Bridesmaids dresses
starrysim replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Here's the dress my girls will be wearing. I adore the colour! We got them at Le Chateau. -
Just wondering, are we charged taxes on top of all the wedding fees? I'm asking because my quote from Tai Flora has 17% tax added on top. Plus another 4% to pay by credit card. Then an extra 2.5% that my credit card will charge for the USD transaction. It really adds up! I don't want an unpleasant surprise when we check out and pay for the wedding. Can't believe I have less than a month to go!

They don't really send you that info unless you specifically request it, so ask for it. When I was planning on having my wedding at the Suites, I asked about the possibility of a buffet dinner, and sure enough they had it, at $55 per person, with a long menu. There's also a meny available for the appetizers for the cocktail party if you ask for it.

It's a very intense DVD-based workout program. Google BeachBody Insanity. The good thing is, all you need is a space to be able to jump and do floor exercises. Like the amount of space to do push-ups and jumping jacks. It helps if you have a partner to keep motivated, so you guys should do it together. Actually, my guy is in the basement doing a workout right now, I'm skipping the day, being a bad girl. Thanks for all the other comments. My stomach is still not as toned as I would like, but much better than where I started. The good thing is, the dress gives a great shape, I just wish my 2-piece bikinis were as forgiving. lol I've said it before, your dress and your BM dress are great, they compliment each other so well. I tried on this wedding dress, and I had picked out that BM dress as a top option, but in the end we got dresses from the mall. Can't wait to see your wedding pics! -

This dress is retailed at 1900$ and I got it for 200$! That was my budget exactly! Once I get nice photos with it on I will post them. My dress is ivory, I think the dress below is white. But I love this dress...maybe even more then my more expensive dress! Thoughts? Thanks This is beautiful, and getting such a great deal makes it even sweeter I'm a bargain hunter, can you tell. And a shout out to all the fellow brides doing INSANITY!!! My fiance and I are almost done month two, and my stomach hasn't been this flat in years. I just bought size 25 jeans, down from 27, none of my old clothes fit anymore Can't wait to have my next dress fitting and have the dress actually fit! I bought it one size big because I was afraid it would be too small, but I ended up losing weight in the end. Yaaay for Insanity. Here's my dress, trying the sample first (with a little stomach, but all pinned up), and then trying my own at home about a month ago (pre-alterations, so it's big, and not pinned, I'm trying to hold it tight in the back, lol). Next fitting Oct 30, can't wait! I've posted before, but here goes anyway... -

That's great to hear! I remember seeing someone's pics, and it didn't look very nice, but I could be remembering wrong, or maybe it was the lighting... Ok, I sent mine today. From Canada Post's website, it doesn't look like they offer Expresspost to Jamaica, just regular mail (with registered option for $13), and the Priority Int'l Pack, which is like $130. So I went with Purolator, it cost $50+tax and it's 2 days. Doesn't sound too bad. I may have gone with CP's regular registered mail, but I'm late and had to get it there ASAP.

Iberostar Wedding Coordinator- Info
starrysim replied to luvmoo's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
There are no issues anymore. Silvia is the WC for the Beach, and the email address is [email protected]om.jm. Nicole is for the Suites, her address is weddings.suites@iberostar.com.jm -
1. We sent STD magents (ordered from VistaPrint) 11 months before. I would recommend sending them a year in advance if you can. 2. We sent invitations 3 months before, but that's just a formality. I did put in RSVP cards pointing them to our website or phone number. Only about half the people actually RSVP'd. Things tend to be very untraditional with destinations weddings, people don't take them as seriously I guess. 3. Used our family travel agent, which means some things were a little unconventional, and she did pull strings for us. She arranged to have our quote valid for a month or two, to allow people to put their deposit down whenever they wanted (it's IMPOSSIBLE to get the whole group together at one time). She also held spaces without deposit. Also, when the prices dropped, she arranged to have our rates lowered. I don't think much of this happens usually 4. We sent STD's very early, so there was no travel info yet. We put that into on our wedding website and our facebook group. We sent invitations later, so there was no need to include travel info again, just the URL of the website. 5. One month to go, we still don't know who's coming for sure. We know how many are booked, but others are still waiting for last minute deals, so we don't know for sure. Also, many people have been saying for years that they will go for sure, and when the time comes they're not going after all. We didn't even know who was in our wedding party until about 2-3 months before the wedding. I was expecting this, so I didn't count on anyone until they actually booked. We didn't really need the final numbers because we're not doing OOT bags or anything, but I can see it getting very frustrating if you're trying to plan things and do a lot of extra stuff. For favours, we just ordered ~15-20 extras, just so we don't run out for sure. Good luck with your planning! Wow, that's crazy! I'm actually mailing our documents tomorrow. I was planning on using Canada Post, some method that's quick and with tracking. I don't see an issue. I had no idea the couriers were so expensive, the reason I was going to go with CP is because it's more convenient for me.

Suggestions on Make up artist in Jamaica?

Regarding the beach BBQ - which resort are you talking about? I know at the Suites they have a buffet option, and it's about $50-60. I'm talking about the Beach resort, their beach BBQ menu states $32 per person. Plus the open bar of course. But I'm not hearing back from the WC's, I'm getting a little irritated, considering they screwed up my plans, and now they don't seem to be trying hard to sort it out. I might have to call this weekend if I don't hear back. Not me, I think it's tacky. I would've tossed my bouquet, but we're only having ~25 people, and there will only be one single girl, so that wouldn't work

Any reviews on Queen Bee? Their prices are very good, but I haven't seen many pictures or reviews. -

She responded that 3pm was fine, and I could have it on the balcony as scheduled. Basically, the 'star friends' have something that they do at 4pm, and so they usually schedule weddings after that. So.... WHEW!!! On a side note, I'm having a marathon wedding planning/crafting weekend... woohooo! Lol. That's such a relief, because I'm planning a 3 pm ceremony on the terrace as well. And I'm a bit mad because I just found out that I can't have the disco. I asked to book it back in July, and she said it was too early to book, but she would put me on the list. I asked again later, no response. Now she says the disco is booked, so I'm not impressed. We don't have 40 people to rent out a restaurant, and doing the semi-private dinner plus disco was our way of keeping the budget down anyway (since the disco is cheaper, and includes DJ and open bar too). So now I'm back to square one with planning. I'm considering doing a beach party after the semi-private dinner, or maybe a beach BBQ. I have a menu list for a beach BBQ, and it's $32 per person, plus I would have to pay extra for open bar and DJ, thats's really over the budget. Plus, we were planning a welcome party on the beach, with bonfire and appetizers, so that may become redundant now. I'm so frustrated. What do you guys suggest? Sorry I haven't been on the board much, so I'm not up to date on all the chatter lately, but I'd love to know what everyone is planning other than restaurant rental or disco.

SO many pretty dresses. Mine's at the seamstress, and I don't get it until the end of October. I miss having it in my closet, I used to admire it every few days. lol -
Awww sorry to hear you're so sad. How about renting out the disco 8:30-10:30, and following that with the bonfire? Or, if you're renting out an entire restaurant, then you can do your dances and speeches there, and then move to the bonfire. Or, do what I'm doing - do the bonfire for your welcome party instead

Post your hair flower here
starrysim replied to yamille's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm wondering the same thing. The flower I want from Etsy comes in white and ivory. I don't know which one to choose. My dress is a light ivory, but I don't want the flower to look yellowish, and I also don't want it to look stark white. The seller hasn't gotten back to me about this, it's been 4 days. This is the flower I want. Seller is annapanik. -
Sorry for the late replies, life has been hectic (of course). They originally quoted me $40 for a glass cylinder w/ orchids and river stones. I asked for a cheaper alternative, and they came back with a quote for $30 for something similar. I'm sure that if you pressed, they could come up with one for $20. It helps if you're not picky. lol My quotes from Tai are significantly less than this. In particular, my arch flower arrangement is $85. I'm not being demanding though, maybe you asked for rare flowers or something elaborate? $650 for flowers for the arch sounds off. I didn't know about the $150 set-up fee or whatever it is. Not happy.
-
Do people have luck getting quotes from Tai Flora through their website form? I submitted it yesterday, just wondering how long it will take, and if they will ever get back to me. What kind of prices should I expect for something simple? I just need 3 small BM bouquets of green orchids, two bouts, two corsages, and decorations for the arch (which is listed as $50+ in the Beach wedding info). And a few simple centerpieces, the cheaper the better. lol. I remember someone posting one that was $20, it was a tall glass vase filled with water and orchids. Just wondering what kind of prices to expect, I may need to start shopping for fake flowers.

I tried on your dress as well - it looks amazing on you! I also love your bridesmaid dress. I had actually picked it out as one that I would've loved to have, but we ended up just going to the mall for dresses because it was too late by the time we got around to it. I tried on this dress as well It looks stunning on everyone that I've seen wear it, including you. Not sure why I didn't like it on me. Dresses are so tricky sometimes
