  1. Has anyone gotten married here recently, or considering this resort?
  2. I've been about 80% decided on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for next November, but truthfully I didn't look at many other resorts in that much detail. Can anyone recommend resorts that fit these criteria? not necessarily in order of importance - moderately priced (~1300 from Toronto for November, 1 week all-inclusive, all taxes in) - good beach - offers location on resort for ceremony, other than beach. I love the terrace setting at the IRHS - good photographer (not sure we can afford an outside photographer) - flexibility in reception *** very important. ie. private reception for small parties, maybe on the beach. flexible menu/buffer, flexible times. This is the one thing I don't like about IRHS - allows children I'd love to hear any suggestions, and if you have detailed information/ price lists for any resort I would be super interested. thanks so much!
  3. Hi girls! I started looking at resorts for our wedding (looking at Nov, 2011) in August/ September, and I was looking at prices for this November, meaning ~3 months in advance. At the time, the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites was priced at about $1300-1400 from Toronto (one week, all inclusive). However, if I look now, for Oct 2011 prices, it's more like $1800. Is it common for prices to be that high far ahead of time, and then go lower when it's a few months away? Even March & April prices are lower than that, so it doesn't make sense that November would be so much more expensive. Now I'm scared to book, in case I remember wrong or something, and it really will be $1800. Any thoughts? Does anyone have experience with October/November prices, from Toronto? thanks so much. I'd love to book ASAP, but I'm scared of the prices.

I'm guessing you just give them a deposit to hold the date, their info says they bill the rest of the wedding cost to your room and you just put it on your credit card when you check out. Hopefully we will have a wedding date before Christmas! I will keep my fingers crossed !! So that's the same time window as me I'm afraid it will be all booked up by the time I get around to it, but I've told the BF I'm not booking before I have a ring (we're not technically engaged yet). What are the price quotes you're getting for the actual vacation (ie. for the guests). Looking ahead to next November, it looks so expensive, but when I was looking in September/October for this November, it was ~$1300-1400 (incl taxes). Does that sound about right? I would hate to book it and then find that it will be more expensive for the guests than we intended. I sent you a PM.
  5. I guess we both have the same info so far. I'd love to know how your experience is with booking the date and making the initial plans. What date are you hoping to get? We're looking at next November or maybe October, but won't be booking for another month or two.
  6. Thanks, that's really useful. We actually want a mid-week (Tues/Wed/Thurs) wedding because most people would be going for a week, probably Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun, so it doesn't make sense to do it on the weekend. Our 10-year anniversary is on 11/11/11, but that's a Friday and I see it's already taken by someone else on the board So we're thinking to do it earlier that week, just to keep the date close. But we're not totally set on having it during that week, so as long as we get a mid-week date during late October or in November, it's all good. Thanks again for the info, and congrats on booking your date!
  7. How far in advance do you usually have to book your wedding day at IRHS? We're not quite engaged yet, but planning to get married there in Nov 2011. I've told him that there's no way I'm booking the wedding before I have a ring on my finger, but I see many of you booking so far in advance, so I'm a little worried. Will I be ok booking about 10 months in advance?
  8. Oh, I have another question. I only have the wedding info for the Suites. If anyone can provide similar details on the Beach and Grand, I would be so grateful.
  9. Hello ladies! I'm very close to deciding on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for our wedding next fall. I like everything about the resort, but I have a few concerns about the options for the reception/ dinner. I have tons of questions, so bear with me. We don't know the size of our party yet, but probably 15-35 people (probably more like 20 though). As I understand it, the only way we can have a private dinner is if we have at least 25 people, in which case we can rent the Mediterranean restaurant, or if we have at least 50 people then the Steakhouse. How strict are they with the number of people for the steakhouse? I don't think we'll have 50. In the info booklet I have, it specified that the Calabash can be booked private too, but doesn't specify the minimum number of guests. Does anyone know? My other question is, for the non-private dinner, how would you solve the issue of speeches, dancing, music, etc? Do they section off a section of the restaurant and you can do as you wish within that section? We'd like a traditional reception that runs into the wee hours of the morning, but I'm not sure how accomodating they will be. My other concern is the lack of selection in food. I'm a very picky eater, and don't even like most of the entrees that are listed. Is there any way to have a buffet dinner, even if it costs extra? I would also love to hear other suggestions for resorts, that would be in the same price range but more flexible with the reception and food. Thanks so much, ladies!
