn't shared by the resorts. They don't charge a cancellation fee unless you've already sent in the paperwork and they applied for the marriage license already. Yes, you can have your wedding at the Beach if you're staying at the Suites. But there are some rules on a certain percentage of your guests having to stay at the resort where you're getting married. Remember, people staying at the Suites can go over to the Beach for free. I would actually recommend having the wedding at the Beach. It's more affordable for guests that way, and you don't have to worry about paying the day pass fee (or asking guests to pay it), and you don't have to worry so much about who's staying where. I know for our guests price is a major issue, so we just didn't find it feasible to stick with the Suites. Good luck, and happy planning! Let me tell you, time sure creeps up on you.
  13. I can't believe it, time is flying!! My dress is ordered, thank goodness, and STD's were sent out in January, but we're just now working on getting our group quote and booking people. I'm glad we waited until prices dropped, but they're still not as low as I would like. lol. I just don't want to wait too long and miss the boat, so to speak! We're going to work on our invitation as soon as we move into our new house in a month. Flowers will just have to wait. Am I also the last of the 2011 brides who has not ordered bridesmaid dresses yet? I don't even know who my bridesmaids are for sure at this point. oops. Must get on that in July for sure. As for photography - I'm sending in my deposit to Marcia Roberts ASAP. I also really love Misha Earle's work - those of you looking for a photographer should check out her website and blog. Brian Nejedly was also pleasant to deal with. I did the same, switched from the Suites to the Beach. Did I start a movement? Make sure to update your new date in the Roll Call thread as well.
  14. I think the first one is a bit blah. The second one is unique and interesting without being over the top - I love it! What colour will they be?
  15. All this talk of taking cash for DJ and photographer is freaking me out. Just to make sure, there are bank machines (mastercard) at the resort, right? I'd much rather take money out the day of, and pay some interest and fees, rather than carry thousands of dollars around for a week.
  16. We didn't even consider it. Even if you book your absolute favourite local Jamaican photographer with their most expensive package, it will still be so much less than bringing your own, and you'll still have amazing pictures. They know the resort, they're comfortable and at home, I think they would be able to do the best work. Just my opinions.
  17. Can't wait to read a full review! Please post more pics, lots and lots of pics And don't mind me if I PM you with a million questions later Congrats!
  18. Awww I've loved this dress for so long! A few years ago, one of my friends was getting married and I was so in the mood and looked at a bunch of dresses online at the time. This was one of my early favourites
  19. You're just two days before me, how exciting! Hope to see you on the boards more, and I might just have to sneak a peek at your ceremony I'm also updating the list for X-Tina: 2011 Brides 6.30.2011 – mrsdeloatch2be – Suites 7.13.2011 – daisymable – Suites 9.9.2011 – Islandgirl910 – Suites 9.10.2011 – toiinlove – Grand 10.8.2011 – futuremrstgun – Beach 10.30.2012 – nolabride78 (Stacy & Raymond) 11.6.2011 – pmwoodard1978 (Paula & xx) – Beach 11.6.2011 - ErinDoc (Erin & Bryan) - Suites 11.11.2011 – mrsgreene2011 (Jeanine & Reuben) – Suites 11.14.2011 - Sn2bMrsMarshall (Eric & Sheena) - Beach 11.16.2011 – starrysim – Beach 12.6.2011 – Kimberli1211 (Kim & Coleman) – Suites 2012 Brides 1.9.2012 – daizyduke – Suites 1.18.2012 - RyGuysBride - Suites 2.2.2012 – shanas (Shana & Brian) – Beach 2.22.2012 - X-Tina - Suites 2.24.2012 – hayjk – Suites 2.26.2012 – bjcs21 – Suites 4.18.2012 – cGd41812 – Suites 5.30.2012 – MoBayBride2B – Suites 6.22.2012 – dcrow55 – Suites 7.1.2012 – JADE28 (Charene & Kevin) – Suites 7.22.2012 – IslandBride201x (Kim & Eric) – Suites
  20. You look like a bride already! Stunning. You're one of my favourite brides on the board in this dress, thanks for posting again
  21. To the girls who are having a hard time finding something they love, and not having the "this is it" feeling - hang in there! I almost said yes to a few dresses, and they would've been mistakes! Definitely trust your gut feeling, take lots of pics, sleep on it, and go to as many stores as you need to. I tried on close to 100 dresses. One the last day, I went to try on once again my top dress, thinking I would get it. I tried on about 10 other dresses that day, and while many were pretty, none felt like "the one." Then, the VERY LAST dress I was going to try on turned out to be the one! I almost didn't try it because it was on a mannequin in the window, but the saleswoman was such a sweetheart and didn't mind at all. I'm so happy with my final choice, and I'm glad I tried on that very last dress after all.
  22. LOL, no, November 2011 actually I know most people seem to be booking way early, but we got quotes as soon as prices came out, and it seemed high. I'm holding on to the hope that waiting longer will pay off. We plan to book in July. There's so much family stuff going on right now, it's a bit crazy for all of our family as well. As for deciding between the Beach and Suites - We originally booked the Suites, but then it started to look like most of our guests will be on a tighter budget and the price point of the Beach would be better. So we figured we might as well move the wedding to the Beach, no sense in having 80% of our guests move over for the day of the wedding ($30 day pass fee). If you think your guests will be able to afford it, then go with the Suites - more choices of restaurants, nicer rooms, etc. But honestly, I think the Beach is nice enough. How did you get your quotes? Online, in person, travel agents? We've gotten quotes from 3 different places, and I've asked one of those agents for a quote a second time, but I feel silly asking for quotes every month. We haven't even gone to "THE" agent, which is my family's usual travel agent. I think I will look around first, and then get her to match or beat the best price I get

I've gotten a few quotes and they seem so high! Just wondering if I'm out of my mind or if it is what it is and either I accept it or choose another hotel. So far, rates have ranged from $1800 (beach) to over $2000 (suites) for all-in from Toronto. I was really hoping to find something around $1800 for the suites.. is that unreasonable? My wedding will be in November, and we're flying from TO. The best quotes I got so far were $1590 for the Beach, and $1810 for the Suites for Saturday departures - waiting for them to go down a bit more before I book. FWIW, they were higher when I first asked for quotes a few months ago ($1700 for Beach, $1900 for Suites). I don't believe in "early booking bonuses." Those are great prices - Beach or Suites, and what day of the week departure? How early did you book? I negotiated about $200-300 off Misha's cheapest package (the 3 hour one). I'm still afraid to book her, I can't seem to commit!
