Ok, girls, what gives? Am I the only one to find all Maggie gowns super uncomfortable? I went dress shopping for the first time today with high hopes, wanting to try a bunch of Maggie Sotteros in particular. I found them all too uncomfortable, is it just me? I'm waiting for my friend to send me the pics, and then I'll post, but so far the Anniston and Jill made it onto my short list. Sharon was pretty too, gave me an amazing silhouette, but I'm just not crazy about the design. I also tried Anastasia (didn't do anything for my figure), Michelle (waaay too heavy for the beach), SD5220 (very blah in person). I ended up trying on some Mori Lees afterwards, and I found those more comfortable, not as much corseting but still keeps my tummy in. I feel like I'm so far from finding my dress, even though I tried on like 20 today.

I hate the vistaprint website! I can't find anything on there, and definitely did not see matching envelopes. grrrr. Are the envelopes just plain, or is there anything special about them? ie. if you put a magnet into the envelope, will it stick to the fridge? I have some paper at home that I can use as backing, and just cut slits in the corners or use a glue dot.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'm leaning towards sending STD's in January, with the URL of our wedding website. I'd like to include tons of info and an RSVP form on the website. Hopefully that will get people thinking and planning, and maybe some will RSVP early. Then I'd send formal invites in the early summer, and ask for firm RSVP by June - the short turn-around should be ok because they will have had tons of time to think about it. I just think it's kind of pointless to send invites if the RSVP was requested with the STD's. Anyway, thanks for the discussion!

breeze616's Planning Thread - tons of pics!
starrysim replied to breeze616's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Absolutely amazing! I can't believe all the work you put into it. I guess I'm a bit more selfish - the reason I really want to do a DW is to avoid having to plan and micromanage every detail. You've done an amazing job here. Your ring, dress and invites really stood out as my favourites. Congrats, and can't wait to see the review thread - I'm just a few days away from booking my date at the same resort, I just need to get copies of our ID to send, and with being off work right now it's harder to find "facilites" to do that take care, and Merry Christmas! -
We're about to book our wedding date for November 2011, and are planning on sending STD's in January. I'd love to have RSVP's by about June, for planning purposes, but does that mean I should send out formal invites by the spring? Or is it too ambitious to have guests make up their minds by the summer? Or can we request RSVP on the STD cards, before the formal invites are even sent out? How does the timeline typically work for most DW's? thanks for any input

Can anyone give me an idea of his pricing? -
Anyone used photographer Marcia Roberts before?

Thanks for posting, Heatherfan. I'm considering her as well, I haven't found any other cost-effective alternatives -
Awww cute. We always joked that my fiance would propose with a puppy, and that it would ruin the moment because I would be more excited about the puppy than the ring Well, the proposal came and went, and just the other day I said to him "Awww that means I don't get a proposal puppy?" Anyway, I know this is kind of an older thread, but congrats anyway!

I made him propose 5 more times...

Aww this is cute. Congrats! -
I'd be so grateful for recommendations for a Toronto-area travel agent for our DW in Jamaica. Preferably someone you have dealt with personally and would wholeheartedly recommend. I've searched through the forums and tried to follow up other leads, but I haven't had much luck. Thanks!

Let me preface this by saying that we've been together for 9 years, and I've been waiting patiently (and at times impatiently) for a long time. We went "ring shopping" as early as 2 years ago, and more seriously this past summer. I said I wanted to wear the ring as soon as he proposed, so I wanted him to get the real thing instead of proposing with just a diamond or a dummy ring. We had a vacation in August, that passed without a proposal. Then my birthday, then our 9th anniversary, still nothing. I was getting antsy. I figured I'd have to wait until Christmas. Then, one day, on December 12th... We went to a tree farm to cut our own Christmas tree for the first time, with his brother and his fiancee. On our way home, he was all excited, insisting that we put up the tree that night. I was a little reluctant, but we went and got the decorations from the storage room anyway (we live in a condo, so it's all the way down in the parking garage and kind of annoying to go there). We came up and set the tree up, but we couldn't decorate is anyway because we forgot the lights and the skirt down in storage. So we decided to leave it until the next day, and went about our usually Sunday night business - I took my makeup off and changed into grungy clothes, and was browsing the web. He sat down on the sofa to watch the Simpsons. Then he called me out of the bedroom, telling me to come put the first ornament on the tree. I figured he really really wanted to decorate that day. So I go to the living room, and he's holding out to me a different-looking ornament that I've never seen before, with a huge grin on his face. Then I realized there was a ring dangling inside the ornament. Then he went on one knee and did the proposal. I just kept wanting to hug him, holding the ornament behind his back, not wanting to let go of him. Finally I did and he opened it up and cut the string that was holding the ring up, and he put it on my finger, and I love it!! I didn't take it off when I went to sleep that night

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm remembering prices wrong, it's really bothering me now. And we're definitely booking the wedding date soon, but the guests don't need to book this early. I will try to get a hold of some girls on the boards who just had a wedding there in November, and see how much they paid from Toronto.

But be prepared to pay extra for all things private and above and beyond their packages. For a good photographer try Marica Roberts, she was extremely reasonably priced. I contacted alot of photogarphers and she was $1,000 below Diana & Richard who were the 2nd cheapest. Thanks. So maybe $1400? I swear those are the prices I saw late-summer, now I'm beginning to doubt myself. Are you in Toronto as well? Do you know what pricing I can expect for IRHS if people start to book in the spring? The price is starting to stress me out now. I think I did look at Marcia Robers, but I didn't really like her style. I'll check again, thanks for the tip.
